raven darkholme | ota
[ There's no real way for Raven to avoid how much she's not entirely comfortable with the sandy beaches and the beauty of them, stretching out before her and making her shift awkwardly. When she steps off and away from her ship she makes a beeline to look at them, quickly enough, before she decides that, perhaps, a beach time afternoon isn't on the cards for her, not right now. She's already a little sore about more than her fair share of things, and she has to push herself to step away and walk forward; thoughts of Cuba aren't going to do her any good right now.
A few hours later, though, and she's back, slipping down to sit properly and cross her arms, gazing out at the water. She's back here mostly because she can remember an afternoon conversation with Hank where had idly thought about a beach planet and how they could spend some time together - and now, of course, she has to pick the perfect spot.
It would help if she knew what a good date spot looked like. ]
HOT SPRINGS
[ And, of course, how is she able to resist the promise of a hot springs, something warm and a little self-indulgent? The showers on the Blameless aren't exactly the most exciting and while she imagines she doesn't technically need to shower at all, since she could just reshape herself to a cleaner version, it's an indulgence she thinks she might let herself have.
Standing by one of the springs, Raven transforms from blonde and dressed up to blue (and, technically, naked) before she slips into the spring and sinks down low enough for her jaw to be covered by the warm water.
Perfect. ]
SHOPS / INN
[ Last time she was on a new planet Raven hadn't had much time for shopping, mostly because she was brand new and because the things hadn't really been all that interesting. Now, though, she feels as though she has a little more reason to look around, to peer in and actually see what's going on and what people are selling, and she steps in and out of shops and inns, peeking into things and avoiding most contact - which seems to be something the locals respect.
It doesn't take her long to realise that people aren't fond of the credits she's earned and, instead, she does some work around in some of the inns - it's the same thing that she's done before, and is doing on the fleet, so there's no shame in it. When she has a little money in her pocket she's off and getting herself some little things, perusing the shops with her hair curling around her shoulders. ]
CLOSED TO HANK
[ It doesn't take them too long to set up their own little base on the new planet, and Raven is quick to make it really theirs. The money she earned - which is just acorns, but she's not going to argue - has gone straight on knitted blankets and some casual shirts for herself, and she's standing by the door, considering, before she turns back around and steps over, making her way to where Hank is doing something (reading a book, or reading something, she thinks, it's entirely possible it might be his own notes on this planet) and standing in front of him, expression soft and fond. ]
Do you remember our last date?
no subject
And it's a good thing too, that he's hidden behind a notebook so she can't see how red his ears turn almost immediately. Of course he remembers it.
. . . but he's in a good mood so she gets the bratty answer]
No, I can't say I do. [he says with an even tone, but peeking over the top of the notebook, it's clear that he's joking, what with how amused he looks]
no subject
Ha ha.
[ Not that she has a problem with his bratty side. She's particularly fond of it, actually, and she shows it with how she leans up to kiss his cheek, turning her head to rest her own against his so she can peer down at his notes. ]
Then I guess we just won't have to talk about spending time together. That's a shame.
no subject
She has that effect on him]
Did you have something in mind?
no subject
[ Raven doesn't actually mind all that much if Hank wants to spend his time sitting and reading his notes; it's not as if she wants to do anything other than settle near him and do her own thing, whatever it is she finds to occupy her time. Sometimes that might be her own book or fiddling with her device, other times it's sitting by herself in a corner and practicing using her mutation. It's enough to shock her boyfriend sometimes, but she doesn't feel comfortable not doing it, just in case.
Now, though, her attention is entirely on Hank and she smiles, leaning into him and basking in the touch of his arms around her, holding her in place - because it means he doesn't mind, that she belongs here, and the smile just won't go away. ]
I remember us talking about a beach...

hot springs
He's mildly surprised to spot Raven already enjoying the spring as he approaches - surprised, but definitely not displeased. He hasn't seen her in her real form since she arrived, and was growing concerned at the fact. This puts him at ease. He's certain she can hear him approach, as they both paid keen attention to their surroundings.]
How's the water?
no subject
She's just not used to being blue around strangers unless there was a purpose for it, no matter how confident she was.
Like he imagines, she's not too surprised when he speaks, turning her head a little and offering a small smile and a shrug of her shoulders. ]
It's amazing. You should try it.

