The cargo holds are full of mysterious crates! The crews are filling beyond capacity with new faces! Official alerts are informing the passengers that they are signed to contracts that they've never agreed to! They are docking at the dazzling FS Starlight, but are flat broke!

[Alex hasn't really been in the practice of making public announcements to her crew, but with nine on board now and something interesting happening for once, she kicks up her sneakers on the control panels and gives a short address.]

Hey, kiddos. Captain Russo speaking. You've probably noticed by now that someone's stuck us with a bunch of boxes and some pretty sketchy contracts, and promised us credits if we don't mess with them. Normally I'd be the first one down there opening that crap, but dudes, we need the money. So hands off, unless you want to get turned into a toad.

[Which of course means - do what you want, I'm not paying attention anyway.]

And I guess we picked up some new strays, so welcome, or whatever. Knock first, and don't wake people up. If you've got any questions direct them to my handsome first made, Stefan. Enjoy your intergalactic hell cruise, folks.

[B. FS Starlight | Action]

[The first evening of their stay, Alex has positioned herself outside a busy restaurant and seems to have acquired a small crowd of alien bystanders, watching her do... street magic?]

Yeah, keep the rabbit, I have more in my hat. Your mom's gonna be thrilled. Just... oops, yeah, sorry. It'll do that on your shoes.

[A little alien child wanders off with the bunny Alex seems to have pulled out of her hat, and with a last wave she turns back to her audience - before seeing your character. She smiles and waves them over.]

Hey, come be my assistant.

This is not the proper use of magic.

[He has the good sense of murmur that, at least, as he comes to stand by her. Tugging his wand out, he shoots her a worn little smile.]

[She just grins up at him, mischievous to the very core.]

Yeah? And why don't you show these fine people what is, then?

[He shakes his head, wry-- but then grins, sharp, and gestures with his wand. The bang that sounds probably wasn't necessary, but oh, look-- there's a miniature dragon on the ground before them, roaring and spitting fire.

It's transfiguration, of course, aided with a healthy dose of illusion, but it's impressive, that's all that matters.]

Cute.

[Alex waves her wand, and the miniature dragon is quite suddenly dressed as a ballerina, complete with tiny pointe shoes.]

... I definitely meant to do that.

[stefanged]

[It takes Stefan maybe five seconds to appear beside her. He lets out a breath as he folds his arms, trying desperately not to look as panicked as he feels.

Except it's failing, because he's tapping his foot impatiently.] We definitely need the money.

I just checked our ship accounts. They're frozen, and I've got no clue when we'll be able to access them again.

[delincuente]

[She lets out the most dramatic of groans, falling sideways in her chair.]

Really? Now? I was totally gonna buy new clothes here, too. I've been wearing one sweater for months.

[stefanged]

We don't even have money for food right now. Let's see about getting jobs and then we'll go and buy your new sweater. I don't know about you, but I definitely need tea milk.

[He doesn't need to eat, but his tea addiction must be satisfied at all costs]

Oh, you addict.

[She reaches up to swat at him lovingly.]

Don't worry, I have some cash in my pockets. And I have a couple of ideas for making more.

[stefanged]

I've got cash too, but not enough to last us the whole month.

[Let alone a week, at the rate he drinks tea and consumes other food he doesn't need.]

A couple of ideas? [.....] On second thought, don't tell me.

[ james has been watching this spectacle for a few minutes now, heavily amused. he has no wand here, but the moment alex requests an assistant, he is there. ]

I thought you'd never ask.

{ with a grin, and he immediately moves over to collect up Alex's hat. ]

Though this is a bit cheap, isn't it? Hardly real magic.

Isn't it, though?

[Alex smiles, and reaches into the hat again. Out comes... another rabbit, but this one seems to be quacking like a duck. Oops.]

If I may make a content suggestion.

[ ... a quacking rabbit, that's a bit new, but james won't comment on it. ]

Suggestion box is closed. I totally did that on purpose, okay?

[She totally didn't.]

Now hold still, I'm gonna pull a ribbon out of your ear.

Wh- Me? Okay! [Sorey bounces over with all the exuberance of a twelve-week-old puppy. He'd been one of the audience members clapping enthusiastically after every trick. This is the coolest thing he's ever seen.]

Right, what do you need me to do?

[delincuente]

[Alex smiles, a bit mischievous, but mostly genuine. He immediately reminded her of Clay, which is why she picked him.]

Just stand there for a second. I'm gonna make you fly.

[monolike]

That sounds neat! [Sorey claps his hands and then assumes a ready position. Apparently this means bent knees. Usually you're supposed to bend your knees in preparation for literally anything that could happen to you.] I can't wait. Let 'er rip!

[delincuente]

[Alex readies her wand, and takes a second to think up her words.]

Humans aren't quite flying things,
so give this one a pair of wings.

[She waves the wand in his direction, and a lovely pair of... moth wings (?) seem to poof into existence on his back. She squints at her wand.]

Of course, this thing remembers how much I hate moths. But go ahead, give 'em a go. Don't go too near any lights.

[ It's the elusive Captain! ]

What if I don't use hands?

[It's the elusive co-pilot!]

Then you get points for creativity, but I'll still have to zap you.

I've been zapped before, I think I can handle it.

[ a beat ]

Did you mean zap, as in electrocution or, zap, you're a toad now?

[Another beat.]

Just don't let me see you do it.

Just what do you think you're doing?

[Misty looks... pretty pissed.]

You can't go around handin' out bunnies like that! They ain't candy!

They aren't?

[Alex gives a little smirk, and with another tap of her wand, a second rabbit loitering around her feet poofs into a very large lollipop.]

Because that sure looks like candy to me.

So what happens to the bunnies you're given out then, huh?
