Those of you who are familiar—or who have had enough introductions to become familiar—might recognize the striped grey and blue of a Grey Warden uniform, with its high, studded collar, and the curled griffon on the shoulder.

Anders is, for his part, smiling broadly.]

So! Now that I've gotten through the "manhandled into a tin can" bit, closely followed by the "manhandled into a slightly smaller tin can" bit, I thought I'd take some time to say hello. Is everyone comfortable? Because I am not, thanks for asking. [beat] Does it ever bother you how terribly one-sided this is?

[Let him talk and he'll talk. Congratulations on being the captive audience.

Right, back on track.]

Now, I don't usually mind a bit of manhandling, of course, but even I have some standards. It was all terribly anticlimactic. Hardly a kidnapping at all, really.

Anyhow. [with a bit more grandeur:] I believe introductions are in order, don't you? I'm going to eat this [he lifts the little dessert cream in a toast] so you go first.

[she knows that she shouldn't laugh, arriving here is a distressing process... But man, the snark is strong in this one. So there's a slight hint of a smile as she waves]

The reception has been pleasant enough, despite all the rest. I've had much worse, believe you me. I think I'll count the little snacks and the friendly conversation as a win.

[hehe, she dips her head as if to imply that she's curtsying in return] It's a pleasure, Sir Anders. [THEY'RE PLAYING FANCY, its fun...]

And that's a very upbeat attitude to have. Many new arrivals are unable to muster the same optimism.

Best to think positive, I always say. [no he does not] But then, I have a little more experience with this sort of thing than most. I can't exactly blame them for being annoyed, can I?

Oh, here and there. It comes with the territory. [Of being a mage, of being a Grey Warden. He says it like it's not a big deal; it might be hard to tell if he's joking.] Never quite so comfortably as this, though. I have to give them credit.

It sounds like quite a complicated situation. [speaking as someone who was in political prison before arriving] I'm glad this place can serve as an improvement for the time being.

Precisely. So long as it's temporary, I don't mind it so much.

Yes, and no. We've been told that we've been brought here to appear on a television program. It seems impossible that it would last forever, but we have no knowledge of when it will end.

In the mean time, people are thinking about how to find a way to leave, but progress is understandably slow.

[unconfines]

That sounds familiar. [It'll end eventually, but we won't tell you when or how, and you don't get to dictate any of it.] Nice to see some things are common everywhere.

Do you know who I'd talk to about that? The leaving thing. Or thinking about leaving, I suppose.

There's a woman named Diamond who speaks to us, but we haven't yet found any way to communicate with her directly. [she sighs slightly]

I've tried to investigate with the communication devices that are supplied to us, but nothing seems to work.

Figures. It can't ever just be easy, can it?

[The story of his life. As soon as he manages to get out of one cage, the door to another slams shut. This time he didn't even do anything.]

It's true. [she smiles sadly]

The only good thing is that we have not encountered any serious danger or shortage of food. The food isn't... well, it can be tiring, but it keeps us healthy. And there are many kind people aboard these ships.

You know, everyone keeps saying that. About the food. I find it hard to believe that it's really that bad. Is it?

[But his standards are also horrendously low. So.]

No, not that bad. But the tedium of eating the same thing over the course of months, and the odd consistancy... Well, it becomes an easy target for complaints. [she's guilty of it too]

Well. [It doesn't seem to take the wind out of his sails, regardless. Peppy as anything, this one.] In that case, I think I might just enjoy the variety while I have it. Gives me time to one-up the rest of you with clever complaining later, too.

Lots of downers around here, is there? Well, not to worry, I have plenty of experience with that sort of thing. I think I should be able to hold my own well enough.