[ Or is that being lazy? She shrugs a shoulder, moving along the edge of the springs to give him space and privacy in case he wants to get changed without being gawked at. ]

Raven is of course, beautiful to him in either form--but he's especially fond of her eyes when she's like this, which is why he approaches despite all signs during their previous two encounters pointing to this being a very bad idea. And even more so, because he's about to admit he watched all of that in a few short words the moment he pops up from behind one of the large nearby rocks. ]
--Wow! You really can do science! [ because that's what that was. Science. ]

The innocent pain in her backside. Again. ]
Sascha. [ Raven sighs, trying to relax into the warmth of the water again even as she shakes her head, watching him with an idly frustrated expression that doesn't really make it's way to her eyes. The fact is that she's awkwardly fond of him, even if he has been a slight irritation - mostly because he woke her up and she's not sure she's forgiven him yet. ]
It's not science.

hot springs.
That's an interesting trick.
( She's definitely curious about it, and very non-judgemental in her tone. And she's saying nothing more on it, just getting on with getting into the hot springs herself )
no subject
It's not a trick.
[ Not really. At least there are no weapons pointed at her, and she moves back, darting to the other side of the spring to make room. ]
no subject
( So nonchalant. You're not the first one she's seen. She's also not the first blue person that Lydia's seen, though she will find out that she's the friendlier of the two )

shops
She hasn't figured out the money thing yet, with Moira only just looking around - browsing the wears, familiarising herself with anything that may be different here. It's outside of one of the shops that Moira sees Raven - a shop she's already approaching and can't just back away from. Hopefully Raven isn't so opposed to her presence as some are )
Raven.
( Hey. Aren't these wares nice )
How are you?
( She doesn't know if she was also hurt in that attack - she'd seen her briefly on the ship but her focus had been on Charles )
no subject
Freedom is liberating, and she basks in it, only stopping when she hears a familiar voice. Moira isn't unfriendly, of course, and Raven had quite enjoyed being around her once upon a time, but now she's a stark reminder of something she'd quite like to forget, and she has to try and make sure she doesn't do or say something to ruin the ease between them. ]
Hi, Moira.
[ Well. This is awkward. ]
I'm fine. Glad to get the hell out of there for a while. You?
no subject
It's the first place I've stopped. I didn't want to miss the chance to actually see somewhere.
( To do something more familiar, see a planet. And apparently humans. That part is a little bit weird, she'd have expected aliens or something but- maybe they are aliens, they just look similar. Movies aren't really the best guide to go on )
Hopefully we'll be here long enough to make the most of it.

hot springs
Once he's settled, water level up to his chin, he lifts his eyes over to Raven and says,] A bath is good. Do you think so, too?
[Icebreaker!!!!!]
no subject
Not someone she's familiar with. Either they're curious, they don't care, or they want to gawk at the blue girl sitting in the nice hot water. She's not sure which one it is, even when he speaks, holding her tongue until she shakes her head and settles down. She's not going to waste her time preparing for something that might not happen, not in a conversation, at least. ]
It's not really a bath. There's no soap.
[ Verbose!!! ]
no subject
[He's not argumentative, never wanting to be combative, but what she says is different from what he understands. That's not a bad thing, though. It's an opportunity to learn.]
I was once in a place... Well, I worked there, for a time. And its facility had a very large bath. Everyone could gather there — though it was separated by sex. And in the bathing area, you could sit in the water and soak... After you were done with that, or if you wanted to skip it entirely, you could go to the showers. That was where the soap was. I supposed this place might bet he same, although there are no showers...

hot springsssuh
He's lingering in his own spot to the side, back turned to her; it's quite an odd tattoo he's sporting there, fully stretching from top to bottom, though half of it is currently submerged. She's pretty quiet for his poor tinny ear, but the other finally picks up and he turns to (unintentionally) look suspiciously at the new person.
Oh.
He blinks, recognition there.]
You.
[Spoken like this is hardly a new face to him.
..... Yes, apparently not a new face, even though you're super blue.]
no subject
Still, the voice makes her frown and she turns, twisting her body to look at the stranger - the man with the odd tattoo, the kind that she had noticed as soon as she'd turned up. He's noticed her, now, and she hesitates before her eyes narrow, watching him for a long, drawn out moment before she presses herself to the opposite side of the spring, far from him and his eyes.
He knows her, and she doesn't like it. ]
Me.
[ She's not exactly comfortable with this, and she thinks it shows. ]
no subject
While her wording isn't at all helpful, Max has always been better at reading someone's body language; it's really quite easy, once you've gotten a knack for it, stopped talking so much, learned to watch for dangerous. He sinks back a little, giving even just a little more space as if to try and combat Raven's discomfort.]
You don't remember the Tranquility, mn?
Met you there. Probably not the same you... You called me Darwin back then.
