You are cordially invited to Cisco and Winn's Not-Too-Terrifying Halloween Costume Party!

[ on the night of the 28th, the lecture hall will open its gates though it'll look remarkably different. Winn and Cisco would have decorated the corridors leading to it with Jack-o'-lanterns made from the pumpkins gathered at the little patch on the planet. The hall itself will be similarly decorated, along with other traditional scary Halloween decorations made from paper and fabric ( don't ruin the little paper spiders, they took hours to make! ). There will be music from various times of Earth-1 and Earth-3, so don't be surprised to find Lady Gaga playing alongside the Spice Girls! Feel free to make requests or otherwise, just show your skills on the dance floor!

There will be a bar run by Nami offering free sodas, though you'll have to pay for your own alcohol ( remember, don't drink and fly! ). Alongside the bar, characters will find a few tables offering candy from Earth-1 won by Cisco at the game room with a little sign reading TAKE ONE, LEAVE SOME FOR OTHERS and quite a lot of space chips and protein dips as well as various candy from all over the different planets ( cleverly hoarded by Winn! ) and a large selection of pumpkin pies and pumpkin treats. Characters will also find a line leading to Cisco's trusty ice cream machine, though it'll only offer peanut butter flavored sorbet.

At the corner of the hall there will be a karaoke machine with a little sign-up sheet. Characters could sign up solo or in groups and list the song they'd like to sing. Keep in mind though, the entire hall will be able to hear your rendition of Sexy and I Know it!

Adventure-seeking characters will be able to follow signs reading HAUNTED HOUSE and reach a large hall that was turned into a maze by large cardboard blocks painted black or covered by dark fabrics. Making it out of the maze won't be too hard and the maze itself won't be too frightening but will be mildly startling. It'll include some nifty engineered animatronics of witches, scarecrows, scary clowns and skeletons as well as holograms of ghosts! The song featured in the invitation will also be heard here, on repeat. It's a good break from the dancing and for some private conversations and moments.

Remember, costume are mandatory! you don't want to be caught by tonight's pumpkin kings, do you? ]

Whoever said that too many cooks spoil the broth clearly hadn't had the pleasure of meeting your...party team, [ she seems uncertain, at first, about committing to the funny little term. ]

It's all quite lovely. [ if tacky, though she's assured by natasha that tackiness is part of the point. ] I can't say we ever did much in the way of Halloween back home.

[ england, this time. and not simply the '40s at large. ]

[ it's pretty clear that he, at least, is having a great time. ] I like your costume - who's it of?

I suppose it's possible the name Ginger Rogers doesn't carry much water by the year twenty...sixteen, was it? Or is it fifteen?

[ it's hard to differentiate, sometimes.

16, good memory. [ a nod, and then a head tilt as he digs through his memory. ] ...dancer, right?

Precisely so. [ peggy adjusts a blonde curl. ] And an actress. Technically speaking, the costume's from a film called Carefree.

[ wryly: ] A little before your time, I imagine.

[winn]

Might be just past my cut-off date - [ he likes old movies, but that's not really his style. ]

Either way, you look great.

Cheers. [ she raises her plate of pie in a mock-toast. ] I might be new to Halloween, but costumes I understand. For the most part -- I confess, I can't exactly place yours.

[winn]

[ putting down his plate, he pulls his mask back on and strikes a pose. ]

I'm the Flash. Superheroic speedster.

[mucked]

[ -- another superhero. it seems there are a great many of them wandering around, tonight. thematic.

quickly: ] Cisco Ramon explained the Flash to me. Created by a malfunctioning particle accelerator, correct? Inhumanly fast. Uncommonly good.

Yeah. [ he nods ] Full disclosure, all I know about him is what Cisco told me too, he's not from my world. And Cisco's the Green Arrow, he's an ally of the Flash, and Kara's the Black Canary who's an ally of the Green Arrow. We kinda have a group theme going, with tributes, kind of like...our way to show our respect and gratitude to our heroes. [ so you see, the captain america thing, it came from a good place! at least it isn't worn by one of the nerdbros. for a sign of respect, cisco and winn sure do shame their costumes on the dance floor. ] I dunno if you know Hank and Raven? They're also in on it, Superman and Supergirl.

