When We're Rollin Through the Wild Wild West

[How's your ship doing, pardners? Is it still pretty damaged? Is it glitching out hardcore? Well, there is one place to land to take care of all that, and that's on a dusty old moon in front of a planet that no one wants to go to. On this moon, you'll find a civilization that looks a lot like one's stepped into a wild west movie, hardened cowpolk and mutant horses and all. Will you become a vigilante, hunting bounties and stopping gangs from doing their dirty work? Will you go exploring planetside, with a cowboy hat and a stalk of wheat in your mouth to complete the look? Good luck with that; there is no wheat. This town ain't big enough for all you flooters, but make it so! For the ratings!

[Beverly pours the water into a shallow bowl, then dips a hand towel as well to get it damp. She sets the bowl on the small kitchen table, then announces that they're ready. The woman brings her daughter over to sit. First, Beverly gives the girl half of an ibuprofen, then has her lean over the bowl of hot water while her mother drapes the wet towel over her.]

No more than ten minutes, and we'll see how she's doing.

[ stands off the the side now that she's not sure what job she has ]

[Taking off her mask, Beverly comes over to Nova.]

I think we're good to take these off now.

[Smile.]

You're really good with children.

Thanks. Taking care of Prim taught me a lot.

[She's having a little deja vu here, having had a very similar conversation with someone else not too long ago.]

Have you by chance met Dr. Tam yet?

I don't think so.

He has a younger sister at home too. You don't have to of course, but I thought it might help, to talk to someone in a similar situation. I know how much it helped for me to talk to Adra about our children.

[She nods.]

[She looks back over at the mother and daughter. The woman is rubbing Mae's back in gentle circles and telling her a story in a soft, soothing voice. She sees Beverly watching them and smiles. Beverly returns the smile, then gently taps Nova on the forearm and gestures towards the door.]

I think she's got it from here. We'll only be in the way.
