a. closed to Wanda

[ winn's wandering over to the engine room for a routine check up - being out in space is stressful for him, and making sure everything is running smoothly with his own hands and eyes helps ease that worry. he walks past the cargo hold when he notices the docking shuttle, and decides to linger and welcome whoever's coming on board. it could be one of his friends, it could be someone who needs directions, it could be that he's feeling pretty secure about the state of the ship he was only going for that check up cuz he was bored and the possibility of company is extremely welcome.

he leans against the wall, and waves at the woman who disembarks. they've never really met, but he recognizes her; kitty's party, his party, the network, he's seen that face around. ]

Hey -

b. OTA - basically a wildcard.

[ while the fleet still lingers by the hotel, winn spends as much time as he can in it (christmas and whenever his waffle sense tingles excluded). it feels pretty rare to stop somewhere nice, and the last time they did he was out for two weeks, so he's determined to make the most of this one.

he does, however, pop in every once in a while (despite the captain's threat to throw him out if he catches him here. sorry jim - he just doesn't believe you!) to check on the state of the ship, drop off some purchases, just hang out for some quiet time, or yeah - work on his projects.

once the fleet gets moving, it's back to the same old routine - splitting his time between the tourist and the windrose, wandering the halls of the ship in the middle of the night to work on one project or another, making cup after cup of coffee in the kitchen, and trying to be a good boy and follow the work out regime the dear captain made for him in hopes it'll cheer him up a little - but usually failing because have you seen the list of projects he has going? who has time for the gym! ]

[As she steps off the shuttle, she's not expecting any kind of welcoming party, so it does come as a bit of a surprise to see Winn standing there -- let alone so casually as if he knew she was coming to pay The Tourist a visit. Well, the good news is that if Winn's here, then that probably meant Kitty was here, too. Not that Kitty had ever really brought up their relationship around Wanda, but she'd seen them together plenty enough. Plus, she's a telepath. Makes it hard for her NOT to pick up on these things. Still though, she cannot recall having exactly met Winn before. Now seems as good a time as any she supposes.]

[She returns the wave. A slight eyebrow rise accompanies it, but she grins at him pleasantly enough.]

Winn, right?

Right! Wanda?

[ he's not sure how this is going to go which makes him a little nervous. on the one hand - she's kitty's friend, steve's friend. on the other, he recalls kara telling him once that they've had an awkward encounter, and he's the king of awkward. the fact that her fate in kitty's world also comes to mind doesn't help much either.

he smiles. this isn't national city, most people seem to like him fine here. no reason to assume differently without any proof, right! ]

[She nods. That was her name all right. Well, that made introductions easy enough. As she approaches, she tilts her head, sensing that something seemed to have him slightly on edge. The heightened ability to sense emotions ever present in her mind. Usually, she can easily treat it like white noise, but sometimes certain things tend to stand out a little more -- especially the closer she is in proximity to someone.]

Something the matter?

[He doesn't seem excessively worried. Just... anxious? Maybe? Though Wanda can't think of why that might be. If he's close with Kitty, he likely is no stranger to people with powers then.]

[ he frowns in slight confusion at that - if that particular part of her abilities was explained to him it was too long ago to remember. besides, he has so many superhero friends who tell him about so many superpowered people that it can get a little hard to keep them all straight sometimes. ]

Not right this second, he said realizing that's a dumb thing to say on a reality show - [ he shakes his head, come on atroma you don't have to use every opening they've suffered enough with all the recent disappearances! ] I was just on my way to give the engines a look over when I noticed your shuttle I don't just hang out here all day waiting for people to dock. [ it felt like he needed to clarify that, maybe that's why she's asking. or maybe he looks anxious, that's always a possibility he thinks he's so good at hiding his feelings but he's really not oops. ]

[Wanda makes a soft sound like a snort mixed with a chuckle. She looks him over, reads his face. He seemed a bit of an odd duck. It kind of reminded her of someone else she knows...]

That's a shame. I was starting to feel flattered that a welcoming party had been sent.

[She crosses her arms, keeping an eyebrow quirked in a bemused expression.]

I guess this means I won't be getting the guided tour treatment, too.

[ if that someone is cisco/hank/ravi - they're way ahead of you. ]

I think the engine can wait, it was in perfect condition when I looked in on it yesterday and we haven't been doing a lot of traveling lately. [ he smiles ] I can't deprive you from touring the Tourist, you don't get the t-shirt without a tour guide.

Oh, there's a T-shirt is there? Wouldn't want to leave without getting one of those.

[Yeah, she's more than happy to play along with this kind of joking.]

