[Sorry Twin Roses crew, but Pavel Chekov is going to be spending a lot more time with you since a number of his friends live here and the Tourist has become a ghost town. Or whatever the spaceship equivalent of a ghost town is.

Although he'll primarily be in the hallway searching for company, he'll also spend some time checking out the bridge--the communications station in particular--and the lounge. Feel free to tell him to stop touching your console and books!]

[Sure, he may not be a shipmate, but Chekov was good company and always welcomed aboard. Remy offered him a wave as he spotted him down the hall, changing his course to meet up with him.] Hey mon ami, how ya be?

[Ah, one of the people he was hoping he'd run into!]

Je vais bien, merci. [His French sounds tortured, he has no idea how the kind of French that Remy speaks works, and he knows about six phrases, but trying is fun.] And you?

[...It was, a little, but Remy still appreciated it, even if the accents weren't quite right. Then again, his was Cajun French, no doubt it would be dismissed as incorrect to a Frenchman.] Ain't got no complaints today so far.

Ya lookin' for someone specifically, or just 'njoyin' a day out? Or as much as can be 'out' between stops.

[Chekov's French vodka aunt back in the City would undoubtedly have had some unkind things to say about Remy's use of the language. There's no pleasing some people.] So far?

I have a very important question to ask Kitty, but also many of my friends live on this ship. [He smiles, fully including Remy in that.] It's good to visit.

Still got day to go, never know what might happen. [Though the Fleet had been rather uneventful at times compared to home or Luceti. Drifting was normally a safe deal, but you never know.]

Well, ya always welcomed to stop by. [Before those well worn in manners of growing up in the South kicked in, even with growing up in a household of thieves.] Ya wanna drink while ya here?

Ah, right. There is always time for something to go terribly wrong. [Such is life.]

Thank you. I may... particularly with the Tourist so quiet. [A grin.] I very, very rarely say no to a drink.

Ah, yeah, ya'll over there be gettin' a little down on numbers, hein? [It wasn't hard to imagine losing shipmates, it has happened to all of them, though after living in such close proximity for so long, it was weird to think of how empty a ship could get.

Remy gave a chuckle and nodded his head to motion them towards the kitchen.] I was thinkin' coffee, however 'm more than happy to Irish it up a bit.

There are four of us now, yes. The captain and I, Daryl, and Anders, who is in a coma. [It's bizarre how casual that kind of statement has become.] It hasn't been so good since Kara and Jarvis left.

[Kara especially, but he's quick to move along.]

Oh, coffee! That would be good as well. I have heard that drinking things other than alcohol is a healthy thing to do.

[He can find one (1) samurai lady in a kimono and shawl in the lounge. She's sitting there with a cup of tea, though she lowers it when Pavel enters to give him an assessing look. She's pretty sure you're not crew...]

[He pauses uncertainly as he tries to determine the most polite course of action. Since he's too far into the room to exit without awkwardness, he settles for bowing slightly (which everyone he has met who wears kimonos--so, like, two people--prefers to handshakes).]

Hello. I'm Pavel Andreievich Chekov, from the Tourist.

[Goodness, what a mouthful. She appreciates the bow, though, and she can hardly talk. Makie returns it, all wariness leaving her expression.]

Otono-Tachibana Makie. Do you have friends here, Mr Chekov?

It's good to meet you, Miss Makie.

I do, yes. Kitty has been my friend for a long time, and I know most of the rest of the crew. And now I know you.

[...you actually look vaguely familiar. But then, perhaps she's seen him about in passing.]

You are from her world, then? Or from... her previous place? [What was the name-- but ah, if he doesn't know it, it doesn't really matter.]

The previous place. Marina. But she remembers less of it than I do, which is strange and sometimes awkward.

[And not something he meant to mention. Oh hey, look at this unrelated topic.]

...Did you work at the Melting Pot, Miss Makie?

[She blinks, a little taken aback.]

I still do. I work in the kitchens, for the most part. [The place is a little chaotic and disorganised while people work out who's running the place post Jarvis, but she still goes in each week.] Why do you ask?

[candothat]

Ah, that is where I've seen you! [As a great fan of food that doesn't come in gel or tablet form, Pavel isn't a stranger to the Melting Pot. Or anywhere else in the Fleet that tends to have real food.] I'm sorry, I was trying to remember.

I'm also sorry about Mr. Jarvis.

Communications Bridge

[Mikumo has taken to her new position rather well. She can do this. It's actually easy, but sometimes she's reminded of Reina as she lets her fingers dash over the comms array's keyboard.

While she works, her long hair spills around her seat, looking more like a violent lilac rug than any feasible hair style. And she hums. A lot. She goes through all of songs she's done with Walküre, but there are some she just can't hum. Some she just has to sing.

And that's what Pavel will hear when he walks into bridge.]

[He hangs back to listen until she wraps up. It would be a shame to interrupt.]

That was very [his thick accent twists that particular word into wery] good.

[She doesn't jump because this is a common thing around the ship lately. She sings and everyone listens. They're kind enough to wait until she's done with her song before speaking.

She turns in her chair, her hair slowly brushing the floor as she does. And when she spots the newcomer, she merely smiles.]

Thank you. A performer likes to know that their craft is appreciated.

[Look, some people aren't used to getting live performances on their ships, stopping to listen is totally normal!]

Life happens. It's more than okay. We just have to do more in response.

[But you could be, Pavel. You could be. Although, she does love an attentive audience, so she's okay with that.]

Thank you for that then. I suppose Kaname and I will just have to put on a show for the entire Fleet.

[This man couldn't be insincere if he tired, she thinks. He just has that sort of face. Like Chuck back home.]

I am, but I suspect that's because the Atroma think they are funny.

You know Kaname, of course! [Of course the cute girls with beautiful voices and whimsically-colored hair know each other.] You must also cure disease with singing.

That's funny about it? You seem like a very capable communications officer.

[Well, if he wants to do that, she certainly won't stop him. It's really the first time she's ever lived in close quarters like this. Especially coed.]

For the last four years, yes. And I do. We're part of the same group. She's the leader and I'm the lead vocalist. Alongside Freyja, who I understand was here before as well.

[She smiles warmly at his comment. Obviously someone who doesn't know her.]

Back home, I was called the Mysterious Venus because I never answered questions about myself. [She didn't have the answers, but that's not important.] That's why I find it amusing.

I did not have the opportunity to meet Freyja, but I know Kaname a little. I'm glad that she has someone else from home here, and that you have her.

Fortunately, that kind of communication is almost never required on the bridge. Off of it, though, you will likely meet people who will want to know about you. Just to warn you.
