[ His mouth quirked. ]
Would you look at that? Seems you and I do have something in common after all. I knew we'd find something eventually.

That depends - do you breathe oxygen or something else?
[ He takes it stride, used to a sharper tongue from a certain southern doctor. It took more than that to deter him. ]
no subject
But I'm certain you know that.

It's eighth grade science, which I passed believe it or not.
[ He picks up his own and tosses it, grinning when he manages to land close to the center, but not dead on. What? He wasn't aiming for perfection, but he was happy when he got close. ]
By the way, that one does not get you another glass of wine.
[ He wags his finger at the other. ]

[ He huffed, sipping from his drink and regarding Eric as he spun a dart between his fingers idly. ]
So where do you come from, Eric? We didn't get to that subject last time we talked.
no subject
Earth. 1973.
no subject
[ He let out a soft whistle. ]
That's an interesting point in history - an interesting era, I should say.
All of this must be quite a technology shock.
no subject
I take it you're from a future Earth, then. [Erik knows about one future, and one only. One that was hopefully dead and buried.]
It's a shock in general, you realise.
no subject
You would be right. I'm from the year 2260.
Well, I meant besides the whole kidnapping part.

I had, at least, seen DVD players and computers before coming here. More advanced ones. [He had refused to believe an entire computer could fit into the tiny laptop for a while. But he'd gotten used to the idea eventually.]
no subject
Heh, in my era, DVD players are considered vintage, at minimum. I don't know of anything that comes on a disc anymore.
[ He paused for a breath as he thought about it and shook his head. Nope. ]
You guys would have just barely gotten to the moon in the seventies, right?
no subject
Yes, and I hope you won't be as bewildered by that idea as the last person I told. [That starry-eyed Luke Skywalker and his careless amazement.] The moon landing was four years ago.
no subject
Bewildered? Why would I be bewildered? It's interesting that you are from a time period that's so close to the initial contact, but that event is part of my Earth's past too.
[ He cocked his head at him and he his mouth quirked a little at the corners. ]
Are you one of those who thinks it didn't actually happen?
no subject
no subject
[ That gets his mouth to curl in his habitual grin and a soft laugh. ]
And what might those be, if you don't mind my asking? Maybe I can shed some light on a few.
