So, this planet seems interesting. Does anyone want to go exploring? Maybe just get out into something a little more open than the ships? Personally, it's been way too long since I've smelled pine.

[Now that things in the fleet had returned to some sense of normalcy, Aaron can get back to the task he'd set before himself before the involuntary transfer to the Marsiva had interrupted all of that. He wanted a safe place established where they could all train to better themselves with their new gifted firearms. The only problem with that being he didn't really have a good grasp on how they worked or what would be considered 'safe.'

Luckily, the Bloodsport had their own security officer, and he happened to be at least an acquaintance of Aaron's. When things had settled for the evening, Aaron sought him out, rapping his knuckles on the entranceway doorframe and with a friendly smile.]

Hey. Are you free?

[twosoul]

C'mon in.

[Lorden marking something down in a log. It turns out maintenance statistics are a lot easier when you have a little mechanical buddy to do them for you, so learning how to do it longhand has been something of a trial.

It's also boring, so he's glad to give it a rest.]

Hey, Aaron! Nothing that I can't put off till later. What's up?

[He steps in when he's invited, taking note of the work Lorden's set aside to speak with him.]

If you're sure, I uh...wanted to talk to you about a firing range.

[His expression brightens and he rests his elbows on his knees, leaning forward.]

Now there's something I could get behind. Practical experience is the best way to build skill, and I don't want any accidental friendly fire if things go south. How can I help?

[He nods, smiling.]

That was my thought exactly. There is a lot of free space over on the Iskaulit that I've been told is free game, but you know the capabilities of the firearms here a lot more than I do. I was hoping you could help me find a place that would be safe to practice in?

Let's do it. If we can at least get the basics down for everyone who cares to learn, we'll be a lot better off.

[It's been so peaceful here it makes him a little twitchy, Calibrations aside. If this was home, they would have been attacked by space pirates five times over by this point.

He grabs a couple small devices and once again regrets not having his Ghost here with him. Having an AI buddy would help out a lot with measuring empty spaces, but as it is he's going to have to estimate a bit.]

Ideally we'll want a long chamber, at least as long as the gym is. Doesn't need to be as wide, but if we can set up space for at least three people to practice at once that would be best.

[Aaron nods, waiting for Lorden to prepare before following him out.]

That's what I was thinking. What happened while we were on the Marsiva cemented the need for me, anyway. If we're all going to be trapped out here, we should be able to defend ourselves, and the Atroma clearly feel that way, too, since they provided us all with weapons.

[He'd been to firing ranges before, but he's really not sure what these things are capable of. Bullets he understands.]

Yeah. Hopefully, we can find something...or at least something we can modify.

I wouldn't mind. Besides, I do like hiking, remember?

It is one of the main things I know about you. [There's amusement in her voice.] Just to be clear, you're not planning on making it a hunt, were you?

A hunt...?

[Oh. Oh.]

Uh...I was going to bring a camera, yes, and if we happen to find something...no. I will not be intentionally looking for Bigfoot. [He chuckles.] Because that's silly, right?

Well... [When you put it that way it does sound silly, but that isn't really what's holding her back.] It's an alien planet that even the locals are saying they haven't fully explored. I don't see any reason for there not to be creatures we would find strange. But I also don't see any reason to bother them if they don't bother us.

Oh...oh! Yeah, no. I wasn't going to hunt them. More like, uh...wildlife watching? Besides, I need to find the perfect rock, and hiking's the best way to do it.

action - Iskaulit Gym

[After their initial few meetups on the Marsiva during calibrations, Keith had worked out something of a semi-regular schedule to continue meeting with Aaron for some fight training. He got there early to get things set up. The Iskaulit gym had a lot more available in the way of equipment, so they'd be able to do more now than before if Aaron wanted to, but the Marsiva had worked for the basics while they were starting out.

Keith laid out the mats in the large open space as he waited.]

[For lack of anything else to really 'work out' in, Aaron has taken to the jumpsuit their all provided when they arrive. It serves its purpose, anyway. His pack is with him, too, inside which is a knife (never leave home without it), water (they're training, that's important), and a change of clothes.

He's actually excited when he makes his way to the gym to meet up with Keith. They've done a bit of training, but nothing in-depth, and he's looking forward to it.

He smiles when he arrives, tossing his pack on a nearby bench.]

Hey. Sorry if I'm late.

[tempredmental]

[Keith looked up as he shifted the mat into a better position, and then smiled a bit with a shake of his head.]

I haven't been here long.

[He stood up. Keith's bayard was also tucked away in his own pack, as the blade he had carried since he was a kid was currently with his mother.]

I have the most experience with bladed weapons myself, but I guess that depends on what you're interested in. We have the practice weapons here, so we've got some options now that we're off the Marsiva.

I...don't know? I know a man back home who uses a staff, but also a man who combines martial arts with improvised weapons.

[He shrugs.]

You probably know more about this than I do.

[tempredmental]

[Keith considered that.]

You said you had some basic experience. [And Keith had also picked up on that with what they'd been doing so far. Aaron definitely wasn't a slouch and was a good learner.] We can build on that. Have you used any weapons yourself before?

[customplates]

[Aaron nods at his question and pulls from its sheath at his waist a hunting knife, the very same knife Carl gave him when he arrived, actually.] I know enough to use one of these?
