Who:Okuyasu Nijimura and Josuke Higashikata
Broadcast: Open, Video
Action: SS Bloodsport
When: RIGHT NOW!!

[The video starts out with a very… distraught looking japanese school boy, who… actually looks kind of like a punk. Face marks, dollar signs on his chest, the words BILLION and MILLION on his sleeves…

Yeah. He looks like the kid of guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley. But that is all looks- because right now he looks like he's in near tears. To his right is another school boy about the same age as he is, his face only really showing up on the edge of the screen, but the pompadour on his head is taking up a lot of space on the feed above both of them.
]]

They have vanilla!

Dude-

They have chocolate!

Hey-

They have spicy chili!

Man, chill-

Where is the strawberry flavor?! How am I supposed to deal with this, every morning, having only chocolate ice cream?! How am I supposed to start off the New Year this miserable??

[OKAY RELAX PAL, the other schoolboy moves closer to grab his shoulders, giving him a few shakes.]

Hey, c'mon! Don't freak! I'm sure they have strawberry somewhere. We'll...we'll just ask, alright? Chill out.

[So...he looks directly into the camera.]

Hey, yo, so...little help on the strawberry front? We can like....work something out, cuz we're new so we don't got any cash or nothin'.

( What is he even wearing wonders the young woman who wears either the unremarkable jumpsuit or - in this video - her dress from home. Feeling pretty medieval all up in here. )

I'm not sure anyone's actually managed to grow any berries quite yet. I know we haven't... sorry about that. You're both brand new to that ship from the Marsiva?

( That's at least four without hearing anything from the mysterious people who said last week all their sweaters were going to explode. )

...we're new, yeah.

[Even though Okuyasu isn't...that far from him, he kind of holds one hand up to the communicator's side and harsh whispers, as if that'll totally keep their conversation private.]

I mean, I dunno man- I don't see how you can grow berries in space. I don't wanna break it to him he might have to make do without it; he's already a mess over this.

( Such a secret conversation right here right now. Ella smiles, clearly amused at the situation. Not so much at their expense as at the fact anyone can have a markedly different set of priorities to broadcast that are so... simple. It's nice. )

At least one of the people here has managed to grow vegetables. I wouldn't give up on the idea yet. We're bound to hit another way-station or planet in the next few weeks, too, and if you leave your ship to check the markets there, you may find something comparable for your friend.

( Or who knows, someone might have a berry stash that would make this all that much easier! )

Think of it as... an endurance test? Either way, it shouldn't be forever.

Oh yeah? That sounds good; least it ain't hopeless. Worst case scenario we'll just have to find an alternative like you said...just, I dunno much about spaceberries. Only outer space alien guy I knew ate tissue paper, never said a thing about fruit.

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-03 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Tissue paper? Well, you should have to worry about any bookworms here eating through your shelves. Though there is something rodent-like in the vents.

( Speaking of, she glances up at one that's offscreen. )

If you wanted meat or something of that kind, I could help with that. If you don't mind long-bird. It does come with a cost, however...

( Straight face. Very solemn all of a sudden. )

[personal profile] retrovert 2015-01-04 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, we ain't all that fussy otherwise...but do you think we should? Is the stuff they give us no good?

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wouldn't say it's no good, it's just a little lacking in texture.
retrovert: (pic#8617133)

[personal profile] retrovert 2015-01-04 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe it'll be worth it then...hm...]

So what's this cost you mentioned?

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
( Holds up a freaking ostrich bobblehead. )

You get a dozen of these at the same time. Just the once.

( dead serious right now )

[personal profile] retrovert 2015-01-04 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[UH.........]

...the hell are those?

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Bobbleheads.

( She demonstrates by tapping her finger on the head of the ostrich. It does what it's meant to do: bobbles. )
retrovert: (pic#8617135)

[personal profile] retrovert 2015-01-04 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
I get that, but...

...that's it? They ain't cursed or somethin'? You just don't want them lyin' around?

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Cursed? No, no, nothing like that! A former shipmate of mine had a preoccupation with them. I hate to have any go to waste but... they're literally everywhere. I'm all bobbled out.

( Joshua's only legacy right here right now, though she smiles again, a little amused at this ridiculous situation. )

So helping you means you helping me re-home a few of these at the same time. Hey, if you want more than twelve, you're free to have... ( she glances over her shoulder, looking offscreen ) ... as many as you never probably wanted.

( He's ready to fit right in. His attitude is one she can appreciate, being that he's apparently willing to put in the effort for getting something he wants back out of this whole weird thing. )

Yes, you can. I'm not sure what's involved in the process, but there's at least one person who's been growing vegetables, so there must be more than one way to try. Getting the seeds or young plants might be the bigger hurdle to start with.

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-03 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
( She holds up her hands in a slow down, stop motion. Honestly, it's hard for her to say. Augments or not, a lot of the credit system here is bizarre, what they each get depends on factors of entertainment that make no sense, and there's no way of knowing if the shopping network thing is valid or not. She'd prefer an honest to goodness market anyday. )

All right, all right, I'm not so sure? There's the shopping network thing that makes my head turn. As for dirt, maybe through there, too, and you'd want fertilizer... I think. Mandy always did, in the herb garden.

( Wracking her brain trying to think this through. )

I don't know if you'd have better luck at our next way-station or not. As for who's been growing vegetables, she sometimes wears this large bone mask, and she has freckles?

( ... for the life of anyone, her name just isn't coming to mind right now since I can't remember if they ever got to introductions )

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-03 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
No one seems to have found a way to do so, yet. I wouldn't say it's impossible... only very unlikely.

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry. That's a difficult situation to be in. I'm not even sure that... it's possible that our time here on the fleet passes differently than our time back home. I've heard something like that, and Nunnally might know, with how she was sent back home then brought back here the other day.

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
( She lifts her hands up with palms shown as she shrugs. )

If it were magic, I'd say it's the big kind you wouldn't want to mess with, since it'll have a big effect somewhere else in the universe. I don't know if technology has the same give and take.

[personal profile] rebella 2015-01-04 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
( Like turning moose into rabbits or magicking them into walking away or managing to get a metric ton of freaking bobblehead ostriches on board??? Nawh that's all normal )

I think any answer to that depends on what I consider to be what someone shouldn't be able to do, versus what you believe. Have I seen incredible things here that I wouldn't back home? Oh yeah. Yet it's normal for them, so...
