[ meanwhile Lloyd's totally oblivious to the announcement and Flora's arrival as he's holed up in the engine room (again), checking and double-checking to make sure everything's a-okay. gotta keep up appearances and all, even though he doesn't like to lie.

he decides now is a good time for a water break, though, so he'll be walking into the dining area and... oh! looks like he's not alone. he shoots Kaneis a grin before moving to help himself to some water, looking back only when Kaneis speaks up. ]

You got meat on that list?

[ he will be so disappointed if you don't ]

[Lloyd people are gonna start questioning your relationship with that engine room]

I put down food, is that good enough?

[ you mean like how they're already questioning your relationship with the bridge? ]

Hey, as long as you get some meat in there too! I'm getting tired of not eating all the time. [ he misses real food so much. ]

[Dryly] You poor thing.

[But he does get it. He's lost count of how long it's been since he's had a proper meal. ]

We'll keep an eye out for meat. I can't promise it'll be identifiable though.

As long as it's better than those stupid proteins. [ and, you know. doesn't kill him.

but he settles down, sitting in a nearby chair after he has his water in hand. it's your lucky day, Kaneis; he's not next to you! ]

[Thank the goddess. He'll be typing in "Meat" underneath food juuuust in case]

Mostly practical stuff - weapons, medical supplies, shampoo, clothes, books. Pretty typical stuff.

Oh, good call on the weapons.

[ he feels almost naked without his swords, it's a wonder why he didn't go crazy from not having them for this long. hopefully he can get Gagnrad back before they manage to find their way off, but he can live with spares.

[He gives a nod about the weapon remark, but makes a slight face at the mention of the yarn. Argh. Why do you have to remember these details about him]

Oh, I should probably keep an eye out for some carving knives too. [ and maybe some wood. ]

Carving knives?

[a pause as he tries to think]

Those...are different than the knives you use to cook with, right?

[He knew about daggers. Any other uses? NOPE.]

Yeah, for carving wood! To make some figurines.

[ even the engine room can get boring after a while. ]

[Except...he still has no idea how he's suppose to tell the difference]

But see, I'm not from the sticks, remember? So you're gonna have to give me a bit more to go on if you want me to know if something's a wood carving knife or not.

ok he's just going to ignore that "from the sticks" comment in favor of actually understanding Kaneis's point of view. ]

...Look, they're easy to notice. They're smaller than cooking knives, and the blade's usually shorter than the handle.

Just like that? How come she didn't say anything? [ did they do anything wrong? ]

No idea. I just found out a bit ago myself.

[Okay, he had some guesses. But. He wasn't going to voice them to Lloyd]

...Why would she just leave, though? [ he's pretty sure none of them did anything for her to warrant a transfer request, at least to his knowledge.

then again, Lloyd was transferred without to the Wonderduck without prior knowledge/consent-- was that what happened to Cecil?

So who's the new captain?

[He sighs and says it in a simple, offhand tone] I dunno. Maybe it was something about me. We butted heads a few times.

[Which he assumes shouldn't come to that much of a surprise to Lloyd. He's hard to get along with. News at ten.]

Flora. You know, that one girl we spoke to before?

[ he's not happy about Kaneis's theory, but he doesn't want to assume that much about Cecil yet. he'll contact her at some point and get her side of the story later on.

but for now, any sour feelings he feels over Cecil are ignored when he hears the name of their new captain. he brightens up almost instantly. ]

Flora? She's the new captain, really? [ if he sounds excited, that's probably because he is. he knows Flora! she's nice, he likes her! ]
