[He had known in a myriad of ways how strong Hermione's feelings were for the Charles of her past, but experiencing it is another thing. Distantly he's glad for Kyriakos and the library, giving him the background he needs to brace himself for the memories of another person, feeling through them, seeing things from their perspective. The pinnacle of this had been witnessing the beach in Cuba from Charles's own eyes - long before he remembered what it was for himself. He lets out a short, sharp breath, taking in the muddle of love and trust and letting it pass through him.

Erik doesn't move as Hermione stands, though he watches her, expression too mixed to be clear. Part of him is still angry, sharp bitterness at a decision he refuses to accept colouring his view. And yet, he knows he's gone too far, and hurt someone he'd started to consider a friend. It results in him being trapped between two poles.]
