[Luckily for Octavia's dignity, somehow her initial waking up freakout wasn't broadcast, so the first televised signs of her include the brunette leaning against the wall, curiously looking over her communicator. She jumps a little when it starts recording, but composure isn't too far off.

A raised brow greets the fleet, followed by a hesitant attempt at a smile. It's a bad one.]

So, space. [It's said in a very dry, unimpressed tone.] Anyone mind telling me what the hell's going on? I've got things to do, and this wasn't one of them... Whatever this is.

[She straightens, moving back to her initial bunk.]

And someone tell me what dick took my sword. I want it back.

Fine... [One more cough. She looks up and over at him, staring quizzically at the blanket.]

Just smoke? From where exactly? Ans where'd you come from?

[digthefuzz]

Um... well, sometimes, it just pops up? [He says with a defeated shrug that is outlined at the blanket. Then he goes on jokingly.] I'm trying to quit, I promise!

But, well, I'm not sure how I got here. [He scratches at his hair uncertainly while still trying to keep his face hidden.] I just woke up in one of those beds a few minutes ago...

[grounds]

No, no, I mean right here! [Gesturing at the spot he suddenly appeared in!] You weren't there like ten seconds ago, and I would've heard you moving this way.

[She hopes.]

[digthefuzz]

[Well, he figures there's no point hiding at anymore. So he sheepishly admits.]

O-okay, fine...

The thing is, I... kind of can teleport.

[grounds]

[Octavia stares at his blanketed figure.]

Okay, prove it.

[digthefuzz]

Alright. Here goes nothing!

[And so the bamf sounds again, and Kurt appears several yards away with a fresh cloud of smoke. He's still wearing the blanket, but it's started to slide off without him realizing it. His hands and tail are all peeking out.]

Ta-da!

[grounds]

What are y-- [Octavia actually yelps at the sound and scrambles back a bit, eyes wide. Her mouth is opening and closing, trying to find words to attach to thoughts. It's proving to be a little difficult.

But then she spies his hands and tail, and her brows shoot up.]

Wha-- Who are you?!

[digthefuzz]

[He holds out his hands with a surrendering motion.]

Um... Okay! I can explain! My name's Kurt Wagner, and I'm kind of a mutant! But... I'm friendly, really!

[Then he realizes that his hands are sticking out and hastily tries to tuck them back under the blanket.]

Nothing to see here!

[grounds]

Kind of? You're blue! [Octavia moves forward a couple inches, eyes narrow as she tries to see better.]

Is that a tail?

[digthefuzz]

Okay, I definitely am a mutant! ...Oh man...

[He tries to withdraw the tail, but the damage has been done. He sighs nervously.]

Um... Okay. What you're about to see might be really really weird...

[grounds]

Yeah, okay, just pile it on with the rest, would you? I'd feel better keeping the shocks all together.

[She's visibly tense, and a little antsy.]

[digthefuzz]

Right. ...Okay, here it goes. I promise I don't bite!

[And then the blanket is tossed to the side! And there's Nightcrawler, in all his fuzzy glory, looking on a little uncertainly and giving a mild shrug.]

Ta-da?

[grounds]

[She looks like she wants to scramble back again, but she's doing her best not to. Of course it's a shock. At least she's trying not to overreact.

Of course when too much attention is focused on her reactions, her words might suffer a little.]

Did you turn blue and fuzzy from too much teleporting or something??

[digthefuzz]

[He shakes his head softly.]

I would have cut back a long time ago if that was the case...

[Kurt keeps his distance. It's not the worst reaction he could get at least, but he still wants to be careful. Maybe he can find something other than judgement from this new person.]

N-no, I was... born this way. I'm a mutant... Don't you know about mutations?

[grounds]

[That question causes her to pause, then actually relax somewhat.] Yeah, I do.

[Octavia debates for a moment before scooting over and patting the bunk next to her. Come on over, dude.]

It's not the same, but my people lived on a space station for a hundred years. We became resistant to radiation. Stuff that kills a [slight pause] regular human in a matter of moments doesn't bother us at all.

[digthefuzz]

[Well, that's a welcoming gesture. Kurt's a bit hesitant, but he shuffles on over to the bunk and takes his seat, eyes widening as listens to her.]

Whoa! Really? ...Well, that's pretty cool! But... I never heard of anyone living up in space for that long...

[grounds]

No, it's not. [If anything, she sounds a little bitter now.] We were up there because there was a nuclear war a hundred years ago, and the Earth wasn't habitable anymore. They only found out it was because they sent a bunch of kids [herself included] down to basically live or die.

[digthefuzz]

S-sorry. [He flinches as she starts speaking, quickly realizing that he had the wrong choice of words. It was too optimistic of him to assume it was a good situation.]

Th-that's... I can't even imagine...

Wait, what about Earth? I... I was just there! What, am I in the future or something?! [Now he looks panicked. It doesn't help that in his time, a guy named Apocalypse was on the loose and up to no good.]

[grounds]

[She leans back, somehow comfortable enough in the blue guy's presence.] Relax, yours is probably fine. I read something about different worlds, so for all I know, mine's a special case.

[Octavia glances over, eyes going to his tail.] We certainly don't have guys like you, anyway.

[digthefuzz]

[Good, that helps him to feel a little less tense too. He takes a breath of relief.]

Really? Man... I- I sure hope so. Different worlds... it's like something like the Twilight Zone, but I guess it's not the weirdest thing that turned out to be true.

[He blinks and smirks as his tail curls behind him on the bed.]

I guess that makes me one of a kind, huh?

[grounds]

I'd say weirder things have happened, but I really can't think of a good example.

[Her eyes follow it, a little akin to a cat watching its prey.] You think? Maybe there's another blue person with a tail here.

[digthefuzz]

[wtf are you gonna eat his tail???

He keeps up a light smile as he rests his three-fingered hands along the bedside.]

I know a kid with a frog tongue who eats flies sometimes.

[Then he puts a hand over his chest, acting melodramatically.]

Oh no! Then I will lose all of my charm! Whatever will I do?

[grounds]

[Shut up no it's just interesting.

Octavia glances over at his hand, but makes a disgusted face at the frog kid.] Eugh, gross. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

[Kurt's words earn a snort.] Not act all melodramatic about it?

[digthefuzz]

[Kurt laughs at her disgust.]

Whoops, too late.

[And he releases his melodramatic posturing with a sigh.]

No melodrama? But hey, that's no fun!

[grounds]

[He gets this face in reference to both topics. She's letting the fly one drop, though.]

All right, blue man, you get the occasional melodrama, if we're done with the fly thing. Sound good?
