[ the feed turns on, though it seems to start with a burst of static and a blurry screen before it finally seems to straighten itself out. though the scene you might be seeing seems a little . . . hard to take in. mostly because it looks like everything has been frozen. plants, grass and giant dinosaurs like T-Rexs that were in mid-lunge to bite on . . . a huddled lump who has a quilt over their head and cocooned deep within the covers. And also happens to be sneezing a lot. ]

This — [ loki sneezes, looking pale, harried and a little . . . blue. ] — Is the worst. Why is everything so — [ another loud sneeze. ] — uncomfortable?! And how do you make it stop?!

[ loki smiles, feeling bold. ]

It seems you already have.

[sinistral]

I have, with one caveat: we get you to your shuttle first. Deal?

After that, I guess we'll see what happens.

[ a small hum. ]

I quite enjoy that as well.

The keeping me in suspense? Or the seeing what happens?

Why not? Be a little selfish, I don’t mind.

[dothelokimotion]

[ his expression softens. ]

You don't mind my being selfish with you?

[ he had taken a risk, despite the kiss being a token than a noose. still. loki knows he's undesirable at the root of things. too many flaws packed into one person. ]

[sinistral]

Should I?

[He turns to face Loki more properly, in order to watch his expression. What he wants to express is tricky to put into words, and he doesn’t want his meaning misconstrued.]

How could I? You’re one of a very small number of people who see me, without prejudice and without trying to make me fit into a certain shape or mold. I’m inviting you to be selfish, but aren’t I doing the same?

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki gently brings up their joined hands between them, fingers and knuckles pressed together. like a union. ]

Whether you could or could not isn't important to me. Be selfish with me.

[sinistral]

[Whatever fear Loki had of his touch being harmful, clearly hasn't accounted for the impervious nature of his artificial limb; his fingers tighten against Loki's much as they had earlier.]

Then I guess we're both being a little selfish, aren't we? I think I like that.

[dothelokimotion]

As do I.

[ loki hates apologizing for selfishness. he hates having to prove himself instead of being allowed to live his life the way he choose. it's true that he's not a good person. he prefers mischief and chaos, a touch of drama in one's life. and yet, living selfishly is the point of life. loki has lost it enough times to know its value in his bones. ]

[sinistral]

I guess the question becomes: what's next? Since I've already put myself in your capable and selfish hands; should we continue to add adjectives there?

[dothelokimotion]

That seems like a dangerous thing to ask a wordsmith.

[ he could certainly keep going. ]

As for what's next . . . why don't we make it up as we go along?

[sinistral]

Maybe I like living dangerously.

[He has no doubt of that!]

I think that suits us just fine, don't you?

[dothelokimotion]

[ his fingers brush against bucky's knuckles. ]

I certainly like it.

[sinistral]

I think I do as well.

[He’s watching his companion’s fingers though, the brief path his touch takes.]

Why did you caution me against giving you my hand earlier?

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki hesitates. ]

From what brief little I know of Frost Giants is that their touch burns through flesh and bone. Even Gods cannot withstand their bite.

[sinistral]

[That hesitation almost has him biting the question back, apologizing for the insensitivity. Instead he turns his hand under Loki’s, metal fingertips brushing his palm.]

Well I know I’m no God. But I’m not all flesh and blood either.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki watches that movement, entranced. ]

I suppose we are both made of phantom limbs.

[sinistral]

Maybe we are. [That hand stays exactly where it is, doing exactly what it had been doing.] If you’re cold I wouldn’t feel it as such. But neither can I feel that you’re warm.

[His gaze raises from their hands to Loki’s face.]

I think I know you are, though. Warm. No matter what skin you wear.

[dothelokimotion]

[ his eyes widen at that. warm. he has been many things, but warm has never been one of them. a frost giant. warm. something akin to humour or champagne joy bubbles up in him like a fountain. no, perhaps it is not a bubbling, but a melting, snowflakes on a tongue.

he steps closer, their hands still in the space between. ]
