Good afternoon. I've managed to obtain another local map, although I can't say if there's any accuracy to it. Perhaps you'd like to add it to the databanks?
no subject
Of course, Captain.
[What a strange word.]
Ordis has been combing through information regarding this current system, so long as the integrity of the data is not compromised, it should not be too great a task to determine its accuracy, if the Captain wishes.

[He hands over a datachip - in addition to local coordinates for this system, it mentions several other systems nearby. It may or may not be useful, but he couldn't resist the lure of more potential knowledge about this place.]
Have you made any interesting discoveries lately? Or anything that might benefit the ship or crew?
no subject
What a question though. He pauses, furrowing his brows in thought because this is his Captain, and he can't disappoint.]
Ordis believes...Ordis feels as though there are several key areas in which efficiency could be improved in this ship's navigational functions at this time. It is...difficult to pinpoint exactly how many without direct contact. Unfortunately, Ordis is limited in that regard at this time.

It wouldn't surprise me. between the technology visible on the Marsiva and their willingness to "upgrade" aspects of these smaller ships with application of sufficient funds, I find it clear we're running well below the available technological apex.
I have a certain amount of access. [Thanks both to his natural abilities and his Engineering augment.] If you can outline what you've observed, I'd be happy to do what I can.

Ordis has noticed millisecond delays in response time from manual controls at this point. It would be...far more efficient if he could communicate directly with the systems, as opposed to relying on primitive physical toggles and switches.
no subject
It's a crime that they've stripped you of the ability to do so.
There's not yet an augment ability that would suffice, nor do the various businesses on this moon have anything like it available. It would likely require an implant to your wet matter.
no subject
[There's a note of disgust in his voice, and he purses his lips.]
It is not Ordis'. It is whatever whomever this...shell is. Ordis does not wish harm upon it, but would gladly undergo any process to fix its glaring faults.
[And oh, it's so good that there's someone that understands. It takes at least some of the stress off of his shoulders.]
no subject
[Who knows? It's not like he has a better idea why they decided to put poor Ordis in an entirely unsuitable body.]
In either case, I'll keep an eye open in the areas we visit to determine if there's anything that might be suitable for you to use.
no subject
Thank you Captain. Ordis is in your debt.
no subject
It is my pleasure, Ordis. Please remember you can ask me anything, if you feel the need.
no subject
[Is it his place to ask anything though? This is a very strange, new concept indeed.]
Ordis has...questions. If that is appropriate.
no subject
I would be surprised if you didn't have some questions. What may I help with?
no subject
Ordis...
[How to even start?]
Ordis would like to know threefold. First, are there specific devices available to individuals in which to record thoughts and memories that cannot be tampered with. Second, is there a dormant cephalon in this ship's navigational systems. Third, what are the defensive capabilities of this vessel?
no subject
As you're no doubt aware, most things can be tampered with. However, analog records are easier to place security on. For example, writing in a diary, printing photographs, and the like. Digital measures are far more convenient, but susceptible to alteration; Kurt can at least give one layer of encryption above whatever you're accustomed to, if you'd like to use them regardless.
[If by "cephalon" Ordis means a form of AI, Vision feels confident in answering that.] Not that I've been able to detect. It's very likely the Marsiva has one, however; these ships follow it as drones and cannot leave its range.
I maintain the shields as Engineer. We're capable of withstanding a fair amount of kinetic damage and a great deal of energy blasts; I'll send the specifications to your communicator.

Ordis would inquire then about how to keep records safer. From both outside tampering and-

personal.

[He taps his fingers on the nearest hard surface thoughtfully.]
A paper diary may be best for what you're describing, however.

So long as the vermin do not catch it, perhaps it would be the wisest course of action.