I'm afraid I don't know them -- I only met Ramon recently. Even so, I imagine it all took a great deal of coordination.

[ peggy is clever enough to read between his lines. and she decides to be polite by not raising the point -- after all, neither winn nor kitty had been there to witness how steve thought of himself in that particular costume. although it's been a handful of years, she can remember the drawing of a performing monkey. star-spangled. she knows steve doesn't take it to heart, but peggy watched his legacy devolve into hammy radio shows and soap advertisements. it will never sit well with her. and so, to be fair to these good souls from years beyond hers, she swerves the conversation. ]

And all on top of the party itself. You've been busy.

Well, it was pretty easy to coordinate -- [ casually rubbing his chin ] Cisco and I made most of them.

[ he's pretty proud of their handiwork, but it also left him very little time for sleep so while he's usually better at picking up on what goes unsaid - he has no chance to do so tonight, and not just because he doesn't know her well enough to read, though that definitely makes it even more impossible. ]

We usually keep ourselves pretty busy. [ he shrugs ] And it paid off - it's a pretty great party, right?

[mucked]

[ she pierces the pie slice with a fork. chewing her way through a bite -- and allowing herself a moment to maintain her composure. although the party's quite charming, it's hard to completely hide that she was ever-so-slightly out of her element. maybe it's the music, or maybe it's the decor. ]

Certainly one of the grander affairs I've attended during my stay in the fleet. [ ... ] If I'm not mistaken, it looks as though there are sweets collected from all sorts of previous stops.

[winn]

Yeah, I've been hoarding them pretty much from day one. [ he nods ] Or well, from the first day there was anything to hoard, my first planet was that toxic moon - [ scrunching his nose. it wasn't the worst - he got a lot of parts he needed on that planet to recharge kara, but it wasn't the greatest either. ] if felt like the right time to put them to some use.

[mucked]

[ aha. the toxic moon -- that was a dance to remember. she'd brought the blonde wig out for that one, too. but her date had been different. the memory causes a twinge of regret in her gut. someday, bucky was going to wake up. peace would have to be made. ]

As calls go, it's a good one. [ peggy smiles politely. ] Though I might have waited for Christmas, instead.

[ but that's only because of her general ambivalence towards halloween. ]

We're just gonna have to ask all our friends to help hoard for that. [ he shrugs. he loves halloween, but that's not the only reason why they went all out with this party - they both desperately needed a pick me up, and he really wanted a fun night that didn't have the shadow of atroma sponsorship hanging all over it. ]

Any special requests? [ it's weird, to make plans in the fleet when any day they could all be ripped away - but so far winn has been fortunate. while kitty did lose people, he hasn't lost anyone he's really close to yet, so it somehow didn't fully sink in. he's sure they won't resolve the mystery and get home that soon - it's way too complicated a problem, so he can't imagine not being here for christmas. ]

Plenty. [ her smirk is a little wolfish. ] But I'm afraid it's a little early to be making any party commitments -- [ not because of their circumstances, but rather: ] I'll have to keep an eye on my social calendar. I imagine there will be quite a few hosts jockeying for RSVPS.

[ and peggy will go where there's swing music. rogue's party had been delightful, last year -- but rogue was no longer in the fleet. someone else will have to take on that mantle. ]

[winn]

If someone else wants to do it, I'll be happy to demote myself to Santa helper, nobody likes a party hog.

[ though he can't help but feel like that's a bit of a criticism on their party style. well, nerd parties aren't for everyone. ]

Oh, I imagine there will be a handful of different events. There were last year. No need for demotions.

Oh yeah? What happened last year?

The Iskaulit was a bit on the newer side. [ she scoops up a second bite of pie. ] And a young woman hosted a lovely little get-together. Small, but charming. [ ... ] Wonderful music.

What kind of music? [ that's crit, isn't it. ]

[ -- she knows an interrogation when she's in one. ]

Different music. [ peggy's never been known for making things easy. on anyone. ] But a Christmas do is very different, I imagine, from a Halloween do.

Well, yeah, of course - [ for a moment it seems like he's about to list those differences, but he falls short. he wasn't really invited to parties as a kid, and office parties aren't exactly what he aims to replicate here. there hasn't been a lot of real celebrating of holidays in his life. ]
