I just want to say that I really appreciate everyone's who's answered my questions about this place, but now that I've had a little time to get settled, [and stop silently panicking] I'm curious about what home is like for everyone.

And since you've been here, have you seen anything like home?

[And since she doesn't really expect to be able to ask and not give an answer herself,]

My world's nothing all that special probably in comparison to some of yours. It's 2012, Earth, with modern-day technology that's nowhere near as advanced as all of this. I live in Mystic Falls, Virginia in a country called the United States.

We do have magic, but I can't do any of it. I only know about it because my best friend was a witch. [And it's invaded every part of her life for the past couple of years, but ssshhh.] Magic where I come from has a balance, it's rooted in nature and spirits of ancestors. So the further down the line of witches you are, the more power you can have. But you have to maintain the balance of nature or the spirits of your ancestors will cut you off.

There are other kinds of magic, but they're bad news and not something you want to mess with. It has some really bad consequences for the user since it ignores maintaining the balance.

[And she leaves it there. She's not willing to out herself as a vampire or acknowledge the existence of other supernatural beings beyond witches and spirits.]

I've never heard of a positronic brain. What does it do?

Magic's somethin' some of us can do, but it ain't common knowledge or nothin'. Most the world's normies, no magic in 'em. Some're even real allergic to it. So we keep it on the down low, yeah? Much as we can.

Folks move away, stop bein' around magic and they recover, never knowin' what was makin' them sick to begin with. Then some mage moves into town and they're sick all over again.

Well, place I'm from, we ain't even got that. I mean, we got some-- you know, some people who believe in voodoo and all that kinda crap, but we don't have magic. Or zombies, or space aliens, or vampires, nothin'.

Man, everyone gets to come from future Earths. Or almost everyone. The vast majority of us who hail from Earth at all, I guess. The one I'm from didn't have magic as far as I know, but wizard fans were in force.

But magic is the thing we don't have in common, unless you count my friend's magic shows. I'm pretty sure there's a trick to them, but you never know!

[She smiles a little when he mentions his friend's magic shows.]

My friend used to say she could predict the future and I didn't believe her until about three years ago. We always just figured it was coincidence, but her grams always said it was magic. We just didn't take her all that seriously.

Oh, wow, she can predict the future? [Clay's been introduced to many strange, magical things ever since coming here, but he hasn't heard of this yet.] How far in the future are we talking about here?

[Wanda had been wandering down the hallways of the Starstruck when she caught the tail end of Elena broadcasting her message. Hearing the word "Earth" made her stop in her tracks, and so she listened in on the rest of Elena's broadcast. When she appeared to be finished, Wanda approached.]

You call your friend's powers magic, but could it be possible that they are something else?

[Elena looks over her shoulder at Wanda before turning in her seat.]

No. It's definitely magic. She comes from a really long line of witches dating as far back as the 1800s. [She purses her lips a little and glances down.] And the ancestors have taken her powers away before, too. They felt she wasn't respecting the balance enough.

[Wanda cocks an eyebrow. While she's a little skeptical still about the idea of "magic," she had to admit that her own powers were supernatural by appearance. She looks around the room, and spots a drinking glass that must have been left out by another crew member. She extends her hand out, and it radiates softly with red energy. The glass levitates through the air, nesting itself in her outstretched hand.]

Does her magic look something like that?

[Wanda does not necessarily mean the question to sound condescending. In truth, she's curious to know if there could be other "enhanced" out there that SHIELD and Hydra may or may not have known about.]
