When We're Rollin Through the Wild Wild West

[How's your ship doing, pardners? Is it still pretty damaged? Is it glitching out hardcore? Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!

Kind of a mixed bag, I guess. Not a lot of stability as far as crewmates go, but Stiles transferred.

Oh? Who's Stiles?

[ ok that kind of makes her laugh a little because she didn't remember they hadn't talked about that ]

Sorry. He's my boyfriend. I guess? Something like that.

[ Oh no, that's super cute. She grins ]

Ooh~ So he transferred to your ship? Lucky you.

Yeah...

[ she considers saying something else and then decides to go with it ]

It helps with the nightmares, too.

[ Honestly, it doesn't put Ino off much, because ... she's the exact same way, whoops. She gives her a little wry smile back ]

Yeah, I know what you mean.

[ Sometimes it's comforting to just have someone there with you, who'll be there to calm you down, even if they don't necessarily understand or know what the dream was about ]

So what's he like? This Stiles guy. He must be pretty interesting to win your affection.

It's just good to know you're not still dreaming.

And he's really funny. I can get kind of caught up in remembering everything. You probably already know that. He's good at breaking that up for me? I guess.

[ino]

[ She nods ]

Makes sense. He sounds like a good person.

[ After all, she knows Katniss has been through some shit. So has she. There are a lot of people that she wouldn't ask to deal with all of that baggage -- it was a lot to handle, and she didn't expect it of anyone. She still isn't sure how or why Tadashi does it, himself. ]

I wanna meet him sometime! If that's okay with you.

[ A little teasing grin. It's not like Katniss could stop her from seeking the guy out, but. You know. ]

Yeah, of course. You'll get along, I'm sure.

What about you? Are you seeing anyone here?

I like to think I'm pretty easy to get along with.

[ Usually. Unless you piss her off.

Anyways, she'll tuck a stray hair behind her ear, a little half-embarrassed half-dorky smile on her face ]

Yeah. His name's Tadashi.

What's he like?

[ino]

He's just ... really sweet. He'd do anything to help someone who needed it.

[ Even -- no, maybe especially her ]

He's really smart, too. He builds robots. At home, he built one that works like a nurse, it can perform checkups and stuff like that.

[takeabow]

Wow. That seems useful? And really, really hard to do.

[ino]

Yeah, tell me about it. I don't understand how that stuff works at all -- but he can do it, no problem.

[takeabow]

Well, I'd like to meet him too.

[ino]

[ She grins ]

Sure!

Oh -- we could do a double date or something like that. Not that there's anywhere good for that on this planet ...

[takeabow]

Yeah, I think I'd like that.

What have some of the other places been like?

[ino]

Mm ... the first couple places we went to were kinda creepy and weird. There was this one place we stopped with three moons that were super crazy about not allowing certain things on the moons, like, the planet of workers banned beauty products ... the fancy philosophical moon banned alcohol and drugs ... stuff like that.

Umm, we also stopped at a casino that had a bunch of fancy places to go, and tattoo parlors and stuff.

[takeabow]

That sounds kind of exciting.

[ino]

Yeah! I got a tattoo while we were there. [ She hikes up the side of her skirt a little bit -- not awkwardly far, but just enough so Katniss can see it peeking out on the side of her thigh. It looks like a branch of cherry blossoms, with some petals falling from the branch down the side of her leg ] It was sort of fun, actually ...

That looks really nice.

And fun? Probably not the word I would think of.

[ino]

Me either, but it didn't hurt or anything. It just kinda tickled. I got one with a friend, so it was kinda like a bonding experience, I guess?

[takeabow]

It seems interesting, though. I don't know if I could think of something to do...

[ino]

Yeah, that was the hardest part! We spent a really long time looking through pictures and stuff deciding what to get.

[ She'll smooth out her skirt, now ]

My best friend at home is named after the cherry blossom, though, and I thought the meaning behind it was good. [ She pushes her ponytail over her shoulder ] Since cherry blossoms bloom for such a short time before they die again, they tend to represent a sort of ... beauty in transience, you know? Enjoy what you have while you have it.

[ takes a moment or two to think about something, and there's a softness to her when she speaks again ]
