[Dorian spends a fair deal of time poking around the ship before deciding to try out sending a broadcast. He's not entirely certain how he knows how to use the device, only that he does, and that almost unnerves him.

Still, his voice is pleasant, almost chipper.]

Well, if this isn't a curious little jaunt that I didn't exactly expect to take this afternoon. I do hope someone might be able to enlighten me as to where, exactly, I am...and when, for that matter. ...and where one might find passable reading material would also be appreciated.

[ Merrill is looking over her shoulder to see who is charming? Wow, he can't mean her, even she knows that's got to be empty flattery. She smiles anyway!

Maybe she ought to act more nervous around someone from Tevinter, but she's lived in Kirkwall for years, and it's also a hotbed. ]

You might want to get to know me before trying that word again! But I am curious about how many from Thedas are arriving here...

[Dorian smiles, amused as he watches her. It's true, he has no romantic interest in women, but harmless flirting is fun and it is what passes for friendly banter, for him. If it makes people happy, there is no harm in it.]

That is a good question, I wonder myself.

Fenris and I made more sense, since we already had experience in places like this. Well, sort of... Not like this, but...

Ummm... Well, Earth, a planet very different from the one nearby, but it's more of a when than where. It wasn't always there.

But we also had to live upon it's moon for a time, in a construct like these ships.

They're merely different realms, like the Fade!

[ Should she answer that? Merrill has no shame in being a mage, but she knows it can be stupid to paint a target on oneself, when this is like standing in the middle of a crowd!

Then again, many people saw her use magic already, and nobody seems to care. Much like Exsilium. ]

I was wondering if, perchance, your magic brought you to different worlds. I haven't heard of the magic being theorized before, but...I thought it might be theoretically possible.

[He smiles a little.]

I am a mage, as well. An Altus, from Tevinter.

No, no! Nothing like that. It was technology, something I would be happy to show you more of once you're off that ship.

What's an Altus?

A kind of mage, from Tevinter. We Altus are the upper-class, trace our lineage from the Dreamers. If I wasn't an Altus, I would be Laetan but...unfortunately, I have the dubious honor of being the result of generations of careful breeding, you see.

Upper-class? All magisters come from highborn families, don't they?

Not in the least. I have no illusions about Tevinter, unlike many who call the Imperium their home.
