Getting used to it? Maybe that depends on how you get used to it.

If it becomes acceptance because there's no escape then that's worse. If it becomes home, if it has a place in your heart, and you care? You worry? I think that's different. Fighting for your heart and fighting because you have no other choice are different things.

I tried to know. It did become my home, with my family and my friends. I had a chance to go home and I didn't, and sometimes I think about what I left behind, and...

[ Hermione breathes out. No one really knows that she could have abandoned the Drabwurld, gone back home like Remus had, but - what would she have done there? She was scarred and broken and changed, and no one would understand her anymore. She would miss the people she cared about too much. ]

But even now, he can't stomach them. Erik knows, which is why he never pushes Charles to talk to them and Charles leaves Erik's "friends" alone in that regard. ]

I had a home there. Not everyone did.

[ There were people who only ever wanted to get home, and she knew that. Remus was one - he'd never felt comfortable. So many people had come and gone and she'd always understood. She'd always been there, no matter what people chose. That was her decision - it was what she knew she wanted. And that was okay.

Not everyone loved their worlds. She knew that too, and she reaches out for Charles without stopping. ]
