What I've wondered lately is how they choose what worlds we visit.

Rather than just assuming we're running some sort of linear path through the different systems? [A thought that she was ashamed to say she hadn't considered... but was certainly not going to admit she hadn't thought about it. Then again why should she? She had no need to find an exit, a way to escape because she had nothing to go back to. Although it still hit her in the gut hard. Being dead had made her lazy, something she would have to fix.]

If this really is for a show, though, wouldn't they be willing to change course based on some kind of feedback? This ratings business, for instance.

It also seems strange, if we are these so called reality tv show celebrities, that we haven't ran into any civilizations that recognize us, if this show of their's is really as wide scale as they make it out to be. Maybe that is part of their design, making sure they are going to worlds that won't interfere with their little show. [After all, just because Mystique had accepted this was her new reality didn't mean she had to like it. Being some sort of spectacle to be gawked and stared at.] Though you might not be able to guess that considering the, [A sigh inserted between the words, a level of frustration to it.] Level of physical contact that seems normal on this world.

[Erik wrinkles his nose slightly at the mention of this planet's peculiarities. It's something that he finds awkward at best, downright intolerable at worst.]

I've heard that no world visited thus far has heard of the supposed show. That last moon was at a technological level that it should be capable of receiving the kinds of transmissions needed for broadcast. This one -- it's too earthy for that. You're right that it's awfully convenient, that no one has heard of the show that we've seen.

Provided this is not just some big trick disguised by such a lie, however I do not see the reasoning behind it. Why bother lying to us when they had the ability to pick up so many different people, including those more than capable of defending themselves? [As a mutant her mind always went to experiments first, why else would a mutant be held captive? But that didn't fit either, nothing she had encountered felt like what she had been through when she had been held by Trask, unless they were just studying interaction between individuals.]

Also, there is not much we can do with such information if we find out any of this to be true, if there is some special reasoning behind the planet choices. From what I heard it's impossible to stay on a planet after the Fleet has left, [Her face stopping just short of a snarl, even as her tone became tense.] We are short of choices.

Toying with captives is a reason. [It's the reason he'd assigned the Portraits, and certain Echoes. There were other reasons behind his own private imprisonments, but the element of being poked and prodded to see how he would react? It carries through everything. His lip curls slightly as he turns his thoughts away from those old hurts.] They could be collecting across worlds for some purpose, something only served by diversity.

I've heard that as well. It remains to be seen what we can use the information for, if we find it.

Toying is typically a side benefit, not the main purpose. [Though it certainly was fun, when she was on the giving end rather than the receiving one.]

You're hoping you can find enough information to make it so you can somehow return to your world?

I am. I'm tired of being removed from it. [Even if his last stop home had been mostly to recover from the horrors of Kyriakos. There's too much at stake in his world to be comfortable with the idea of being away from it forever.]

And your plans once you do return? [It may not be her world, but it didn't stop Mystique from being curious. To see how much it matched up with that had come to be in her own. To see just how similar he and the Erik she knew were.]

Mutants had just become public knowledge, because of both my actions and those of others.

The fact that all reported sightings had been false only proves how hysterical everyone had become. Still, the furor he'd stoked was dangerous, and he had fled to the less accessible corners of Europe. From there... he was going to wait. He remembers that much.]
