[ and she heads over! she knocks on Margaery's door ]
action
[ she sits on her bed, fabric placed just above her knees. it's not silk, not even close, but it's soft enough and yields easily to the needle and the thread. ]
come, sit with me. May I kiss your cheek?
no subject
[ she sits and leans her face toward Magaery so she can kiss her cheek, and picks up a corner of the fabric to check it out ]
It's a lot nicer in person.

[ she turns to look at her ]
go on. tell me of your day.

Weirdly, I realized it was probably my birthday the other day.

[ she gasps, puts down the fabric at once ]
Oh, why did you not say anything? we would have held a celebration. A name day is very important and a very good reason to find any form of wine we could and drink it together. How old are you?
no subject
[ she shakes her head ]
Time is weird. The last place I was before here didn't keep track of it the same way.

[ she thinks of it ]
Let us decide to celebrate it today then and we shall decide you are eight-and-ten.
[ better younger than older, after all ]
What would you like for a gift?

[ she hums in thought and looks at her ]
I do reckon blue will be a good color for it.

[ it's decided. she rises to look through her collection of fabrics ]
should we do flowers? mayhaps leaves?
no subject
Leaves would be better. Flowers are more of my sister's thing.

[ she smiles and fetches the blues she had achieved, spreads them so they may choose between them ]
The darker one is nice but I do favor the lighter color, what do you reckon?

[ she takes it without any further argument, moving back to take her hand in hers and press another kiss to the other cheek ]
the dark one, then. Happy nameday. May you have many more and may they all be blessed.

Thank you... you're being way too nice about everything.
I wish there were better food, though. I don't need anything special, it'd just... be kind of nice.

[ she sits, smile turns into a little faux pout ]
It would have been nice to have some cakes to celebrate with. Mayhaps some fruit, too. I do miss it. The food is quite terrible, I hate saying it, I pity the poor cooks.

My father was killed when the mine he was in collapsed. After that, my mother couldn't take care of us. I can't remember what I told you about how my society is set up, but where I lived in District 12 was probably one of the poorest places in the country. I was 11 and Prim was 7. There are ways to get food from the government, but you have to be between 12 and 18 to qualify, so I couldn't, and my mother couldn't get out of bed to feed us... it's not like we had anything to buy bread with anyway.

[ that was joffrey's biggest mistake. a good thing he will have a queen to amend the impression ]

It's kind of in the Capitol's best interest to keep people hungry and poor, though.
