They didn't have these in your world either?

[she shakes her head] I am from a world without technology.

[Toyed with the plate, looking with distaste at the paste.]
Or anything like this. Is it always this soft?
no subject
[she glances down at the plate and wrinkles her nose in distaste as well]
Unfortunately. It is something of an acquired taste.
no subject
Now I have to learn to make something for myself.
[She pushed the plate away.]
I suppose paste is better than something more difficult?
no subject
[she says it in a teasing tone. The proper sorts were always interesting, especially since in her own world, she tended to keep her distance from them] I could teach you, it is not as hard as one may think.
[she hums] Or nothing at all. When we stop at the different planets, I have been trying to find real fruit and vegetables, at least. Though the paste is not so bad once you get used to it - just soft and odd, like it is not supposed to be that way.
no subject
[She answers the teasing with a small laugh. It had been some time since she actually felt proper and ladylike. She was lesser nobility and a rebel queen, it was difficult to hold herself to the same standards that she used to.]
I should be grateful.
It tastes strange. Are real fruits and vegetables so hard to find at the different planets?
no subject
[Tempest knows that isn't how it works, but hey, she may as well put it out there as an offer to teach what little she can]
You can be grateful when if I manage to teach it properly enough.
On this planet, a friend brought back some things for me, but I've managed to find a few on the waystation as well. It differs from planet to planet.
At the very least, I make sure we have plenty of decent tea.
no subject
[It wouldn't do any good to protest or balk at the idea. She might as well make the best of things.]
Even if you don't teach it properly, I won't really know the difference.
That is something I at least know how to make. My tea doesn't taste terrible.
no subject
[even if it isn't proper, it'll be entertaining. Mostly for Jeyne, because of Tempest's patience is notoriously thin]
Decent tea is a necessity, yes? I don't know how these lot drink that slop from the machine, it's horrid.
no subject
[Tempest was at least nice to offer, even if she was likely to become impatient with Jeyne's lack of understanding.]
You mean that fizzy drink? It tasted strange.
no subject
[because she can turn on the oven, she can cook the things she eats, but past that? Yeah, no]
Yes, that. And there is a green tea, but it does not taste much like the real thing.
no subject
[She knows her limitations and would rather have someone glued that can tell her if she is doing something that could make her sick.]
Better than stale beer and sour wine. There are some things that I am glad are not in this place.
no subject
[she can't help the face she makes at the thought of sour and stale alcohol. She does her fair share of drinking and that it would even exist makes her angry. Watered down is one thing]
Yes, for that I am thankful as well. The bars, at least, carry plenty of alcohol that is decent enough.
no subject
[She can imagine a few instances when having a drink would have eased her mind since arriving.]
So they aren't in the forms of gel? That is one small mercy.
no subject
[she steps past Jeyne and reaches for one of the lower cupboards, opening it and reaching in to pull out a bottle of something "strong". She has no idea what it's called, just that it'll do what she wants it to]
In the event that one cannot get to the bars, I have this.
no subject
Should we open it together? Have a bit as we attempt to cook?
no subject
[she's a terrible influence and she can't bring herself to care. Cooking while drinking spells disaster and yet]
no subject
[It was better than nothing.
She grabbed two glasses for them, offering them out to her.]
no subject
[she cracks open the bottle with practiced ease, and pours each of them a glass]
