I think I would absolutely prefer it, if I could.

[He let out a happy sigh, thinking of the sun and the surf, as well with Sansa. He was going to find it absolutely delightful.]

( Sansa falls quiet for a moment so Tyrion can work on landing the shuttle and once they've touched ground, she looks to him with a grin. )

Come, let's go find a tea shop and enjoy the snow the way it is meant to be enjoyed.

[He chuckled, pushing him out of the plush chair and following her out of the shuttle.]

Lead the way, kind wife.

( There's a tea shop that Sansa had gone to the last time she'd come down planetside and it doesn't take long for her to direct Tyrion there. She likes the idea of indulging in a warm drink while they sit on a cozy couch and enjoy the snow; at least it's not terribly crowded today. )

After we have something warm to drink, I want to see if we can find this tree everyone's been talking about. It's apparently a wishing tree.

[He paid for the drinks, and led them over to the sofa.]

Another one? Well, I never have any idea what to wish for - so I leave it up to you.

( Sansa cocks her head a bit, surprised at his response. Truly? Nothing he wants? )

Is there nothing you wish for, husband? Really?

What I want, my darling wife, is not something this place can ever give me. It cannot fit into a box.

[He lifted one corner of his mouth quietly, looking out the window. The tea was warming his hands nicely.]

( Sansa frowns a bit at that. She understands wanting intangible things - her wishes are things she cannot touch but she wants them all the same. She'd hoped the tree might be able to help her with them. )

What is it that you want that cannot fit in a box, Tyrion?

Respect. Kindness. Love. Deeper understanding.

[He named them off easily, before he let out a sigh.]

I would like someone to be proud of me, to be proud to know me. You cannot put that into a box the size of a loaf of bread.

( Sansa's brows draw together a bit as she thinks about this, somewhat concerned. The things Tyrion wants are things she's been trying to give him but she's not doing as well as she thought. Hmm. )

And you think I don't feel that way about you?

[He blinked at her, before his smile turned on, bringing the scars into a more handsome arrangement.]

Dearest Sansa, I know you care for me, that you respect me. I do not thinke you are in love with me - but you want to be with me so that is more than enough for now. As for the last ... well my dear, I would never expect you to feel that way. Not after what my family did to yours.

So you'd rather diminish my capacity to feel than admit that you might find those things with me someday? I see.

( Perhaps it isn't entirely fair. Sansa had hoped he'd say something like he wanted her to care for him and then she'd be able to tell him that she does and now she feels like she's ruined their time out together. Hmm. )

I didn't mean to be cruel, Tyrion. I suppose I just thought you'd say one thing and it'd make me feel good and you didn't and now I'm cross. I'm quite sorry for that.

[He jerked with surprise at that, momentarily unsure if he should apologize or point out that she had never said anything about falling in love with him ... when she apologized all on her own.]

Sansa ...

[He sighed, and put down his cup, before offering her his hand.]

I never would intentionally say anything like that to you - and I am sorry that my words led you to believe it. Do you realize what a miracle it would be, for me, to be loved by you? I have my hopes for that, certainly, and my heart is ... utterly yours for the taking. I am just ... cautious to assume anything about you, and your feelings. Not after all this time.

I was being childish. ( That is easy enough to admit. She wanted the maiden's fantasy of Tyrion saying what he wanted couldn't fit in a bread box because he already had it in the form of her. It's uncharitable to put her own weakness on him. )

I just wanted you to say something sweet about me instead of what you truly meant. That's not fair of me, though, because you're a man grown with your own wants and needs and fears. I should be past wanting those types of things.

[He looks over at her, before he went and took her hand.]

Well, I can tell you that my wants, needs, and fears are all wrapped up in you and our future together. That I want you to be something .. bigger than a breadbox.

( Sansa lifts his hand to her lips and kisses it, wanting to show him that she wants the very same thing. )

I cannot argue with that. What I want with you isn't something that can fit in a box. It's bigger than that.

[Something in his face just melts away, and he looks like a little boy on the Winter festivals.]

Then I suppose we are both answering wishes then, are we not?

( Sansa colors a bit and nods, finding her cup of tea very interesting for a moment. )

I suppose that we are. We make our own happiness, then, and don't depend on it from others.

I agree. We shall make our own happiness.

[He took her hand, the one wrapped around her tea, and kissed it gently.]

( Sansa colors a bit and goes back to her tea. She does want to make a wish at the tree, of course, but it's something that she can do privately later. She cannot wish for happiness for another person, or herself, but she thinks she can ask for Lady. Atroma gave her Lady once before. )

I'm going to ask the tree for Lady, then. Mayhap it will work. Atroma gave me Lady last time.

Oh, I think she shall grant you the wish of your beloved Lady.

[Amusement colors his face.]

Although I am slightly terrified of what your direwolf is going to make of me. Hopefully, not a snack.

( Sansa cannot help but laugh at that and she shakes her head. Lady had always been the most well-behaved of the Stark direwolves and she has no reason to believe that would change in the Fleet. )

Lady is not going to eat you, Tyrion. She's my wolf, she listens to me. Besides, she's very polite.

Well mannered for a direwolf - does this mean she will dab at her well-groomed muzzle after she takes off my leg?

[The most innocent face ever, Sansa.]

( Sansa rolls her eyes, yes, but it's nothing but affectionate. Honestly. Lady isn't going to eat him. )

She won't eat you unless you suddenly start resembling Ramsay Bolton or Cersei. Since you look like neither, I think you're safe.

Well Cersei and I have the same hair ... but honestly they both have it on me in height and general 'horrible person who should have been killed in the cradle', so there you have it.

[He squeezes her hand again.]
