I'd hardly say so. Being a... tactical officer isn't all that difficult, I find.

[Trying to play it off because ha, Beverly is right but Riona doesn't want to let on just how right she is. Secrets to maintain and all that.]

[Beverly raises an eyebrow and glances sidelong at Riona. You know she meant more than your duties as a tactical officer, but she'll let it slide. This is a party, after all.]

Careful. Don't want to jinx us.

[She shoots Beverly a wicked grin as she approaches the drinks table. As she mulls over what she wants, she glances down at her chest.]

Thank you for helping me cover up my scar. [Though not much of it would have been visible above the top of her dress, it still would have made her very self-conscious. Her wedding ring hanging on her necklace just touches the top of where it was, and yet one could hardly tell it was there.] It's such an ugly thing.

[Beverly smiles softly. If she only had her tools from home, she could do more than cover up the scar, she could remove it. But, it is not to be, not for now at least.]

[She leans against the bar and raises an eyebrow.]

I mean, that'd be a strange reason for it, but sure. It'd be time consuming, but not impossible. I've done it before.

Don't think I've ever had it. Or it goes by a different name where I am from.

Oh, you ought to give it a try then! We'll get one minty drink and one not, so if you don't like it, I'll take yours.

[Decision made, she walks up to the bar and orders two drinks: one more traditional fruity punchy drink and one mojito, which she hands to Riona.]

[Riona thanks Beverly before taking the offered drink and sipping tentatively. She pauses, running the taste over her tongue. Her lips instinctively bunch up a bit when the aftertaste kicks in.]

It has a bit of an aftertaste. I don't recall anything like this on Thedas. Still, I think I like it.

You do? Oh, good! I wasn't sure - there are people who don't like it much. But! Mint tastes excellent with chocolate as well - we'll have to find some for you to try sometime.

[She takes another sip. The aftertaste will take some getting used to.]

I can understand why. It's an odd flavor, one I don't think I would be able to ingest a lot of at a time.

How is your drink?

[Oh! Right! Beverly takes a sip of her cocktail then swirls the glass around as she studies the liquid, which is a bright lime green.]

Very good! Not very strong, but that’s probably for the best.

[She laughs.] I'm too old to deal with hangovers any more.

You make yourself sound as if you're a crone far past her prime! Do not sell yourself so short, Beverly.

[Dryly:] Call me when you're almost fifty and had too much wine the night before and then we'll talk.

[Though let's be honest here, Bev, the bigger problem is that you would be all up on Daneel if you were drunk and no one needs to see this.]

Come now. I knew a woman with at least one decade on you and she shrugged off Oghren's Special Brew. The brew which knocked me, my husband, and two others on their asses.

Any particular reason you're trying to get this poor old crone drunk, hmm?

Why not? Tonight is about revelry, after all. And I've already gotten to see Robb quite inebriated. Might as well try and get as much of the crew to his state as possible.
