( for A-M characters )
Before you post your toplevel comment, please:
1. Check the first letter of your character's name as its written in our tags. A-M names comment here, and N-Z names go to the other post.
2. Make a note in your comment if anything especially triggering or graphic might show up in the Calibration. If you're not sure if something's worth noting or not, we suggest listing it anyway, just to err on the side of caution.
3. Put your character's name (it can be shortened or different from the tag, this time) in the subject of your comment. This will help visitors find you easily, and help us update the list below.
4. Post your comment! It's fine if everyone's Calibrations end up looking and reading very different from one another. As long as you're having fun and following our guidelines, you're good to go. :)
5. If you have any questions or concerns during Calibrations, you are welcome to send them towards the mod team at any time, as always.

[Such dryness. ]
I...So you stole a car, and almost got yourself killed...to prove your brother wrong?
no subject
Yeah, more or less.
[ He let out a breath. ]
He was leaving that day - running away from my uncle. I can't exactly remember if he was blaming me for his leaving too or not, it was so long ago, but I remember him saying that. And I remember thinking if I proved him wrong he wouldn't go.
[ A shrug, followed by one of his patented cheeky grins. ]
It didn't work, but I certainly had a reputation in the town after that. I still send the officers there holiday cards every year.
no subject
[There's concern in his voice, but fondness too, at that last comment.]
Why does that not surprise me? Do they at least appreciate them?
no subject
He was - I think fifteen at the time? Anyways, he was a teen, and my uncle was not a nice man, to say the least. He was fed up and tired of it, so he decided to leave. My mom had left to go back to the Fleet, so she was off planet, and I wanted to stay, be the good kid, you know? I was the easy target, I guess. I don't really blame him for that part so much.
[ Kirk doesn't sound to upset over it. It was years ago and he had made his peace with it, all things considered. ]
I would like to think they do. Maybe have a collection they put up during the holidays.
no subject
[He chuckles.]
A collection just for you, after all your diligence.

[ Another sort of verbal shrug. It had hurt, in the beginning, but he was far past the point of caring anymore. It was something distant and far off, and he had moved on with his life, as he was sure his brother had. ]
I mean, I am the most famous person to come out of that town. I would hope they'd be proud.
no subject
[Hell, he looked for Varania and he literally remembered around four things about her. He still searched for her, though- as much of a mess as that turned out.
He reaches out, putting a hand on Kirk's shoulder, grasping it firmly.]
I am sure they are very proud of you.
no subject
Not that I know of. And I didn't really have the resources to try as a kid, you know?
[ Again, he doesn't seem heart broken over this. It's all matter of fact, like's he discussing results on a test, or a note in a history book.
At the touch he smiled, looking to him and leaning into him lightly. ]
I like to think so. It's that or they curse my name every time they get a card. I'm okay with either, honestly.
no subject
[He doesn't really know. He doesn't remember being a kid, but he can make an educated guess.]
OH, I quite like that one. It gives you quite the rebel appearance, doesn't it?
...Is there anything here you would like me to see?
no subject
He glanced back to Fenris before nudging him around the hologram, closer to a certain, tiny planet that had the faintest hint of silver coloring to it woven in streaking strands across the surface. He pointed to that one in particular. ]
That's you.
no subject
...Me? Really?
[He's touched, and it's easy to tell that in his tone. He shifts a little closer to it, reaching out cautiously, a little nervously, to press his fingertips to it. ]
no subject
[ The planets fizzle out again, the image changing to a familiar one. A recent one even. It was back on the punk-rock planet, at the giant party held at the Metal Horse guy's house. It was them, dancing close to each other, smiling oh so gently at one another. Their mouths moved in conversation, though no sound was really come through. It was just that, the image of them looking happy. Eventually it faded, the planets resuming their orbit. ]
no subject
[That's...nice to see, really. A tiny smile tugs at the corners of his lips as a warm, content feeling pools in his chest. It's nice- to feel happy about something in one of these. To allow himself that emotion. He leans back, a little closer to Kirk- leaning onto him, if the man stays where he is. ]
I did tell you I wasn't much of a dancer.
no subject
Lucky for you future dancing doesn't actually require knowing to many steps.
[ He glanced down at Fenris, his arm slipping around the elf in a gentle hold on his waist. It wasn't possessive, just a quiet pressure assuring the other he could stay where he was, that Kirk wanted him there. ]
But I liked it anyways - your bad dancing, that is.
no subject
[He feels that, and though there's the tiniest moment of tension in him, he quickly relaxes. This isn't a possessive hold, Kirk has always made all of Fenris' interactions with him based on the elf's own choices. It's something he's always grateful for. It means more than he could ever say. ]
I did enjoy myself a lot.
