I've read stories about parallel worlds, but it's something else to see them in action like this.

Isn't it? [ a terse smile. ] As it is, the Fleet houses two versions of the same man. As if one day he'd stepped onto a separate path in life, and became something different.

Is that what it's called? [ she may be bluffing. difficult to say. ] I'm not all that well-versed in the nitty-gritty of the sciences.
