Who: Kaname Buccaneer & YOU
Broadcast: Yes!
Action: Yes! (Bloodsport or Iskaulit)
When: Sunday Aug 12, Mid-morning broadcast ; Throughout August for anything else
[The feed turns on to Kaname moving around her personnel office. A moment later, she grabs the comm and settles on the couch.]
Recent circumstances have me wondering, have the positions of captain and first mate come into play often here? I'm sure there have been circumstances before my arrival, so I'd like to hear about them.
[She sits back, thinking aloud.]
I think part of it is that the roles are very involved and crucial on the ships back home with several tiers of command. I knew my role and the roles of those around me as well as I could. [She smiles.] Not that the set up here isn't relaxing.
Sometimes I just think about the differences and how it would affect life here if it was more like that. [Sitting forward again, Kaname turns a little.] Maybe it wo--
[The sentence is cut off with a yell of surprise from her. Dropping to the floor with a clack, the comm spins, camera eventually stopping and focusing on what made her yell in the first place.]
((ooc; anything regarding the weird dog may also get replies from Zack! also please make up a scenario if you wanna do something else with her. this is meant as a catch all post as well.))

[His gaze pitches downward, and-]
Oh, hey! Looks who finally came out of hiding.
action;
What are you talking about?
[Does she sound kinda freaked out? Because she is!]

It's okay, it's okay! He's friendly! Well, not unfriendly, anyway...
no subject
What is he, and why is he here?
[Panic has been replaced with wariness. It's still an improvement.]
no subject
[Zack glances over his shoulder, fully recognizing how dubious that claim is.]
Me and Aerith found him in the mist. He's from our home.

[Which was... annoying, really. Honestly it was a safe bet that Looma would probably disregard them entirely even if she did have them, if only out of spite, but without knowing what the Atroma wanted her to do, it was rather difficult to be contrary.]
If you are looking for ideas, I have assumed it involves many of the more administrative tasks. I ensure no fights break out aboard the ship, ensure the crew at least tolerates one another, welcome the new arrivals, provide what supplies and resources I can, and take charge if a situation becomes dangerous. Though there may be other factors at work in why no one has tried challenging that interpretation...
[Kaname's a bright woman, it should be pretty easy for her figure out why a ship full of people would just...try to do what Looma says and not attract any unnecessary attention from her. Or challenge anything she does too forcefully.
Of course, once Kaname gets spooked and dropped the comm, two of Looma's remaining three eyes widen a bit in what is probably the Tetramandian equivalent of a brow raise. Whatever the creature is, it's just standing there, not attacking her, so Looma's more curious than concerned.]
What in Tetra's name is that?
video; a little later
[Embarrassment aside, she'll focus on the topic she actually wants to discuss.]
Keeping the peace and ensuring smooth daily living seem a given. As it is, my crew get along fairly well already. I could count that as a blessing.
no subject
You could and should. As crew assignment seems to be outside of anyone's control- at least at first- not everyone is so fortunate.
Honestly that is what I ended up using the first mate for. Resolving conflict between humans seems better suited to someone more familiar with them. I assume the role is meant as a second-in-command, but I found it more useful as more of a complimentary one to the captain. Best given to someone suited to handle what the captain is not, and willing to intervene in any decisions that may not be in the crew's best interest.

[Keith stared at the screen.]
Kaname! Are you okay?
[Was he going to have to get over to her ship and slice something up?]
video; a little later
It's a pet someone on my ship found in the mist. [And didn't fucking tell anyone about!!]
I'm all right.
no subject
A pet? What the quiznak kind of pet is that?
no subject
[She's still a little rattled.]
He's fine, though. He just caught me off guard.

[Abort transport over to her ship?]
Who does it belong to?

It's difficult when the positions change so often. And also the fact that there's nowhere to meet that's guaranteed to be safe from prying eyes and ears.

She does own the Space Bar. That could be a possibility.
