So... maybe they could all end up like this. [If it's a progressive thing. That's sad to think about. Sam comes from Earth as well, but he's never mentioned anything like that, so it's probably just worst case scenario thinking.]

Perhaps. There is always hope. There are plenty of very intelligent people back home that I doubt would simply sit back and let it happen.

That's good to know. [Nobody would stand in the way of such people, right? It isn't a problem in her world, so Nami can't fathom that there's money to be made in letting the world go to hell.]

I have a weapon at home that could at least clear the air for a while. Give them a clear day. But it wouldn't last.

That does not exactly sound like something I would call a "weapon."

[She laughs softly.] The science behind it isn't, no. It's used to bring hope to small towns afflicted by drought. I weaponised it so I could keep up with my crew-- but it still has a whole lot of benign uses.

Not that long ago at home, I had to clear an island of its poison gases so we could survive there. It's just controlled wind. In a place like this where the poison comes from the ground, though, it wouldn't last.
