[It's taken Vash a lot of talking to get himself to make this post. He was embarrassed and shy which was making it very difficult. Still, it was something he had been thinking about for months now so he really needs to do it. No point to keep putting it off.]

So, ah, I know there are some doctors on board. People skilled with magic too. Is anyone good with getting rid of old scars. Like really bag, old scars? The kind make up won't cover up?

Oh. [Tim can read between the lines of that last statement. He does remember the memories from calibrations quite well]

That's understandable. Although it would be interesting to see terraforming in person I don't want to... tire you out.

So what did you actually do for a living back on your world?

I'm afraid I've never successfully been able to terraform a thing. [He smiles. Although he hates to admit how he only knows how to destroy. Unlike his sisters would could do such beautiful things.]

Me? I mostly drifted from place to place back home. I wanted to see the world. [Among many other reasons.] So I took whatever odd job I could get.

So you didn't really have anywhere you called home? did you travel with others? I can't imagine getting about a desert climate is very safe alone.

I had one place I use to call home. I would go back every few years or, ah, ten. They knew who I was there and it was nice. [Use to. Was nice. Then Vash strangely moves on to Tim's other question. As if trying to change the topic before more questions can be asked about that.]

And yeah, I had a group of friends that we traveled around together. A couple of them are waiting for me back home. I miss them, but I'm looking forward to seeing them again one day.

[The slight eyebrow raise clearly shows that he noticed what you did there Vash but he doesn't comment.]

We'll all get home to them. I don't think things are quite as they were with the Marsiva or maybe the Atroma in general. A couple of conversations have me wondering if something is malfunctioning over there. Honestly, I wonder if this whole thing hasn't been doing it on autopilot this whole time.

No, they really aren't. Our hosts hardly ever talk to us these days. They use to talk to us all the time. I think something is going on with them. Maybe it is on autopilot.

I had thought we'd see some reaction from the attack on the Marsiva but there has been nothing. I don't know about you but that seems the oddest part to me.

Yeah. I've been waiting for some sort of retaliation, but nothing has come so far. We just keep drifting as if nothing has happened. I hope... it's not because they're getting ready for something big.

It doesn't feel likely? I mean why was there no retaliation when we initially attacked? They have so much control over us, and yet they've done nothing.

It would be so easy to wipe our memories of us having any success against them to keep us from thinking it's possible but yet... nothing.

We might have hurt them enough that they needed to heal before they could. I mean, I hope they don't try to hurt us back, but it's still a possibility.

That is a possibility but I'm doubtful. Perhaps I'm just pessimistic about it but if they were in that dire a situation it would be even more important to appear in control but issuing some sort of punishment or reprimand.

Maybe. That is also a good point. I guess they could be in such a bad state that they can't last out against us.

Which might also be a bad thing depending on how they transport us here from our homeworlds. We don't want to destroy the Marsiva outright. It might contain our only way home as well, although I also have a theory that it's only what is keeping us here. They don't need to take us back to the Marsiva to send us home from what I've learnt?

All theories that I can not prove.

What will you do when you get home?

Possibly. From what I've been told the person with the best ratings at the end of the cycle gets to go home, but as far as I know this cycle hasn't ended. [Vash isn't sure people are being sent home. Although he hopes that is what has happened.] So either something else is happening, they're lying about winning, or they have no control over who leaves. But I agree. I don't think attacking the Marsiva and destroying it is a very good option for us to take.

[Home? Home where he's walking out in the middle of the desert to face his brother in a final duel that he will either win by possibly having to kill his brother, which he doesn't want to do, or lose, which means an end to all humanity? That thing he'll be getting back to? Tim wants to ask about that?]

Oh, not much. Just wandering the desert again I suppose. [It's the start of the truth.] You?

Yes and if only the person who gets the best rating gets to go home, what happens to everyone else? And considering how people have left and come back, or others have joined much later how does that work into the narrative of the show.

I could talk myself in circles with the lack of information or confirmation of facts for weeks.

You don't seem excited by the prospect? Although I guess I can understand why considering it's a dying desert planet. As for me, I will simply go back to work.

Well, I don't know if I would use the word dying. [Vash says and laughs just a little bit.] I would say... growing. Or a world of opportunities.

That's a good way of looking at things. Glass half full and all. It would be amazing if we could somehow use the collective knowledge that bringing all these people from all these worlds together to help each other.

I'd love to be able to help your sisters and properly terraform your planet. Just as I'd like to help Kolivan end his war.

It would be nice. I thank you for the thought. [And he is honestly touched.] But don't you worry about me. My planet will be alright in the end.

I hope so? And I didn't mean to say that it wasn't. It just feels if we aren't able to help each other in some way than it feels likes wasted time.

I dunno. Just getting to meet all the people here? Experience all the new things I never would have gotten the chance to do back home? I don't think that would be wasted time.

[Tim doesn't want to belittle Vash's outlook but if they do get their minds scrubbed even the memories of their meeting will be washed away and I suppose that works for his thinking as well. He just ends up sighing]

I suppose, sorry I'm a little cynical. I haven't been here that long so I'm still angry about being kidnapped?

Yeah. I can understand that feeling and I'm afraid I don't have great news. Four years later and you'll still feel angry about that now and then.

It's better than getting complacent and succumbing to some sort of Stockholm syndrome. Best to stay angry and use it constructively.

I suppose so, but I usually find anger tends to blind my constructive thinking. So how about if I just aim for mildly annoyed?

[Tim mutters out] Well you've got mildly annoying down pat.

There's also a difference between anger and rage though. One can be motivating while the other just blinds you.
