In any event, her normal cheeriness may be flagging slightly—being in space is hard work, and this is a lot less yellow sunlight than she's used to—though she'll try her best not to let it show as she familiarizes herself with the ship and its crew ]
sorry, not sorry
One on the inside of his right forearm, currently being braced at the door, depicting a series of numbers that look very like coordinates, but a few to many to have been just longitude and latitude. The other is down his left rib cage, a series of letters and numbers with a symbol between them in bold black strokes.
He grins when he sees who it is, his free hand moving to his hip. ]
Coming to collect on that coffee date already?
weeps
Sorry!
/hands a tissue
There, I'm decent now.

[ is she breathing? can you tell? you might need to stop her before she overheats between the combination of blushing and rambling ]
no subject
Why don't we start with going to get the coffee first and go from there?
[ He's butting in, but he's worried if he doesn't she might forget to breathe and CPR is not the best way to start a stay on the ship. ]

He can be found in the security room, sharpening his greatsword. He hasn't had much call to use it for several months, but that doesn't mean he won't in the future. Given how everyone is being packed into the ships like sardines, Atroma must be planning something.
He glances up as Kara walks past, giving a grunt. That's like saying hello, right? ]
no subject
Hi?
[ it's a hopeful introduction. is this a conversation opener? ]
no subject
Hello.

But nah, it's just an interloper. A visitor.
Who is totally nosing around the ship. Rifling through shit if it's left out. Peeking in doors. That sort of thing.
She is at least smart enough to stop when she spots a crew member. ] Oh, hey! [ Acting casual. ]
no subject
Are you new?
[ she's a little surprised, but very friendly ]
no subject
Only if six months is still considered new. [ Heh. ]
Sorry. Max Caulfield, I'm from over on the Paisley.
no subject
I'm Kara Danvers.
no subject
[ Max might be trying to get a good reading on Kara. HM. Hmmmm. ]
Anyway, it's nice to meet you.

From Feb. 7 onwards when he gets assigned
It's certainly a downgrade from what he's used to, which will take some adjusting, but complaining isn't going to do any good so he won't bother. Besides, he isn't the type to sit and complain about his situation anyways. He's the type to do something.
Which in this case means exploring what there is to explore of the ship. A captain should know every inch after all. He's not the captain, of course - which is another adjustment - but that's no excuse for not knowing the layout of the ship itself. Besides, he's to much of a social person to simply stay holed up in his room and ignoring the whole thing, obsessing over how to get home.
So he will be popping his head into open rooms, working in the kitchen, exploring and poking at piping and other electronics, least of all because he has some working knowledge of all this stuff already. If there's an area to work out he uses it or makes use of his room, and he can probably be seen spending time finding any material to read up on and doing so. No, definitely not an idle man, this one.
And of course he'll be saying hi to all his new crew mates. ]

[Her back was to the door though, so she had no idea anyone was actually there. Which meant she was singing along with her music quietly. Whoops?]
no subject
But, he can appreciate the taste in music. He has to smile, listening to it, moving into the medbay and after some consideration decides that touching her shoulder is the best way to get her attention (though he's braced for a possible swing). ]
Who is that you're listening to? And does that get Beastie Boys, by any chance?
no subject
Shit man, don't scare me like that. Uh.
[She plucked her earbuds out of her ears, leaving them to hang down her shoulders. Huh. He was actually pretty cute...]
It's just my phone. [She pulled the little machine out of the pocket of her labcoat and held it up.] It's only got the music I had stored on there.
[Which might include Beastie boys but she isn't sure, thinking about it.]
no subject
Sorry - I didn't realize you were that deep into your music.
[ He flashes her that winning grin as a way of apology, hands going to his hips as he looks around the med bay. Definitely not what he was used to, but honestly he should stop telling himself that. None of this going to be on par with the Enterprise.
He looks at her phone curiously, a sudden light coming on. ]
Wow, I haven't seen one of these since that 8th grade class trip to the history museum. Can I see?
[ He really was very curious about it - a chance to handle real life history! ]

Isn't it GREAT to make new friends? ]

He had been fiddling with the coffee maker, needing a caffiene boost and the contraption proving uncooperative. He glanced to Fenris briefly before turning back to the machine. ]
I don't suppose you know the magic phrase that will get the coffee maker to be pleasant once again?
no subject
It does not run on magic.
[Said as if 'magic' is something found on the bottom of your shoe. ]
If it is not functioning, you need to speak to a maintenance worker on another ship. Perhaps they will take pity upon you and help you.
no subject
[ Most likely, all things considered. He does notice the way he growls magic, making a mental note that it might be a touchy subject with this one, even if Kirk didn't believe it was real in the first place. Magic was just something science hadn't explained yet. ]
I'm not quite that desperate yet. Though you would think that this "augment" I have in my head would come with instructions on the coffee maker.
[ He looks back at him. ]
So, you got a name or is it to early for that?
