[The night has finally come--the Gravity Rush is nearly upon us! What normally serves as a large performance hall has been gutted, emptied of its boring furniture and rigged up into a fantastical mismatch of technology and old culture. No matter where you go tonight, you're encouraged to move around, dance, play games, whatever helps you sleep in late tomorrow morning.

If you aren't one for scurrying around a ballroom all night, there's always plenty of people-watching to do. After all, so many people are wearing extravagant costumes and elaborate masks. How can you even tell who is who? Get lost in a crowd of sequins, chatter with a sun and a moon, or try to beat the guy in the monster-mask at a game of cards. Meet your friends or make some new ones--this masquerade party has begun!]

Beverly Crusher

[Beverly's identity is hardly a secret behind the half mask she is wearing (a mask which, by the way, looks suspiciously similar in style to the mask of a certain other party-goer - paper and printed word, matching pages in a book). If her smile doesn't give her away, her signature red hair will, done up in a high French twist. Her dress is old-fashioned, reminiscent of 18th century Earth, not at all like the clean lines and solid colors of her usual clothing. This is immensely fun for her, getting the chance to wear a costume for the first time in months and giving her love of both theater and dance a chance to shine. Though she spends a good deal of time with Daneel, she will happily dance or chat with almost anyone who asks. Or, she just might ask you! Who knows?]

Maglor looks like he belongs to the sea - ocean-green armor over Finwean blue robes, and a mask to match. But in concession to the occasion his hair is begemmed in a very particular braiding pattern - red and white and blue gems and twisting gold wire, the colors of his long-fallen house.

"Lady Beverly?" He spots her from where he has been watching the crowds and the musicians, idly fingering his silver harp, and bows in greeting. "You look well tonight, milady."

Upon hearing his voice, Beverly turns to Maglor with a gentle smile. All those gems - there's no doubt as to his relation to Finrod. Beverly curtsies back, graceful and easy as if she's done it her whole life (holodeck programs are a big help in this department). "And you as well. How... have your first few days been in the fleet?"

"Strange." He admits. "But folk have been kind, which has helped. I remain uncertain what the...augment? Wishes for me to do, but at the least things are...comfortable. But what of yourself?"

"All things considered," (you know, things like passing her year anniversary here and getting punched in the face) "I'm doing well. And I'm glad to hear the transition hasn't been... too difficult for you. Perhaps I can help you figure out what your augment is."

[Beverly's fiery hair is hard to miss, and anyway Riona did see what she was wearing earlier. She strolls up to the good doctor, leaning over to get a look at her mask. And she's hit with an overwhelming urge:]

Care for a dance or chat, Beverly? Or are you all booked up for the evening?

[Dryly. And one eyebrow is definitely raised under her mask. You can't see it, but it's there.]

That was terrible.

You wound me! I spent a whole two minutes thinking of that one!

[SHE LOVES YOU, REALLY.]

A whole two minutes, huh? Well then, far be it from me to disparage your hard work.

[But finally she grins.]

[Despite how concealed she is, Nightingale's identity is fairly obvious, at least in part due to the purple dress and the bird mask. (The scar on her elbow that looks like it came from a bullet going clear through probably bears noting, too.) But she's carrying herself with surprising grace and poise, apparently used to this.]

Hello. I didn't know you were so interested in these sorts of things.

[Even if she didn't recognize her by her clothes, Beverly would definitely recognize Nightingale's voice. She quirks her mouth in amusement.]

Oh? What makes you say that?

Well, it just doesn't seem the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a doctor.

[Beverly's smirk grows into a grin.]

Doctors do know how to have fun you know.

Most of us, anyway.

[Furiosa is glad to find a familiar face among the crowd. Between the members of the Fleet she'd never met, and the natives of the land, there were a lot of strangers. And while she didn't necessarily have a problem with strangers, she still held herself guarded among people he didn't know.]

Beverly, hello. Your dress is ... quite something. [Impressive is one word for it.]

Furiosa! Thank you!

[Beverly smiles, running her hands down the bodice of the dress.]

I was worried at first it'd be a bit too much but - [She looks around at the great variety of costumes and gives a small laugh] - I see now there was absolutely no reason to worry.

I think you definitely fit right in. My dress might be too simple, but I couldn't pull that off.

[She motions to Beverly's dress. She wouldn't have known what to do with all those ruffles.]

I wanted to thank you, too, for helping out with Max. I know he can be ... problematic, but he's a good guy.

[Beverly glances down at her dress when Furiosa gestures at the ruffles, but quickly looks back up in mild surprise at the thank you.]

Of course. Anything I can do to help him, I will.

In truth, it's Beverly's dress that first catches Syeira's eye. It's so different. Such full skirts and looks like it must be made of silks. When she's close enough to speak, she realizes who the red head under the mask is.

"Beverly!" Sye's voice chirrups from just slightly behind her. "You look so lovely. I've never seen a dress like that."

Beverly starts at the sound of Syeira's voice, but when she turns and sees who it is, she breaks out in a huge smile. "Well thank you!" She looks down at the dress for a moment. "It's modeled after some styles popular in Earth's past, when masquerades like this were particularly popular."

"It must be so heavy for the skirts to be that full!" She moves a hand like she wants to touch the shiny fabric. She's never heard of hoops or petticoats or the like. They don't exist where she's from, so she is actually picturing hundreds of layers of cloth to make that bell shape in the skirt.

Beverly smiles. "Go ahead, you can touch it." Not like she's going to be wearing it all that often. "It's heavier than my typical clothing, certainly, but it's not as heavy as it looks. I've got petticoats underneath that help hold it up."

[Vima is happy in her space triceratops Thon mask, which renders her recognizeable only by the read hair, but she grins behind it when she sees the doc in a rather elegant get-up with a stylish little mask.

She heads over, taking care to be quiet and approach from behind, before saying hello.]

I don't think I've seen so many ruffles and frills on one dress before.

[Beverly jumps both at the sound of Vima's voice and at the sight of a giant dinosaur head. Her hand goes to her heart and she laughs.]

Vima! You scared me!

[Vima laughs too, happy to have gotten the reaction she wanted.]

This guy in a bad mood is pretty scary, at least if you're not on his side.
