( for A-M characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

Ah. Now this room made more sense. ]
You're right. You do look good in the yellow.
no subject
He turned when heard Fenris, though on some sense he had already felt him come into the room. He grinned, coming around the table towards him, holding out his hands as if to let the other take him all in in his yellow glory. ]
Wha can I say? I guess command always did suit me.
no subject
It most certainly does.
[He glances around him, quiet. ]
So...this is the Enterprise?
[The place he would call his home, all going well. ]
no subject
Part of her. That's the command deck, down below. This..
[ He paused, looking at the slowly rotating orbs. ]
This is actually on another part of the ship. But I suppose they can't fit my whole ship in here. She's a bit big for that.
[ He smiled at Fenris, turning back to the command deck. ]
Hopefully one day you get to stand down there with me. For real. If you're still interested, that is. You'd be in a uniform like mine, except red.
[ The grin he flashed Fenris was far to saucy. ]
no subject
[And he means that, taking it all in. Yes. This will do nicely. At Kirk's comment, the flashes a sly grin in return/]
I am. And I look very well in red, when I deign to wear it.
[Which is rare. Because he lives in shades of black.]
no subject
That's one rule you rather to stick to on my ship, I'm afraid. Uniforms and all. Comes with being part of the fleet. But I am sure we can find some sort of reason to let you off not wearing the boots.
[ His smile softened as he came around to him, slowly reaching out in the dim room - not wanting to spook Fenris, or make him feel threatened. He touched his elbow, drew his fingers down the length of his arm as he leaned his hip against the table. ]
no subject
[Because it kind of is, even if he's...pretty crappy at being an elf in general. He smiles softly at Kirk's approach, and doesn't shy away from his touch, leaning into it a little instead. ]
I...think I would like it here.
no subject
Heh, I'll be sure to have Spock write up a report on that. He can argue it better than me. But the floor does get cold, as a warning.
[ Fenris leaning into him makes him smile wider, coming a bit closer to him and continuing to brush his fingers along his arm. ]
Good, because I think you would too.
[ Next to them the hologram zoomed in slightly and rotated, a planet with dark streaks running across its surface coming into sharper view. ]
no subject
[He's lived in Kirkwall, a city that might as well be built of grime and corpses.
He smiles at the contact, before his attention it drawn to the hologram. ]
...Where is this?
no subject
[ Kirk was quiet for a moment as he wondered how to explain the star scape before them. It wasn't anywhere that existed. Not really. It was created from his own mind, a coping mechanism taught to him by Spock that had simply stuck with him, even years removed from the incident. He used it, especially here, in his moments of meditative quiet, when his brain ran to fast and to far. ]
It's home - sort of.
[ Yes that felt right. ]
no subject
[He'll reach out to touch it. He's curious. ]
no subject
For his part, Kirk is watching the whole scene with a look on his face somewhere between sheepish and very proud of himself. ]
no subject
Fenris watches with a mixture of genuine fear which turns into a soft resignation. He shakes his head, sighing softly. ]
Is there a particular reason why you nearly pitched yourself off the side of a canyon?
no subject
First of all - it was a quarry. There's a difference.
As for why...
[ He paused, as if suddenly unsure how to continue there. He gave a sort of half shrug, but no matter how he said it, looking back now it was foolish. But then, he had been twelve so maybe it was a bit more forgiveable. ]
My brother had been accusing me of being a goody two shoes all the time. The good little boy who always did what he was told. I wanted - needed - to prove him wrong, so I swiped the car.
no subject
[Such dryness. ]
I...So you stole a car, and almost got yourself killed...to prove your brother wrong?
no subject
Yeah, more or less.
[ He let out a breath. ]
He was leaving that day - running away from my uncle. I can't exactly remember if he was blaming me for his leaving too or not, it was so long ago, but I remember him saying that. And I remember thinking if I proved him wrong he wouldn't go.
[ A shrug, followed by one of his patented cheeky grins. ]
It didn't work, but I certainly had a reputation in the town after that. I still send the officers there holiday cards every year.
no subject
[There's concern in his voice, but fondness too, at that last comment.]
Why does that not surprise me? Do they at least appreciate them?
no subject
He was - I think fifteen at the time? Anyways, he was a teen, and my uncle was not a nice man, to say the least. He was fed up and tired of it, so he decided to leave. My mom had left to go back to the Fleet, so she was off planet, and I wanted to stay, be the good kid, you know? I was the easy target, I guess. I don't really blame him for that part so much.
[ Kirk doesn't sound to upset over it. It was years ago and he had made his peace with it, all things considered. ]
I would like to think they do. Maybe have a collection they put up during the holidays.
no subject
[He chuckles.]
A collection just for you, after all your diligence.
no subject
[ Another sort of verbal shrug. It had hurt, in the beginning, but he was far past the point of caring anymore. It was something distant and far off, and he had moved on with his life, as he was sure his brother had. ]
I mean, I am the most famous person to come out of that town. I would hope they'd be proud.
no subject
[Hell, he looked for Varania and he literally remembered around four things about her. He still searched for her, though- as much of a mess as that turned out.
He reaches out, putting a hand on Kirk's shoulder, grasping it firmly.]
I am sure they are very proud of you.
no subject
Not that I know of. And I didn't really have the resources to try as a kid, you know?
[ Again, he doesn't seem heart broken over this. It's all matter of fact, like's he discussing results on a test, or a note in a history book.
At the touch he smiled, looking to him and leaning into him lightly. ]
I like to think so. It's that or they curse my name every time they get a card. I'm okay with either, honestly.
no subject
[He doesn't really know. He doesn't remember being a kid, but he can make an educated guess.]
OH, I quite like that one. It gives you quite the rebel appearance, doesn't it?
...Is there anything here you would like me to see?
no subject
He glanced back to Fenris before nudging him around the hologram, closer to a certain, tiny planet that had the faintest hint of silver coloring to it woven in streaking strands across the surface. He pointed to that one in particular. ]
That's you.
no subject
...Me? Really?
[He's touched, and it's easy to tell that in his tone. He shifts a little closer to it, reaching out cautiously, a little nervously, to press his fingertips to it. ]
