[Luckily for Octavia's dignity, somehow her initial waking up freakout wasn't broadcast, so the first televised signs of her include the brunette leaning against the wall, curiously looking over her communicator. She jumps a little when it starts recording, but composure isn't too far off.

A raised brow greets the fleet, followed by a hesitant attempt at a smile. It's a bad one.]

So, space. [It's said in a very dry, unimpressed tone.] Anyone mind telling me what the hell's going on? I've got things to do, and this wasn't one of them... Whatever this is.

[She straightens, moving back to her initial bunk.]

And someone tell me what dick took my sword. I want it back.

[Kate's been kind of keeping to herself for the day she's been on the Marsiva, still trying to figure all this out, but once she hears someone else talking it's difficult to not go and see what's going on.

It's been a month since she's seen another girl her age, okay. This is exciting.]

[Octavia looks over at the other teen, a little incredulous. She doesn't look like a grounder, and she's obviously not from the Ark. Might as well go along with it for now.]

It is old news. [There's a pause, where she debates continuing, before deciding just to add a bit more, sitting on her bunk.] I miss earth already.

[Huh. There must be some sort of weird temporal crap going on here if they're talking about this so differently, and Kate's amused smile fades into a look of mild confusion. Mostly, though, she's just really curious about how different Octavia's experience of earth must have been.]

Where I'm from the only people that go to space are, you know, astronauts.

[He is on the Windrose, but on his end there's only the plain wall of his room behind him. His face has healed since she's last seen him, thanks to this place, but he's trying out the charcoal jumpsuit they left him in exchange for his own ratty clothes.]

[So, a fuzzy blue dude has woken up on this same day. He finds himself seemingly in outer space, right after witnessing one of the most traumatic events he's seen. So now, he's wondering which part is the really weird and really bad dream.

And worst of all, his image inducer doesn't seem to be working. But his teleportation does.

He's trying to limit his movement, in case this really is outer space. The last thing he wants to do is teleport outside. But he does try teleporting across the bay, with a blanket draped over him in a hasty attempt to conceal his features. But he seemed to misjudge how empty the area looked, as with a 'bamf!' and with a cloud of smoke that smelled like brimstone, he found himself appearing before a girl he never saw before.]

O-oh... sorry! [He has no idea how to explain this or anything, so he nervously takes some steps back while trying to pull the blanket up further over his head.]

[The first thing Octavia reacts to is the sound, followed quickly the smell and smoke. Unfortunately, she'd opened her mouth to speak. This results in a coughing fit as she waves her hand to dispel the offending odor.]

What the he-- [Cough hack!] What was that?!

Are you okay? [He peeks in her direction with some concern. He's definitely not starting off on the right foot.] J-just some smoke, nothing to see here!

They take everyone's weapons when you board. You can get new ones on the planets, sometimes.
