Gumball Wishes and Taxicab Dreams

The cargo holds are full of mysterious crates! The crews are filling beyond capacity with new faces! Official alerts are informing the passengers that they are signed to contracts that they've never agreed to! They are docking at the dazzling FS Starlight, but are flat broke!

What are they going to do!? Stay tuned to find out!

[Hermione :( Once Clay realized they had a new crew member but no extra beds, he put in for a crew capacity upgrade as soon as he could. No crew mate of his should go without a bed!]

Not something like this, no. Sometimes we get sponsor drops, like a crate full of visors a while ago, but those are just random gifts we're supposed to wear for ratings.

[Those visors are also not His Visor, so they never got worn. Maybe someday.]

I don't think we've ever actually had to deliver cargo before.

[ If she wasn't so used to sleeping rough she would, perhaps, be a little more put out, but years in a medieval world with travelling and camping have made things a little easier on her. At least she's glad to know that her new crewmates aren't people she ought to be too worried about. ]

I see - the people watching us, right? They like it when we wear their things and we get more money or credits.

[ It makes sense, logically, even if she doesn't approve whatsoever. ]

Do you think it's some kind of test? To judge trust?

[Clay nods at that first part with a smile: got it in one there. And heck, maybe it'd make his paycheck a little better, but eh. Still not His.

At that next part though, Clay frowns in thought, hand coming up to stroke his chin.]

I don't know... maybe. I mean, you'd think they could deliver these crates themselves if they really wanted to.

There must be some reason for it. People in charge don't just do things like this unless they want to see how we react - or they want us to prove loyalty or something of the sort. I get the impression that the people watching us aren't happy to just let us go about our business entirely, after all.

[ At least she was used to taking orders from royalty, even if she had become a Marchioness herself. ]

I don't suppose we can make the rest of the ship leave well alone?

[Oooh, she's a smart cookie. He likes that a lot!]

The problem is that it's suspicious. I mean, this much of a fuss over gumballs? There's got to be something else about it, so I know the rest of the ship's going to want to check it out.

But if even one of these crates gets cracked open, our pay's going to be severely docked. Which, yeah, I'm curious too. But we also really need that money.

[They're not a hot mess like the Huntress, so while their ratings are decent, they're certainly not rolling in dough.]

I would come and see if my spells would pick anything up, but I'm not sure if magic can surpass the technology here. It might be a bit dangerous and we might get in trouble as well - which is less of a concern, I'm sure.

[ She frowns, crossing her arms and giving herself a moment to consider. ]

I... Would quite like some money. I don't have any here, not yet - and I don't think my gold is worth much.

Ooh, magic, huh? What kind do you do?

[It's an honest question; Clay's seen a lot of magic from a lot of people, and one of his best friends here is a wizard. It's definitely not the kind of magic he's seen Trucy do, with the dubious smoke and mirrors that goes on there. But more importantly, not only does Hermione not have a bed, but no money, either.]

And if you need some money, I can let you borrow some! I don't buy a lot with mine, so I still got a lot in my account.

All kinds, really. I don't suppose you know James or Remus, do you? We have the same kind of magic.

[ She shakes her head, though, waving her hand and doing her best not to look too sheepish. She's used to having money and she loathes the idea of spending any that doesn't belong to her. ]

It's alright, I heard the people at the station we're at need some workers. I can get some funds there!

[geonomy]

[And there's a light in his eyes as he smiles brightly from that description. All kinds. All kinds. That's - ]

That sounds amazing! I don't know those two, but - All kinds? I'd love to see it sometime!

[While weird is his new normal here, he could never, ever get less thrilled by someone having such cool powers.]

Good thinking! I'll have to take up some work there too; but hey, don't hesitate to come to me or any one of the crew if you need anything, okay?

[They're the Vanquish, they look after each other.]

[ Oh, jeez, and now she's sheepish. ]

Oh, well, that's - I don't mind at all. Any time we've got a minute or two and I'd be more than happy.

[ Hermione's used to all kinds of magic, science and anything relating to it now, thank you Drabwurld, so she's not put out at all.

Shaking her head, she smiles, trying to hide how she's ever so slightly embarrassed. ]

That - thank you. I mean it, really, everyone's been so nice.
