first one to make that doctor who joke loses

Who: Everyone! All of you!
Broadcast: Maybe!
Action: Definitely!
When: Anytime during the toxic moon event!

[boy oh boy, isn't everyone just so excited to explore this... charming... place...?

this is a game-wide mingle and the timeframe isn't super-important, so throw in with whatever you want! play war games, go shopping for gas masks, get lost in the wilderness, hide up in the Iskaulit and refuse to set foot on the moon, anything goes.

here's the main event info post for reference! have fun!]

[Stark sounded familiar. Who mentioned that name to her recently?]

I'm sure she chose you for a reason. [She'd liked Vision right away. She wasn't sure he seemed like a leader to her, but certainly a good teammate. And she still didn't know him well yet. She'd never seen him in a crisis. She wouldn't count him out.]
Already three people gone since I arrived. [Dean, Leia, and Natasha. Granted, Leia had transferred, but now it seems she's gone from the fleet too.] Is the turn over usually so much?

[He certainly doesn't see himself as a leader - that should go to someone with more experience. But as someone who pays attention to detail and cares about the ship, he feels he can handle that much, at least. And if he has to make any unpleasant commands, Wrath can back him up.]

About one a month, or so it seems. Hardly anyone of the crew I arrived here with is left. [Which is sad to think about, really. But it doesn't stop him from wanting to do good by the crew.]

I think it's likely Natasha chose Wrath and I because we do take an active interest in management. She was a military officer for many years, if she hasn't told you.
passingthrough: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-26 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Those choices work. You'll be happy to know I'm not planning any coups. [Not that she wouldn't try to assert herself if the situation called for it.] Wrath told me a little about the situation at home. [Kitty wasn't especially close to anyone in the crew yet, but she'd met them all and liked them. And, to be fair, she was still warming up to people in general. Caring is one thing. Being vulnerable enough to let people in is another.]
unbearablynaive: (geared up)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-26 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[That gets a smile.] I hope not to provide a reason for a coup, but I suppose one can never tell what the future will bring. Naturally, if you've any feedback I'd be glad to hear it.

What she's told me is fascinating, though I don't pry. [Which is the same thing he thinks about everyone he's talked to, as it happens, but then he generally likes people.]
passingthrough: (Watchful)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-27 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you don't have to worry about that. If I have suggestions or issues I'll bring them up. [She wouldn't say her relationship with leadership she's had in the past has been contentious, but she is young and bold and speaks her mind. Those relationships tended to fall into a parental place under the circumstances. She probably won't be calling Vision daddy anytime soon though. No worries. I'll do my best not to be annoying.

You don't really seem like the prying type.
unbearablynaive: (slight smile)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear it. [And like basically everything else he says, he sounds very sincere; he does prefer openness and honesty about these kinds of things.]

No, I can't say I am. It hardly seems necessary. [Frankly, it's lucky for all of them he doesn't like to pry. Between his technological prowess and having a symbiotic relationship with the Infinity Stone of the Mind, he could learn quite a lot that people would rather keep hidden.]
passingthrough: (Curious - More than the surface)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-28 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, yeah. People usually reveal themselves in time anyway especially if you know what to watch for.

I was friends with a criminal profiler in my last life. [The prison. And when she says friends she means, well, friends, but also more.]
unbearablynaive: (inquiry)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-28 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
If one knows what to watch for. Yes, that's a very good way to put it.

[Well, now, that's a fascinating tidbit. His eyes open wide.]

Even moreso to them, in that case. I admit my understanding of human behavior is far more based in theory than experience, for the most part.
passingthrough: (Contemplative)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-28 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's too bad he isn't here. [Or a relief? Who even knows with the two of them.] He was actually teaching a criminology class back in the prison. That is a strange sentence now that I think of if. Anyway, it was useful, but I'm sure it takes awhile to really hone in on things like microexpressions.
unbearablynaive: (oh dear)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-28 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Microexpressions. [The Vision looks somewhere between concerned and rueful; a profiler would have a lot to say about his own expressions based on that alone.] It would be fascinating to learn, I think. Teaching criminology to prisoners hardly seems less strange than teaching computers to space-farers.

[And goodness knows he's had to do that a few times.]

It was interesting. I don't think I'd really be qualified to pass it along though.