[ joking? who says he's joking! ]

Can't have that, you're our first recipient. [ and with that, he pushes away from the wall towards a little box. kneeling in front of it, he rummages for a while before he finds the size he was looking for. standing back up - there is now a navy blue t-shirt in his hands featuring the tourist logo of his design (a spaceship wearing a sombrero and sipping a cocktail) in white on the left breast, and also in white the phrase 'I TOURED THE TOURIST' on the back. ] Gotta earn it now. [ he throws it to her. ]

[Give Wanda a sec to recover. She's kind of dumbstruck at the moment that there are, in fact, actual T-shirts. She does manage to pick her jaw up off the ground and catch the shirt Winn tosses to her, her gaze shifting down to it. She holds it up to look at the design. An eyebrow quirk and a snort likely tells him all he needs to know of what Wanda thinks of it, but as she lowers the shirt he might catch that there is a legitimately amused grin on her face.]

Who came up with the design?

[ winn watches her with a smugness that reveals the answer before he says it. ]

You're looking at him. [ it's okay to laugh, wanda, it's what he lives for half the time. ]

[She eyes him for a moment. Could her eyebrow raise any higher at the moment?]

You are certainly creative.

[She grins at him, folding the shirt back up and sticking it under an arm. She knows it'd be rude not to accept it.]

Well? You said I had to earn it now. Lead on.

Right you are! Well, um, this is the cargo hold, I dunno if it's any different from - what ship are you on?

[ truthfully the tour is pretty dull, unless he gets into his various projects which he only really does with his nerdbros. but he is sticking it out with this joke! ]

[She's trying not to seem overly sarcastic or cynical, wanting to make a good impression. Though, she is somewhat enjoying herself playing along with the seemingly overall tongue-in-cheek vibe of this conversation.]

The Starstruck. And I don't think our cargo bay contains quite as many boxes of T-shirts. Least, not that I know of.

That can be fixed.

[ only not really. he's pretty comfortable with joking with steve but peggy's a whole other story. ]

Well, that's the uh, gym. We got a projector so sometimes we set up a screen here for movie nights - but now that there's an actual movie theater that's probably gonna get less usage - and yeah, that's pretty much it for the cargo hold. We can move on to the kitchen or -- wherever you were headed? I'm assuming you're not just here for the grand tour? Not that there's a problem if you are, I'm just gonna have to put a little more effort into it.

[Sorry Winn, but she really hopes not. As cute as the T-shirt and tour routine was, she's not sure how she feels about her own ship following the trend. Still, she stays quiet. Smiling politely, letting Winn go down the list of amenities to be found in the Tourist's cargo hold. She actually rather likes the projector and screen idea for a makeshift movie theater. She makes a mental note of that.]

To be honest, I came looking for Kitty. There's something I need to-- [Her smile dips slightly, now looking a little more somber.] soemthing I need to apologize to her for.

[She swallows the "again" at the end of that statement.]

[ it also only really works if your ship is called something ridiculous like the tourist. come on. that positively screams for some ridiculous t-shirt and tour action!

he frowns ever so lightly at that - kitty hadn't told him she had a problem with wanda. but then, it could very easily be that wanda felt the need to apologize for something that kitty didn't deem necessary, that happens too. ]

Sorry, she's still at work, but she'll come here later if you wanna hang out and wait for her? I could pull out the projector and put on a movie - or, we still got some decent food -

[She looks a little disappointed when she hears Kitty's apparently still at work and not around. However, Winn's offer to pull out the projector certainly catches her interest. Though, she is a little hesitant to accept the offer right away.]

I wouldn't want to impose.

[ he waves it off ]

I don't offer to do things I don't wanna do, that's other people's job.

[ oh, the things he's been roped into doing. ]

[She opens her mouth for a moment. Not quite sure how to respond to that. Instead, she makes a kind of half-snort, half-chuckle sound that becomes a soft giggle after a moment.]

All right then. If you insist.

[She really did want to see this projector operation of there's.]

So which option are we going for? Or are we doing both, cuz I'm good with both, movies and food go pretty perfectly together.

[Maybe it's Winn's easy-going demeanor, but Wanda decides she can bring in a little more of her typical wry humor.]

Well, it's not really a movie without popcorn is it?

[ he is so good with wry humor! ]

Mmhm... [ scrunching his face apologetically ] sorry, we don't have popcorn. Can I interest you in vending machine space chips?

[Wanda makes a big show of faking like she's sorely disappointed. A heavy sigh and dejected look on her face.]

Well, I suppose if that's all you have...

I'm very sorry, please don't slay us on Yelp. Cola? Water? Tea? Coffee?

[ he is actually sorry, both because popcorn is awesome, and because he hates disappointing people. ]
