I believe you. It'd just taste like - metal and glass to me anyway; taste is the only sense I have that hasn't mutated. [a pause] As far as I know.

So - uh, you don't age the same way humans do?

Not... exactly.

When my parents sent me to protect my cousin, his capsule stayed on course and landed when it was supposed to. Lucky, for an infant.

I got waylaid by 20 years in a place called the Phantom Zone, which is like... space stasis. I went into it as a 12 year old and I came out of it as a 12 year old. My cousin was 20. So much for looking after him.

Geez . . . [he sounds amazed and sympathetic at the same time. What is space, wow]

So . . . he ended up being the one to look after you?

He found me a great family who miraculously was willing to take on the task of raising an alien teenager and popped in from time to time.

He inspired me to become a superhero, Supergirl. He goes by Superman. It's all a little on the nose, but there's only so much control you can have over your image.

[beathach]

Ah - that's good, that he was able to help you.

I mean, I'm not sure it's what our parents expected, but he was found by an incredible family in Kansas. Somehow they raised him up right.

Bad? It's amazing. I love helping people and being myself. I still have the secret identity thing going on for my day job, and to protect my friends and family, but when I'm Supergirl... it's incredible.

I think parents just really want their children to be happy? At least, uh - that's what mine wanted. So if you're happy, I think they would be?

[he's basing this entirely off his incredibly normal parents]

Wow . . . I understand the - wanting to help people part. That's amazing, though. You're really a superhero. [he says it then laughs a little] Viva would love you.

I think our parents mostly wanted us to be alive.

[ said lightly, without any bitterness ]

Ah - well, that too.

But Viva's someone I knew in Kyriakos. I met her - like this, actually, [he gestures to himself] and she thought I looked "cool". And after she saw some of my memories, she started saying I was a superhero. [he shakes his head, but he sounds incredibly fond]

Well, you have super powers. Do you save people? Do you have a cool outfit?

And anyway, you do look cool.

I've . . . helped save people? And I had an outfit a long time ago. We gave each other code names, too.

What was your code name?

[ she's on the ground now, btw, since flying can tire her out at this stage ]

"Beast". It ended up sticking longer than I thought it would.

I didn't choose Supergirl. My dayjob boss did—the media mogul. I think she feels a sense of ownership over the persona, which is hilarious because she doesn't know I'm her.

[he shrugs] It's better than "bozo", which was the first one someone tried to give me. [not seriously, of course]

That's . . . geez. Is it difficult? To - have a secret identity, right near someone who . . . I imagine keeps up on what you're doing?

I think I'll stick with Hank, if it's all the same to you.

And it's almost impossible. Thank goodness that my sister's boss is a shapeshifter, or else I would've been definitely fired for not being able to prove I'm not Supergirl.
