[Veronica wakes with a distinct feeling of wrongness. The camera zooms in as blue eyes open, a frown already on her face. She sits up slowly, the covers falling off and pooling at her hips to reveal she's in standard Garrison uniform, the typical attire of an officer. Rubbing at her face, she looks to the side to spot her glasses and quickly jams them on.

Her frown deepens.] Where...am I...?

[Veronica slides out of bed, to find her shoes tucked neatly beside the bed. Frowning at them, she goes barefoot for now, instead running down the hallway and feeling cold metal under her feet.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

Action - Iskaulit & Blue Fish
[Veronica can be found wandering the Iskaulit and the S.S. Blue Fish restlessly. She's a hot mess of emotions, unsure how to deal with everything that is going on right now, and her first priority is just to become familiar with her surroundings. Most everything she would be interested in is on the Iskaulit, it seems, so this is where she starts.

She'll most often be pacing, but if you're lucky, you might catch her frowning and poking at her communicator, trying to make it function in some way like what she's used to. She wants more information, maybe this can help.]

[Lance takes a sip of his drink before responding. It's difficult to get her brief lash out out of his head, and just as difficult to shake the dread of what could happen in the future.

But for right now...]

Well, I've been trying to live as normal a life as I can here. Back home, we've been fighting for years, but here... I can just kind of be again, you know? Part of me needed this.

[itsyagirl]

[She sips at her drink as well, nodding in approval at Lance's choice. He knows her so well.]

You might have to teach me a thing or two about relaxing, but I think I know what you mean. I can't imagine how stressful it must be to be a paladin.

[the_tailor]

I'll do my best. Being a paladin is ridiculously stressful. We barely get a chance to relax, because we never know when the next attack is. Then there's Allura and Shiro making us train all the time, which I totally get, but man, it gets tiring. Sometimes we get woken up in the middle of the night, alarms blaring, because a Galra fleet somehow found us and is attacking us.

[He sighs, having some more of his drink.]

I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm honored to be a paladin, and I want to be able to help the universe. I'm glad I can do that. I just never thought I'd be a fully fledged soldier in a war at my age, y'know?

[itsyagirl]

[She just listens for now, sipping at her drink and watching him intently. Honestly, it just feels nice to be sitting here with Lance, talking about life and complaining about things. Granted, life and complaints are far more serious now than they were before, but it still feels nostalgic.]

I know what you mean. [Veronica nods quietly.] I'm glad some of the others are here with you, though.

So am I. It's actually really nice to be able to bond in a place like this. Over the last while, I've gotten to be a lot closer to them, and I'm...so grateful for that.

[He looks into his drink, smiling softly.]

[While this is a good moment, Veronica just can't resist a tease.]

Oh yeah? [She grins, eyes glinting.] Getting a lot of bonding time with the Princess, huh?

[the_tailor]

That--

[Oh, man. Lance has no idea what's going on in her time, though back home with no knowledge of here, he does have feelings for Allura. Of course, he has feelings for Keith too deeper down, way deeper down, but he isn't surprised at Veronica's teasing.]

Um, actually, that's... It's not like that between us. We're just friends.

[itsyagirl]

[Veronica snorts, rolling her eyes.]

Oh right, "just friends". [She even includes the air quotes.] You do know you can tell me these things.

[the_tailor]

I'm serious! There's nothing between Allura and me here. It's strictly platonic, and anything more than that that I used to feel before left a long while ago.

[itsyagirl]

[Veronica raises an eyebrow.]

...Gonna tell me who the new love interest is?

[the_tailor]

Um... So... About that...

[It isn't that he's ashamed in the least about Keith. But he's still bashful about admitting how desperately in love he's with him now to his sister.]

[itsyagirl]

[Veronica rolls her eyes.] Oh, go on, loverboy. I know you've got news. Spill.

[the_tailor]

Um. So, uh... Me and, uh... Me and Keith...

[He trails off, cheeks pink. Again, he's not ashamed at all, but no matter who he's with, he's still bashful to his sister.]

[itsyagirl]

Wait, hold on, Keith? The grumpy one with the beautiful hair? [She can't help but laugh.] Isn't he the same Keith you've been going on about since you started Garrison?

[the_tailor]

Oh, shut up!

[He covers his face, but... Well, she's not wrong.]

...Yeah. That Keith. That stupid Keith that I...that I've been stupidly obsessed with since then. We've been paladins together for a long time, and, um, here.. We've been dating for almost a year.

[itsyagirl]

[Veronica laughs softly and nudges Lance's shoulder, grinning.]

Aww, Lance! That's so cute. I can't wait to meet him properly. [Her eyes are glinting with mischief.] He'll need a proper family induction.

[the_tailor]

You--ah--

[Damnit, Veronica.]

Don't make him feel too awkward, okay? I mean, yeah, I've been in a relationship with him for almost a year, and told him about how inevitably he's going to meet the family... But don't scare him!

[itsyagirl]

Look, he's going to have to deal with me if he's going to be involved with you. [She folds her arms over her chest.] If he can't hack it, then he doesn't deserve you. We're a close family.

[the_tailor]

He does deserve me! He deserves a heck of a lot more, even! Just...maybe not so much with threatening violence or something? I don't think he'd take that too well.

[Though to be honest, he's kind of touched that Veronica is insistent on this.]

[itsyagirl]

[She rolls her eyes.] Leave that to me to decide, hermanito.

[the_tailor]

Veronicaaaaaaa...

[He's just going to kick lightly at his foot.]

Fine, but just keep in mind what I said. This is my first real relationship and if it goes pear shaped, I, well. I don't want to think about it.

[itsyagirl]

Aw, Lance. [She smiles and reaches out to ruffle his hair.] Don't overthink it. That's what makes things go pear shaped.

[the_tailor]

You know me, I overcomplicate everything.

[A little smile, though.]

'S what I'm here for. [She smiles at him, sipping at her drink and leaning back with a soft sigh.]

It's not so bad, honestly. And like I said, since time pauses back home, there's not much use in worrying about that. I'm just using my time here to life my life the way I can't back home. Weird how this is more normal to me, huh?

[He goes back to his own drink as well.]
