[This is quite the beautiful room. Very grand, absolutely befitting of royalty. Quite stunning. He glances around him, makes note of what's around, but ultimately hops up onto the table to see Hermione. Because she is the most important thing in this room, where he's concerned. ]

Are you alright, mon trésor? You look exhausted.

[brainiest]

[ It seems to take Hermione a little while to actually notice that Lumiere is there, and when she looks up she blinks a few times, just to make sure he's real. The exhaustion is clear on her face, pale and a little sunken, and she breathes out a soft noise, sitting up and smiling almost serenely. ]

I'm fine, just doing a bit of work. Are you okay? Can I help you?

[He has to admit, he's kinda worried. ]

I was wondering where we were, but perhaps it would be a better idea for you to get some rest?

[brainiest]

[ She doesn't seem too concerned about herself, just shaking her head. ]

No, it's okay, I don't need to rest. I'll have time for that later tonight.

There is always time for rest, mon trésor.

[Still, he won't force her and hops off the table, glancing around. ]

It is very beautiful here.

[ Hermione blinks, as if she's been in a trance this whole time, and she leans back in her desk before she shakes her head. ]

It's Caer Glaem - or, I suppose, just outside it, in the White Citadel. It's meant to be beautiful.

Ah, so the place you were before, no? Well, it has done it's job in it's beauty at least.

[He heads towards the ring, because it's shiny and got his attention. Hmm. Glowy. He picks it up as best he can without well, fingers.]

I think you dropped something.

[brainiest]

That's right. This is my office, so I did my best to make it look nice.

[ She leans forward as she sees him reach for it and, slowly, a memory unfolds. It's raw, and difficult to watch, and filled with pain and agony, and when he comes back from it Hermione is back behind her desk, looking unfazed. ]

[Lumière doesn't understand half of what's going on, the words, names, they mean nothing to him. But he can recognise a fight, even more so, he can recognise betrayal and he hurts of Hermione- to see her process it, to have to turn against someone she clearly trusted.

When the memory fades, he turns to look at her, frowning. ]

I am sorry. Was that the last you saw of her? Or?

[Was there some reconciliation? He hopes so, but probably not. ]

[ Hermione's memories flicker in front of them and for a moment she's completely and utterly aghast. She's not sure what to do with herself, but when Lumière comes back... She breathes out, sharply, her eyes dropping to look at him before she takes the ring and holds it gently. ]

No, I... She was here, for a short time. She went home, though.

[ Hesitantly, she leans back. ]

I... We were locked in a basement after that. To make up.

Oh.

[There's a pause as he considers that. ]

That's...rather unconventional. Did it work?

[brainiest]

It was one of our friends that did it, one that was sick of us fighting with each other.

[ Finally, for a moment, Hermione's features soften into something gentle and relaxed. ]

It worked. Katsa... We had... That happened. But she's one of the best friends I've ever had, too.

[Aw, that's nice. Lumière smiles, genuine. ]

That is good to hear. Perhaps just being forced to talk out all your problems with one another really is the road to healing, no?

[brainiest]

Maybe. It seemed to work for us.

[ But she blinks, looking back down at her paper, as if all the memories have been tugged out from under her. ]

It... It was... Good.

And good things are what we want to aim for.

[Make life a little less miserable. He glances around. ]

Is there anything here you would rather me not see? I do not want to intrude.

[brainiest]

You shouldn't see?

[ She glances around the room, frowning. ]

I don't know what you mean.

[servantnotserving]

[Oh. And she doesn't realise what this is. That...complicates matters. ]

Let me rephrase. Is there anything here connected to a memory you would not wish to speak of?

[brainiest]

[ It's as if she doesn't quite understand that her possessions link to her memories, and she shakes her head. ]

No... No, I don't think so.

[servantnotserving]

[Damnit, Atroma, this isn't okay. Welp, whatever he touches is probably going to be awful, so he's just gonna go for it and hope he can put the pieces back together afterwards. He'll head to the music box,
tapping it with a candle. ]

It makes a lovely sound.

[Which probably means it's terrible. He's learning, go him. ]

[ The music is gentle and seems to fill the room, as if someone else has stepped in to bring life to the emptiness and exhaustion that had been Hermione's own presence. It gets bigger and bigger and bigger until there's almost nothing left but a feeling over being completely overwhelmed, completely undone by the strength and raw power.

It, of course, comes with a memory, that strikes with fear and terror through, leaving nothing but a cold feeling in its wake.

Hermione is back at her desk, but she does look a little more haggard this time. ]

[Lumière's making an executive decision not to touch anything else. Nothing good comes from touching things in this room. The danger, the fear, that is nothing to that horrible feeling of betrayal that comes with the memory. It takes him a moment to shake himself out of it, before hopping over to Hermione. ]

That was- Why did he try to kill you?

To teach me.

[ She says it as if it's normal, natural, even though it's the complete opposite. ]

I had to learn to be stronger and braver and that's what he had to do.

[Yeah, sorry, Hermione, this is the absolute opposite of normal. Even the guy trapped in a candelabra can see this is not normal. ]

By...trying to kill you? Forgive my presumptions, but aren't there easier ways of teaching a lesson?

Maybe, but they weren't exactly the sort of thing he would do.

[ She looks up, finally, tilting her head. ]

That was Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh. Someone important to you? I would assume anyway, given how close he got to you in the first place.

[Hermione strikes him as someone who keeps people she considers true enemies as far away as possible. He wouldn't blame her on that one. ]
