[ His mouth quirked. ]

Would you look at that? Seems you and I do have something in common after all. I knew we'd find something eventually.

grandstanding: (I can't stand this indecision)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-09 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
I also enjoy breathing. Will you add that to the list? [He's not about to let that pass without a snipe.]

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-05-11 03:53 am (UTC)(link)

That depends - do you breathe oxygen or something else?

[ He takes it stride, used to a sharper tongue from a certain southern doctor. It took more than that to deter him. ]

grandstanding: (I read your thesis and it sucked)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-11 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
The air we breath has more than oxygen in it. [He tosses another dart at the board. It strikes dead centre, right next to the last one.]

But I'm certain you know that.

It's eighth grade science, which I passed believe it or not.

[ He picks up his own and tosses it, grinning when he manages to land close to the center, but not dead on. What? He wasn't aiming for perfection, but he was happy when he got close. ]

By the way, that one does not get you another glass of wine.

[ He wags his finger at the other. ]

grandstanding: (.... :))

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-18 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's a smart move. [He sips at the indicated wine, amused. It had been a silly bet to start with, little though Kirk knew it.] I wouldn't want a second before finishing the first, anyway.

[ He huffed, sipping from his drink and regarding Eric as he spun a dart between his fingers idly. ]

So where do you come from, Eric? We didn't get to that subject last time we talked.

grandstanding: (This hat is for business.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-21 10:27 am (UTC)(link)
[He huffs at the question, because in this place that covers anywhere from the street number to the universe. So he answers in a general and a specific.]

Earth. 1973.

[ He let out a soft whistle. ]

That's an interesting point in history - an interesting era, I should say.

All of this must be quite a technology shock.

grandstanding: (This hat wasn't even in the movie.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-23 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
[He gives Kirk a considering look - the first one not to be derogatory in the slightest.]

I take it you're from a future Earth, then. [Erik knows about one future, and one only. One that was hopefully dead and buried.]

It's a shock in general, you realise.

You would be right. I'm from the year 2260.

Well, I meant besides the whole kidnapping part.

grandstanding: (Yes everyone here seems competent)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-24 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Much further than 2022. Too far to think about in any detail; he'd be long dead by then.]

I had, at least, seen DVD players and computers before coming here. More advanced ones. [He had refused to believe an entire computer could fit into the tiny laptop for a while. But he'd gotten used to the idea eventually.]
universal_charm: (Quiet Smile)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-05-26 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ Forty years shy of when Kirk knew in Earth History than mankind achieved warp travel, and thus drew the attention of the Vulcans. ]

Heh, in my era, DVD players are considered vintage, at minimum. I don't know of anything that comes on a disc anymore.

[ He paused for a breath as he thought about it and shook his head. Nope. ]

You guys would have just barely gotten to the moon in the seventies, right?
grandstanding: (This hat is for business.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-26 10:02 am (UTC)(link)
[The moon again. He sighs.]

Yes, and I hope you won't be as bewildered by that idea as the last person I told. [That starry-eyed Luke Skywalker and his careless amazement.] The moon landing was four years ago.

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-05-29 03:36 am (UTC)(link)

Bewildered? Why would I be bewildered? It's interesting that you are from a time period that's so close to the initial contact, but that event is part of my Earth's past too.

[ He cocked his head at him and he his mouth quirked a little at the corners. ]

Are you one of those who thinks it didn't actually happen?

grandstanding: (My premonition of the world.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-05-29 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
I have enough conspiracy theories in my life without adding a ridiculous one like that.
universal_charm: (Default)

[personal profile] universal_charm 2016-06-01 04:54 am (UTC)(link)

[ That gets his mouth to curl in his habitual grin and a soft laugh. ]

And what might those be, if you don't mind my asking? Maybe I can shed some light on a few.

grandstanding: (But be careful what you wish for.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-06-02 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
It's not your concern. [They all revolve around Kennedy, and his hand in the assassination. Not something he feels the need to discuss, especially with someone far removed from the event.]
