Windrose, where the wind blows
Who: Windrose crew and you, distinguished visitors!
Broadcast: Naaah.
Action: Windrose, various points in the near vicinity
When: Until we get off this frozen rock
[On New Year's Day, the crew on board the Windrose and those nearby may notice the chill as the doors to the cargo bay are left open, and their captain making quite a bit of noise as she inspects their newly expanded home away from home. This is likely to go on for a while. Feel free to come investigate, chat among yourselves, complain about the cold, etc!]

[She'd figured the tall people would be pleased. There was something faintly funny about the distribution of height between crew members.]
I noticed. Don't think we lost anything of value there.
[In fact, they'd probably dodged a bullet.]

He wasn't accustomed to space, perhaps, but individuals can have the most unexpected skills. It will be nice not to be called a "tart", however.
lost this notif, my apologies
Among other things. He didn't seem keen on the idea of a female captain.
Speaking of ranking, I've been meaning to ask you if you're considering an augment swap to botany.
[Setting aside the panel, she jerks her head towards the near-quarter of the cargo bay now taken up with a large algae tank lit by several fish and the beginnings of several long, low earth beds. She doesn't seem upset by the annexing, at least?]
no worries!
The comment about the augment switch catches him by surprise enough that he laughs.]
It would be xenobotany, technically. No, I simply enjoy having more life around the ship. I like the idea of renewable supplies as well.

I'm not opposed to it. Would be good to have supplies we can count on that didn't come straight from Atroma. I'd like it if you'd walk me through what you have going so far. Maybe we can find a way to build you an actual hydroponics garden.

All the time in the world.
[It's almost a joke, if not a very funny one.]
You've been collecting plants from every world we visit? When did you start?

Kinda glad you weren't here for the one before that. The entire planet was one big living, semi-sentient plant. I really don't think we'd have wanted to bring part of that on board any ship.

[Some of them may not have made it back at all. Hard to know for sure, with Atroma's whisking people in and out on a whim.]

Was it seeking fertilizer, by chance?

I hadn't thought about that. Now I'm even more glad we had the sense to not land.
As long as you're not growing Audrey II in here, I think I can find resources to support your garden. Find anything interesting on this planet?

He does get the reference and smiles at it.] The only new food plant I found is some mint, but there were several with medicinal uses that natives use to treat the colds. If we can have a sustainable way to produce medical supplies, the whole Fleet could benefit.

Hello, mojitos.
[She makes the joke about the mint, but the other plants are really much more interesting, and potentially necessary.]
Those other plants could definitely be useful, especially considering our current lack of medical facilities. I didn't catch whatever was going around out there, but it didn't look fun. I'll start setting credits aside so we can expland your garden here.
Also, remind me that we should look into recruiting a medical officer from one of the other ships. With this many people floating around, one ship's bound to have a spare.

I would hesitate to call the cold fun, but at least it was instructional. If nothing else, knowing there are diseases which can affect persons who have unusual immune systems is extremely good to know. I'd fully support the search for a medical officer.
[And he inclines his head.] Thank you. Perhaps we could build some shelving to make a vertical row or two, with either pots or hydroponics.
