Beam me up
[The weekly Shuffle doesn't happen quite as it should. No new passengers appear on the ships, and no message is sent in from the hosts. The usual day comes and goes without a stir.
And then, on the second day, another one of those surges of static comes in over the speakers, breaking apart for a voice in the background. It's Diamond, and she sounds too far away from the receiver. She also doesn't sound quite like herself-- her tone flat and cold. Disappointed.]
--I know. I can't. [A pause of empty air, before a short, decisive sigh.] ...Yes. Bring them in.
[A blip of lost time passes right after those words, before every passenger mysteriously wakes alone in their own unfamiliar room. They have never seen this room before, but those familiar with the Hospitality Deck of the Marsiva might recognize the style of decor. It sounds and smells the same as the host ship as well--clean and chrome--but this set of rooms have never been ventured into before.
Welcome back to the Marsiva, dear passengers.]
ooc info:
Happy belated birthday, Drift Fleet! This is the first official mingle for the Season Finale event. As always, this is very backtag friendly-- including the Hosts section below. Take a look at the event information, then jump in and enjoy!

Yeah. We'd wake up in all sorts of strange situations all the time.
no subject
Anything in particular I should watch out for? In case this is related to yours.
no subject
It's not.

[He tugs at his nightshirt that says "ATROMA" on it]
I went to bed shirtless.

[She almost seems amused, before she becomes a bit more solemn to talk about more relevant stuff.]
I'm wondering if it's not possible the Atroma brought an Echo from where I was, or one of the ones who made Paradisa hell, or something like that...
no subject
I doubt it. I'm sure they're quite capable of making things hellish without their help.

[He thinks it over]
It is supposed to be a show, right? And a couple weeks ago marked a year...
So, maybe they're trying something new for ratings?

But it doesn't hurt to have happy thoughts during times like this!
no subject
... I guess this means the Atroma watching us is back on, though. If it ever really stopped after that fake attack.
no subject
[Seriously, is he the only person who regularly checks his money account?]
And we don't know for sure if the attack was fake.
no subject
We can't be certain who the attack came from, but I can be absolutely sure it wasn't a real attack.
The fleet matched ours, right? Except with superior firepower. If they had wanted to kill us, they could have easily done it. With how suddenly they appeared, they could have ganged up on a few ships at a time, easily taking out a couple in a pre-emptive strike. That tips the numbers in their favor, so they can keep ganging up on a couple at a time until we're all dead.
No one was even injured, though, from what I've heard. Their goal was just to get us into that nebula. It wasn't a real attack.
no subject
What if their goal was to set us off course from something- or just to delay us somehow? We've been stuck in the same place thanks to the attack. Or it could've been a decoy.
no subject
[She takes a deep breath, not sure if she should share this next part... But Allen's experienced. He has a good head, and a good heart, and isn't immediately rejecting her despite essentially being a cosmic horror to his eye. She can probably ask him about it.]
... I've had a weird thought about them for a while now, to be honest.
no subject
What thought is that?
no subject
That fleet that pushed us into the nebula... It was almost identical to ours. The ships' designs, the numbers, everything. They seem like they came from the same source.
... What if they're a previous cycle? One who managed to escape. Maybe they pushed us into that nebula to block the Atroma's ability to see us for a bit, in hopes we could escape too... Or just to push us away from going somewhere worse. Or to do something themselves where the Atroma couldn't see.
It's not likely, I know, but...It's been bothering me for a while.
no subject
Yeah, that's possible too.
[Considering Paradisa's former residents, he wouldn't be so quick to assume their motives were benevolent towards their fleet. But hey, it's possible]
no subject
Uh. Yeah. I guess speculating doesn't do us any good right now, though.
no subject
Yeah...it's usually best not to jump to conclusions until we know more.
But I'm confident that whatever they throw at us, we'll get through it.
no subject
Yeah. Either through beating the system, or by just getting abducted to yet another one of these things.
