When We're Rollin Through the Wild Wild West
Who: Everyone! EVERYONE!
Broadcast: IF YOU WANNA
Action: Everywhere! EVERYWHERE!
When: Mid-September - Mid-October
[How's your ship doing, pardners? Is it still pretty damaged? Is it glitching out hardcore? Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!
In other words, it's a planet mingle! Get 'er done!]

Re: b
[It's hard to not recognize him. Even if he isn't really Steve, the way he moves, the way he sits reminds her of the man he might have been, once upon a time. But they've arranged a truce, lately. The past few months spent in careful silence, avoidance of what their last conversation held. So she doesn't say anything, and the two of them drink in silence, both a bar and several universes between them.]
[But then there he is, standing up, sitting down, and there's no venom in her name when he says it. Just a name, and no gun in his hand. So she uses the one he's chosen. Least she can do.]
Orion.

You find anybody interesting yet? You've been sitting here a while.

[A smile. That's new. But then, so is this willingness to talk, on both ends. She can't afford to be antagonistic anymore. She knows she isn't the woman he thinks she is. Time to start acting like the woman she knows she is. As confusing as it may get sometimes. She doesn't necessarily smile back, but she doesn't look unhappy about his presence. It's a start, right?]
Everyone's interesting, you look at them the right way. I like looking. What about you? Sure your corner of the bar isn't going to fall over without you there to prop it up?
[She's seen him, too, after all.]
no subject
Looks like it's holding up just fine so far.
[the pause is natural, and not awkward. he's calmed down considerably.]
Your ship make it out okay? Jim said they forced you in even without a pilot.
no subject
[It's not antagonistic, at least. That's...good. Almost nice. She still can't quite forget who he's supposed to be, who he isn't...but she isn't that person either.]
[Apparently that hasn't stopped Barnes, though. She shrugs, taking a sip of her drink.]
Wasn't exactly a pleasure cruise, but yeah. We made it through okay. A few scrapes, but nothing too major. What about the Golden?
no subject
[he glances at the door, at the open sky he can still see.]
They didn't even look at the Iskaulit.
no subject
Makes you wonder. Maybe they had a good reason.
You setting up shop over there with the rest of them?
no subject
[he says it plainly.]
... So, yeah. I have been. Got a meditation room set up.
no subject
Guess I can understand that. Peace and quiet. Space. For now, anyway.
Meditation room, though, not what I'd have expected from you.
no subject
[since that's what he'd do otherwise. maybe that's what she would expect? he's finding that he knows a lot less about her than he thought he ever did.]
... Besides, people need a place to reflect without interruption.
no subject
Too much quiet contemplation can be just as bad for you as none at all. Maybe someone should set up a room with just a little interruption, now and then.
[Flippant comment, maybe, but there's nothing flippant about the thoughtful look in her eyes as she considers her glass, the door, the bar behind him.]
no subject
[he's inviting her to a little friendly wordplay here; he expects a lot more meaning in the underlying message, but there's nothing wrong with pretending it doesn't mean a thing.]
no subject
[Everything means something, with them. How could it not? His face, their very disparate shared histories. She'd never forgiven him for not being Steve. He'd never forgiven her for being Natasha, whoever she'd been to him. But she was beginning to think that maybe if she had to accept all these variations of Natasha out there in the ether, maybe she'd have to accept the variations of the others, too. She'd had those moments with Barnes, with Winter. Maybe it was time to have this one.]
[Still, what do you say? Small talk. Banter. Pretend nothing means anything and the last few months of the occasional verbal sparring never happened.]
My vote's for a fly. One of those really large, annoying ones that likes to swarm around your head when you're trying to focus.

[when was the last time you read a goddamn newspaper orion]
