[Hank, in all his blue beauty, is surprisingly, not in the lab. Late nights tended to be quiet, and while he wasn't avoiding running into anyone, he honestly preferred when the ship was less active. It gave him a chance, when he wasn't working on something, to wander around and let his mind do the wandering as well.

And - well, he finds himself wandering into the kitchen to get a drink. Not that food wasn't appealing either, but he didn't want to end up awake until the early hours of the morning. Again]

[ Some might suggest a better sleep schedule, but in this case? Sascha is more than fine with discovering people awake at the same time as him. He's not surprised to see someone in the kitchen at this time of night--he can smell someone there before he even enters.

No, what makes him do a double-take behind his shades (yes, he wears shades at night because he's cool like that) is that he is blue....and not Kurt. ]

Hank turns, a greeting on his lips before he pauses, a brief confused expression on his face. This wasn't someone part of the crew, and while he hadn't met everyone just yet - well. It wasn't odd, but he hadn't been expecting anyone to come visiting this late.

I altered my genes. The blue happened because I used someone else's genes, and they were blue.

Oh. Hank makes a noise that sounds suspiciously like a laugh] No, genes as in - genetics, not clothes. Cells. That sort of thing.

[ genetics hasn't really been a Thing where he comes from, and even less so for Sascha. He's never had a formal education, and prior to arriving he couldn't even read. ]

[hmm. How can he explain this in a way that's - simpler than this. He's at least familiar with that sort of thing not being well-known]

It's - fur, but yeah, it did. [a little wryly] I can't grow a beard otherwise.

Fur--! [ OH MAN. Colour him excited (get it), Sascha's going to perk up right away and...sniff. Because that's normal, yup. ]

[p l e a s e. For something he normally has issues with, though, he's . . . tickled by Sascha's innocent questions. Which is weird in and of itself because these are not usually the questions he gets]

Well, that's because I'm not an animal, I'm a mutant. [and because he knows that's the next question:] A human with - uh, something different than an average human. Science stuff.

[ And he actually happens to very much like the ones he does know, because they are generally rather nice to him. Even if sometimes Kurt teases him.