Do you get a lot of requests for that? [Then again Makie was from a time without technology, wasn't she?]

I wonder if it seems as telepathy to someone unfamiliar with the technique, or if it makes one any better at poker.

The augment takes care of a great deal, but there are a fair number unfamiliar with androids. I've taken to referring to myself as a golem in those cases.
passingthrough: (Smile)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-28 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
He is scarily good at poker, but he was also born in Vegas, is a genius, and can count cards. [How did she casually get herself into a conversation involving the person she misses most from the prison? Oh, right, because she misses him and tries not to talk about it probably. It just leaks out now.]

A golem, huh? Yeah, that would probably throw some people. The mutant thing confuses people too. Sometimes they think it's a negative term, so they try to convince me I'm not really one.
unbearablynaive: (slight smile)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-28 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it difficult not to count cards. [He sounds apologetic but also smiles; it would be good to meet Kitty's friend if for no other reason than that they were friends.]

It's a fair enough simplification. In a sense, I was inanimate material brought to life by magic.

[The mutant thing makes sense, too.] They are perhaps used to mutations which harm an organism rather than help its survival. Those are called "adaptations" instead. Even so, it would be more respectful to use the term you prefer.

Well, if he ever shows up I'll direct him to you for a game. Should be an interesting match up. [Definitely interesting if he ever shows up. Probably too much to hope he'd have memories of the prison if he did.]

So many problems could have been prevented if whoever named us in the first place had gone with Adapters or something. [There's a little smile and isn't it nice to be on the ship where you can see a person's smile instead of the polluted moon.]

I knew a golem once. I mean someone who always identified that way. Or one and a third golems maybe.
unbearablynaive: <user name=starcandies> (innocent)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-28 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd like that. [He'll even promise not to use the Mind Stone to cheat, because what fun is a game like that if you cheat?]

I can only imagine. None here have given you any difficulty, I should hope? [Even he hasn't seen too much pushback, and he's very obviously visually different than the other Fleet residents.]

One and a third? A part-human, or some other situation?
passingthrough: (Concerned - Might comfort you)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-29 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
[She shakes her head.] No, nothing like home. Dean was suspicious, but we had an understanding. Not that he stayed around long.

And as far as the golems go I knew a little golden flying adorable ball and a guy who was part rock golem. I'm not sure if the math adds up, but I'm sticking with one and a third. [Because the math doesn't really matter.]
unbearablynaive: (inquiry)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-29 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
No, he didn't. [And he does look thoughtful about that much; the Windrose has seen a fair amount of activity recently, for all that they've finally enough room for everyone again.]

Ah--would that be Timcanpy, by any chance? I've not met any rock golems here, but Allen's friend is in the Fleet along with him.
passingthrough: (Surprise)

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-29 03:02 am (UTC)(link)

I've only seen him on the videos, but yes. I believe he was rescued from a casino?

[He's glad to see her so excited, actually.]

They're both on the Blue Fish, as I recall.

I did see Allen here. [It had been kind of a big moment for her.] There was a version of him in the prison. We were friends. [He was her first friend there, and the person she always hoped would return after he left.] The one here doesn't remember anything like that.
unbearablynaive: (mind stone)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-29 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
He seems to be very friendly; I'd think the same would apply to either version of himself.

Or would it be too strange for you?

I'm not sure if I have strange threshold anymore. I'd rather get to know him again than avoid him. Kind of like all the X-Men who aren't actually from my world.
unbearablynaive: <user name=starcandies> (innocent)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2016-03-29 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
You've mentioned the X-Men before, I think. I do know Rogue, but I'm not sure who else here might be someone you knew already?

[personal profile] passingthrough 2016-03-29 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Kurt, he's blue. The most recently arrived version actually is from my home. [Her very own person from home. That's never happened before.] Remy from Wonderduck though in his world he was never actually an X-Man. Logan and Ororo. Laura too, but I never knew a version of her in my world. [And then there's Erik, but he goes by Blade and she's not sure what to call him.] A version of the leader of my world's team is here too. I guess the Atroma decided they really like us since most of that list showed up in the last two months. [She'd be listing Wanda too if she knew she was around. For all Kitty's exploring she really should get more curious about just reading crew manifests.]
