Hello. I'm Allen Walker, first mate and one of the medics aboard the SS Blue Fish. I know there's been a lot of new faces, so it's nice to meet you all- sorry you got dragged into this.

[He clears his throat] Anyway a few quick things today.

First of all, I know many of you have been busy with securing engineering parts for the ships, but the clinics are still looking for supply donations. If you have anything you can donate to the clinic in regards to medicine or basic supply, I would be happy to pay you. [He links a supply list] If you're looking for specifics for ideas, I have some requests in that attachment. And if you like to make some supply requests of your own, you can do that as well too.

Second, it seems we've acquired a great deal of doctors, medics and healers. Welcome aboard! If it's possible, I would like to meet you so I can get to know of your capabilities and what resources you might need. Thank you!

And last of all, for anyone interested Dr. Crusher and I are offering lessons in first aid. Even if you have a medic on your ship, it's good to know these things just in case of emergencies. If you were assigned as a lab assistant but have no prior medical experience, I highly encourage you to come so we can make sure you're properly prepared. If anyone is interested, please contact me! And oh yes, there will be food.

At any rate, I am Lioriley - the medic on the Paisley. This is the first time I have attempted to use non-magical means of healing, so any further instruction would be greatly appreciated.

It's nice to meet you, Lioriley. And great- we'll be happy to give you any instruction we can! If you have the augment, the main thing is making sure you can put what information you were given into practise.

What sort of magical healing can you do?

I've a crewmate that is insistent I use more modern means of healing, so that would be best. [ she doesn't look to keen on the idea, but she is always willing to learn. at least this will be knowledge she'll be able to put to good use.

she waves her hand at the screen, the lines across her skin leaving faint wisps of color with the motion, ]

A great many things. I can heal minor injuries within seconds, though the more intensive ones take a bit more time and energy, but so long as the person is not dead... [ yeah. ] Are you at all familiar with such things?

They're not a fan of magic? [He's seen that type a lot. Stubborn lot]

[Oh wow that's really colorful! And pretty!]

That's incredible... [He gives a slight nod] Not as familiar as scientific medicine, but I've worked with many magic healers in the past!

[invigorates]

Something of the sort. [ they're not a fan of her using her life energy to heal people. x: but she won't mention that because - look how far it got her last time! ]

That is good, then. [ she smiles, the lines across her cheeks glowing brighter, ] When do you and Dr. Crusher intend to begin your classes?

I see. [He offers a sympathetic smile] Well, it's good to know non-magical means. The last place I was in would regularly take away powers when something bad was about to happen.

[What an asshole place that was]

I don't think we have a set time yet, I'm mostly seeing whose interested right now. So- if you have preference, please say so!

Sir, please at least tell me what kind of medic you are!

What, you want a written history? We'll be here all day.

[He ticks off on his fingers.]

I started training when I was young, which is--Light knows how many years now--and I served as a combat medic in the Troll Wars for years. I did triage; sewed together limbs; that kind of thing. And magic.

[He makes wiggly gestures with his hands.]

It's all a big mix of bandages and stitches and Light.

[Did he just...wiggle his fingers at him? Gosh. But at least he's pretty unfazed by the whole explanation of magic. He grew up around magic, it ain't no thing. ]

I see. So you're very experienced at injuries- that's great! [We'll likely need it.] I mean, not great that there were injuries and Troll Wars, but- [He sighs. Whatever. Moving on]

But alright. And I suppose Light is some sort of holy magic? [Keeping the hell away from that] Is it just simple injuries it can heal, or can you fix diseases and other aliments too?

Holy magic. Divine force. Universal energy. There's disagreement.

But I can bring someone back from the dead, should the Light will it. Along with anything lesser than that. Broken bones; gaping wounds. Diseases, corrosive magic, et cetera.

[There's the faintest sound that seems like dry amusement at the mention of disagreements. He knows that one.] There always is.

[And okay- that first one on the list? Is an actual new one for him. So you get him very surprised]

Hmmm...I still have to write up a lesson plan, but I think it will mostly be the basics of what to do in emergencies. You know, how to treat common injuries that can happen in a place like this- burns, cuts, head injuries...things like that.

That's about what I was expecting. It could be really helpful for those who don't have this sort of medicine where they're from. There were even a couple things I didn't recognize in the medical center.

Distracting, me? Perish the thought. [He will absolutely be distracting. But maybe he won't try for too much, just to be fair.] I'd be happy to be a seat warmer in your impromptu classroom, Allen.

Preferably before the next time someone starts shooting at us, I'd assume.

[It's more a joke than a jab. The Golden had been overprepared on the medical side of things when the attack happened; he knows that probably wasn't the case for other ships.]

Have you got the space for it? It's not really the sort of thing where you can sit everyone down in a circle and hope they don't need a demonstration, is it?

Yes, hopefully before then. [and he gives a light shrug] Right now it's only three people, so I think we can fit them in my clinic. If there's more, we can try a cargo bay or perhaps a waystation. The largest thing we should need for demonstrations is a dummy - so it shouldn't be difficult to transport.

[A thought occurs to him]

Though, while you are here, what sort of medical skills do you have? I know people here come from many different backgrounds and I'd like to know what everyone is capable of.
