Cryo? Is that how you got your name? [Wondering how long her spent in there total now.]

Not...really. My codename was the Winter Soldier. When I came here, I didn't really know anything else. Allen Walker came up with the name. He said it wasn't appropriate to call someone 'Asset', either.

[ Such a long time, Kitty.. ]

Allen? Of course... [She looks down for a moment.] He has a knack for helping people on the path back to being something...more. [She'd been so close to the Allen in the prison. She'd managed to deeply damage any hope of a relationship with the one here already by something stupid she'd done in the prison.]

It was the first thing I could really call mine, so it's stuck, now.

There aren't that many things in this world that we can definitely hold on to. I'm glad you have one now. [Especially when they can strip your memories and freedom. Nothing is saying he'll even be able to keep something as simple as a name. Erik was in a place where he ended up going by Blade because he'd lost the memory of his name. His whole identity.]

[ He glances over at Peggy, shaking his head slightly. ] Just friends. I wasn't going to come, at first.

I don't think I know her. Someone you met here or back home?

Peggy Carter. She knew me.. Uh. Before.

[Yes, that would be weird to find out and then to realize Steve Rogers is the Steve Rogers and then fangirl him while he says inspirational things to her and she melts into a puddle of feelings. You know, if he showed up in a couple of weeks after this conversation.]

How's that going? [She imagines it must be hard to be remembered as someone you aren't anymore. Actually, she only has to partially imagine it. She knows she's changed a lot since Kurt last saw her even if it's only been a year. It was a very different year than she lived back home.]

It's harder for her.

[ He's aware that he doesn't measure up to the man he was before HYDRA. When she sees him, she must think a stranger is wearing an ill-fitting skin. It's frustrating for Winter, but he's not burdened with most of his previous memories as a reminder. ]

It's probably a different kind of hard for both of you.

She wants her friend back. I'm not him. [ Not anymore. ]

Well, if she had him back then she'd lose you as you are now.

I'm wondering if that's such a bad thing.

Well, I didn't know old you. [Does Jim count?] And I like knowing current you.
