[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

[It is a very nostalgic sight. No doubts, he's definitely dealing with a Shadowcat.

He chooses to clap his hands in applause and even throws in a whistle.]

Um... right, we're in different ships. When people get brought here, you're stuck on the same ship until you get shuffled. The Marsiva. But then when you're shuffled into one of the other ships, then we can get out and see each other! My ship's the Huntress.

[It's so hard to picture her Nightcrawler doing that, but it is kind of endearing.]

The Huntress. [As if committing this to memory.] When you say shuffled I'm guessing I have no choice on which one I end up on? I can't just choose The Huntress?

[That's a feeling she'll have to get used to.]

Um... Good question! You can always pick to transfer between ships after you're shuffled. But I've got no clue if you can pick one out before it! I know I didn't have a choice...

[But is she ready? Was she exposed to enough cute in the prison to handle it?]

Are Rogue and Gambit on your ship? [Yeah, she's just going to lump the Cajun in. Sorry. It's not like she wants to be around her fellow X-Men who aren't really her fellow X-Men or anything. ~~Or D-Men as I tried to type it.~~]

[Only time will tell if she's amassed enough cuteness factors.]

No, we're all on different ships actually... Rogue's on the Vanquish and I think - I think Gambit's on the Wonder Duck. [Saying that last part out loud makes him snort with laughter.]

[Okay, that gets a smile out of Kitty. She relaxes a bit too.] That feels fitting.

How long have you been here, Kurt?

[A smile. Now that's familiar, in a heartening way.]

Dude, totally!

[He stops for a moment to think.]

Um... if time's still working right? Then it's been about four months.

I can't believe Kurt Darkholme just said, "dude" to me. [Sorry, she's never heard about the Wagner thing. She just looks amused.]

Is there a reason you'd expect time not to be working?

[Hold up with that question, because Kurt is stuck on one other part of what she said. Now he looks like he's seeing, or rather hearing about, a ghost again.]

D-did you just call me... Darkholme?

Yes? [What did she do this time?] Not what you go by? [It was his Mom's last name after all. Maybe Mystique was married in his world?]

[He looks down and speaks a little shakily.]

Wagner. Kurt... Wagner. [If he had been mentioning his name like that for any other reason, it would be in a bad James Bond impersonation. But as it is, now he's just dwelling on the implications of that name and what it means for him. He doesn't know for sure if it's Mystique's last name, but he at least knows it's the name she used when she posed as the principal of their school.]

[Softer.] Hey, are you okay? [Not sure exactly what his circumstances are or if she should really be prying. It's like he's family and a stranger at the same time.]

[Ah... She's a Kitty alright. But he doesn't want to worry her - he just smiles softly back at the feed.]

Yeah. I... I'm okay, really. I... I just didn't expect to hear that name. That's all. [A weak chuckle.] Things must be really different in your neck of the woods.

Probably safe to assume. [She'd already identified plenty of differences on a pretty massive level. She hadn't even been thinking of stuff like Kurt's last name or Rogue still not having anyone she can touch. But those things are more important in a way.]

It doesn't change your life. [Probably. Maybe. Much...]

[Maybe one day you'll learn, Kitty... that there are some subjects you just can't touch.

Luckily Kurt isn't in an eavesdropping mood today, so he's not going to pick up everything from the other conversations.]

Right. [He says, reassuring himself as much as he is confirming her statement.] It's just different!

[He manages to smile.]

You know, you may not be the Kitty I know, but you're still cool in my book!

[Semi-untouchable people should really know better.]

Thanks. [She tilts her head.] You kind of remind me of the other Kitty I knew. [Just brighter, more youthful, innocent even. Versions of people she and her Kurt might have been if things had gone very differently.]

[At least a touch better.]

Wait. ...Other Kitty? [Remember his confused expression? It's back again. And he was just getting used to having only one other Kitty to worry aout.]

I wasn't home before this. I was in a prison. Same kind of deal—people from other realities and such. There was another Kitty. About your age. Hair back in a pony tail with long bangs. She kind of talked like you, but without the German accent.

[Well, now he knows what she meant by 'a prison'. Another place that takes people from different realities - that sounds like the deal Rogue had.

He looks serious as she talks about it, until she mentions the other Kitty. Then he looks up with hope in his eyes and then in his voice.]/

Like- like me? So did she... um, like... speak using 'like' a lot? Ever say anything about a place called Bayville?

Like totally a lot. [Doing her best, slightly exaggerated other self impression.] So, maybe from your world? Did she like a guy named Lance?

[Hearing Kitty impersonate herself feels just a little eerie. But it doesn't matter, because it all nails it in for Kurt.]

A jerk named Lance! [He corrects, but in a very fond tone.]

That's... that's her alright. That's my Kitty.

Well, my people [is there a better term for yourself and other versions thereof?] have terrible taste in men.

[A nod.] She's doing good there.

I get it. I guess we can't all be perfect. [He says teasingly, with a flip of his hair, as if he hadn't spent a week or so crushing on freaking Boom Boom.

But his expression shifts back to concern quickly.]

She - she is? Are you sure? ...She shouldn't even be there to begin with!

There's a beach and parks and a theatre and bowling alley and all the food and clothes and stuff you could ever want for free. It's not your most prison-y prison. She's fine. Besides, Logan's there. [Although she actually has zero idea if they've spoken. That Logan barely knows his world's Kitty which...hurt. But it still makes her feel better that he could be there watching out for her. She was a little protective of her younger self even if she kept her distance.]

[Well what Kurt doesn't know won't hurt him. He has grown to trust Logan over time, so he does look visibly relieved by what she says.]

Oh. That... it doesn't sound so bad. [Kurt smiles.] I mean, I hope we all get to see each other again one day, but for now... I guess it's not as bad as it can be. [He's actually not even sure if he wants to go back home, per se, since he fears the impending threat of a certain ancient mutant with phenomenal power.]
