[Flicking his eyes towards the offered chair, Erik takes it after a moment's pause. If things were going to go poorly, they likely would have already.] It is strange, but I can only speak for my own reality. [It's something he prefers to make clear from the start.]

That seems to be the story from everyone else. I'm from 1973, if that clears anything up.

2003 for me, plus a few years hangin' 'round with a different set of aliens who wanted their own collection of people from different universes. [Remy ignored the hesitation, not put off by it as he himself would had done the same if the situation was reversed, instead focusing on his drink for a moment as Erik got settled.] I, ah, actually use to be 'mployed by Mag- ah, Erik back home.

That happens more often than it should. [Some days it feels like half the people he's spoken to have been abducted across worlds by other beings.

He folds his hands on the table, regarding Remy coolly.]
Employed. [It's not said as a question, but there's certainly one behind it. "Employed" implies a variety of things. Erik's had followers, recruits, yet employment isn't the term he would use.]

[Oh, this brought back a bunch of really bad old memories. Of being across from Magneto, that tone in his voice, the way the environment around him just demanded respect and a dose of fear. It took an effort for Remy to relax the muscles in his back, to not go stiff at that gaze Erik leveled at him and remind himself this was not Magneto. Not the one he knew at least.] Well, it was a slightly forced 'mployment, but I did get paid for m' time. The others also in some ways, bar Fluffy, think he did it just for the thrill of it.

[The answer gives some mixed messages, but Erik thinks he has a better idea of the relationship. Perhaps Remy was dragged along in Magneto's wake, whether he wanted to be or not.] Fluffy seems an odd moniker. Or is that a nickname?

[Oh damn, it was so easy to just run along with those old habits of nicknames, even years after being home and using them there.] Ah, it be a nickname we would never say to the man's face. Johnny, ah, Pyro, St. John, he came up with it for our teammate Sabertooth. The guy look a little on the side of a lion, lots of hair 'nd claws.

Mean bastard. [And that had just came out without him meaning to say it.] Don't really wanna cross him.
grandstanding: (A smashing good time.)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-07-19 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
I can see why the nickname might be a private one, in that case.

Yeah, though Johnny never was one for self preservation when it came to stuff he found was funny... or his powers. [It was a good thing John seemed to be fire proof since he never seemed to get hurt when he used his powers. Remy then waved it off.] Ain't 'mportant since they ain't here.

And all of you were working for Magneto. [He thinks that's the case from context, but it doesn't hurt to confirm.]

Ahh, [That was maybe a nicer way of putting it. Blackmailing might be a little closer in some cases.] Basically. Be the best way to sum it up, I guess.

[Reading between the lines, Erik thinks there's more to this story than is being told. Something worse, most likely. He knows in brief lines that have been sketched for him that he's not often viewed fondly.]

From the sounds of it, that was a past arrangement.

Yeah, we all got forced unemployment after an incident where an ancient mutant got woken up. [Remy kept quiet on the details, it wasn't his story to tell, it belonged more to Rogue than anyone else. She had been the one who had been thrown into the middle of it, her powers used against her to raise Apocalypse. He had just been a goon stumbling around trying to get her back.] We 'nd the other mutant teams of the area had tried to stop it happenin', but didn't manage to do that 'nd, Mags- ah, Magneto headed off to confront him by himself 'nd left us to, [A sigh.] Get ourselves home. [Oh, hadn't that been fun, trying to get Piotr and John out of Egypt without passports and any real money on hand. Remy's Guild connections had really helped to get them back to the States.]
grandstanding: (So glad we've almost made it)

[personal profile] grandstanding 2016-07-31 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Despite Remy's best efforts, the mention of an ancient mutant does ring a bell with Erik. His eyes narrow for a moment, listening intently. If this is the same 'Apocalypse' that Kurt and Kitty mentioned, this would make a second confirmed world where he appears. Kurt did say that the mutant seemed to have risen in many realities bar Erik's own; this gives credence to that.]

Well. It sounds like an exceptional circumstance to me.

Yeah, not one we hopefully have to repeat. [Though Remy didn't believe a word of that. Apocalypse didn't die, he fled, which meant he was still out there and if he was smart and could recruit followers like he did the last time around, then their world was still in danger.

It was a scary thought.]
