[She peels herself off the floor. It's not the most pleasant sound in the world. Her hair is matted and heavy with honey still.]

What are you doing here?

You sort of went . . . quiet. I think the taste of honey started the, ah, program in your mind. It should be fine now.

[She staggers a few steps like she's remembering how to walk, then steadies.]

Oh... I don't remember.

...did you fix it?

[This entire situation is bizarre.]

I . . . believe I have. You need to wake up and we'll know.

...how do I wake up? [She's never really been in a state like this before that she could wake up from. It hadn't worked that way in Proles, or here. ]

[It sounds like the kind of thing she should be able to handle doing. She swipes a handful of honey off her face and flicks it onto the floor, then closes her eyes and concentrates.

It feels weird, since she doesn't feel like she's asleep. But she does as directed, concentrating on waking up.

[ Charles leans back against his chair, breathing heavily. He's exhausted. ]
