[what are you even talking about Anakin he hasn't tried to be funny!

He turns to glance at the women and immediately looks away, sheepishly rubbing at his neck. Surely they were used to this by now, given just how many visitors he's had up her while he was working, but - maybe not. Oops]

If I showed you here I'd probably scare the very nice women staring at us. [and that'd be bad. But . . . he peers over the edge of the roof, almost casually, as if he's gauging the distance.

Because he is. He glances back to Anakin] We are? [now there's humor in his voice] Do you have powers you aren't confident in too?

[sandhate]

[ he mumbles something about 'not the type of woman he wants staring at him' and moves to grab a wrench from his pack. it's easy to open himself up to the force here, thanks to the life force around them. he floats a wrench mid-air as a demonstration. ]

I have uh "powers" that I am confident in. There's more to it but it... get complicated. Confidence isn't really an issue.

[ he tips head at hank. now he's missing the joke. typical ]

Confidence comes with exposure. Practice. [ a shrug ] Maybe you just need a bit of both.

[Hank blinks in surprise at the now floating wrench; it isn't the first time he's seen objects floating via someone else's power - he was friends with Erik, after all - but every time he does it's hard to hide how impressed he is. He's always impressed with other people's powers, regardless of if they're a mutant or not]

Wow - what do you mean by "complicated"?

[he looks a little sheepish, but he nods]

It's the - exposure part I have trouble with, but I'm trying to work on it.

[sandhate]

My gift is from my connection to the Force - and that is the energy that encompasses all things, that exists in all things. It gets complicated because there are different philosophies of what and where the Force exists.

[ he floats the wrench back into his pack with only mild concentration ]

Well, you sure exposed me to it. Good job, buddy.

[beathach]

It's a very impressive gift. [he very badly wants to ask how it works, or what philosophy Anakin subscribes to, but he's a lot better at holding back nowadays. Especially with things he just wants to try to figure out with science] That does sound complicated, though. I can only imagine all the different philosophies for something like that.

[he considers for a moment, before he pulls his communicator out of his pocket. He can't show him in person, no, but he can show a picture at the very least -

Once he finds it he holds it out to Anakin, looking wry. The picture is of two people - a blue, furry guy, and a blue, scaled woman, posing together in what looks like one of the museums from the poisoned moon]

Now you've been exposed, more or less.

[sandhate]

[ he leans over and looks at the picture. he would have noticed the attachment to blue color scheme but he's more impressed about how sweet it is. something so purely sentimental isn't really allowed in the order, it's frown upon at the very least.

he looks at hank and raises an eyebrow. ]

That's you? Wow. [ a beat. then he points at the blue woman. ] You're a lot more attractive in the picture.

[beathach]

[even if he knows, logically, he won't get the reaction he always expects, it still somehow surprises him no matter what. The easy acceptance people here seem to have to his true form. It throws him off every time, and little by little it's helping get rid of that expectation.

Still. Anakin]

You're funny. [he's grinning, though]

[sandhate]

[ he laughs easily. ] I'm hilarious.

Jokes aside, you don't look that bad. You look like a wookie who's lived on Coruscant a bit too long and found a can of paint. I can't even imagine how hot it would get... [ he looks at hank ] How are you not in that form now?

[beathach]

That's what you think.

I don't - know what a wookie is, though. Or Coruscant. [at the question he shrugs easily] I take something that suppresses that part of my mutation. I wasn't born that way, I sort of . . . did it to myself by accident. The serum temporarily reverses the changes.

And it gets really hot, just for the record.

[sandhate]

Just think you in that form, but brown. They're awful in the heat, they smell and they know it and no one is happy. Coruscant is the planet I live -- lived on.

[ he sort of grimace at the accident but covers it politely - obi-wan did teach him manners - with a cough ] Is that what you do - try and change the mutations?

[beathach]

[he wrinkles his nose a little] Fur and heat don't tend to mix, so I can only imagine.

[he catches the grimace but doesn't comment on it, he knows better. He shakes his head, and now it's his turn to wince a little - he still hasn't found a way to explain it where it doesn't come off as terrible in some way] No, not exactly - when I was a little younger, I wanted to - hide my mutation, but keep the powers it gave me. As you can see . . . it sort of backfired terribly.

[sandhate]

[ He tilts his head, confused and unsure but in good humour. ] As far as I can tell, it looks to me you succeeded.

[beathach]

[he appreciates the good humor]

Mm, eventually. And it more or less works the way I meant it to. [he shrugs a shoulder] It's sort of . . . complicated now. Uh - how I feel about it, I mean. A good sort of complicated.

[sandhate]

Eh, as long as it's good.

You know, on Coruscant, the only mutants that we have are ones that bite you and give you radiation poisoning and transform you into a mindless mutant. [ space logic, don't ask ] Being big, blue and furry doesn't seem too awful in comparison.

[beathach]

. . . no, in comparison it sounds pretty great.

[space logic is frightening, what the heck Anakin]

[sandhate]

[ sorry, living in the lowest level of coruscant does that to people. they just sort of accept it. ]

I can understand why you would want to hide it though. Even now, the ladies we're helping would be more scared and frighten than disturbed if you came in looking like that.

[beathach]

[that is incredibly understandable. He just sort of accepts a lot regarding certain things too, but that's because of living in another world for a few months]

Exactly. And - I mean, I know they'd understand eventually. I just don't want to have to go through the motions in the first place.

. . . and this weather is terrible if you have fur.

[sandhate]

[ dry humor, he likes it. ]

There's that too.

I think it's easier if you're in one of the Core worlds, where there are a lot of different species. You can just ...blend in. Nothing's ever too weird to see on Coruscant.

[he is full of dry humor, you're in luck]

It seems like it'd be easier. I didn't have a problem on the moon, back when we were there. I mostly just got a lot questions about what I was, but they were pretty . . . accepting.

What's Coruscant like? Other than - being full of different species.

[sandhate]

Lively, restless, big. The whole planet is one giant city. It has 5,127 levels; some are born in the lowers levels, and they live and die without ever seeing sunlight. It can be very organic and cold at the same time.

[ he finds himself missing it even with the troubles that waits for him back on coruscant. ]

You in your blue furry form? No one would even bat an eye. Well. [ a snort ] You might get a few interested parties the moment you step out of the docking platform.
