Who: Ahsoka + Obi-wan and YOU
Broadcast: No
Action: Planet-side
When: 10th of Jan
[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.
He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

Yeugh. Yeah-- I've done that before. You need to ask for dishes without any added salt.

That, and... Obi-Wan is teaching me how to bargain.
[No "Master" attached to his name as she says it. It's a habit she's had to train herself out of. She's struggling to set her boundaries here with the other two Jedi as it is; titles only make things more confusing.]
no subject
[Like, no offense to Jedi, but his Jedi master taught him nothing about bargaining. It took a lifetime among scumbags to pick up those particular traits.]
no subject
Hey! What's wrong with that?
He's not bad at it!
no subject
[And that's about to go out of style.]
no subject
Yeah, well-- maybe you should see him in action before you knock it!
no subject
Hey, hey. I'm not saying he's bad. Just that there might be other approaches you could try.
no subject
All right then. If you're so much better, why don't you demonstrate? Show us how it's done.

[Kanan waits a moment to scan the various merchants before finding one that seems ideal. There's a young lady selling vegetables that seems an ideal candidate. So Kanan strolls on over and makes a show of looking at the produce. When she speaks to him, he's nothing but sweet - including a casual compliment on her hat. What follows is some idle chit chat about the origins of the vegetable before finally coming around to the price. It's only at that point does Kanan wince ever so slightly and admits that he didn't realize that she had an upcharge. A little haggling ensues before at last Kanan reluctantly agrees to buy the much discounted potato-like vegetable. She throws in an extra one for free.
He comes back and tosses the extra to her.]
Before you say anything, that was the last of the money I had.
[Literally he couldn't have haggled over anything more expensive, unless he employed one of his more advanced haggling talents - outright thievery.]
no subject
... Wait, really?
That's stupid. Here, I'll buy it off you for the price you paid her. I've been here longer than you, I can afford it.
no subject
[Because... well, she is a teenager. Even though she shouldn't be. But just because she grows up all mature and reserved, that doesn't change what she is now.]
no subject
Huh? Why would you be in debt to me? I pay a person for good and/or services, they give me the goods, the transaction is over.
no subject
[Eh. No harm no foul. He holds out a hand to be recompensated for his uh, losses.]

The space rations we get here aren't any improvement on the ones back home. I'm always happy to give real food a good home.

[Ahsoka scans the stalls for a moment, before wandering over to a spare parts stall. She can't really flirt with the stall attendant the same way Kanan can, but she has her own methods. She strikes up a conversation with the merchant, starting by asking after a part she already knows he doesn't have. No one on this planet does, she's realised. She describes it for him, and a little lightbulb goes off in his head-- like he understands what she's after, and can maybe find something similar. He rummages around before procuring two different alternative options for her. Ahsoka considers both of them for perhaps slightly longer than necessary, brows knitted in indecision as she looks at them. Then she voices her concern to the shop keeper-- it's not exactly what she's looking for, after all. It might do the trick, but it might not, too...
This charade continues for a while until eventually the shop keeper offers her a good deal-- both parts for a reasonably reduced price. She takes it, pays him, thanks him, and returns back to Kanan looking reasonably proud of herself.]
So. How'd I do?
no subject
Good. You did good. Although you gave in too soon. If you'd started to walk away, you would've got an easy ten percent more knocked off the price. Besides, he's a parts dealer. Chances are, you got the normal price.

You seem to know a lot about it.

Hey, it's nothing. Besides, you're the one with two ship parts you don't even need.
no subject
How do you know I don't need 'em?
