[this is it-- Atroma's surprise vacation stay for you all! it's time to explore, speculate, relax, and totally behave yourselves. right?

how are you all dealing with the ever-so-educational volcano? have you played around with the visual toggle on those collars yet? aren't they cool? aren't these peasant clothes rad? if you haven't had a decent meal since Abeo, maybe you could afford some of that authentic farm-raised meat they have here. historical!

I bet you're all excited and completely thrilled to be here! who wouldn't be? ...so, make some discoveries, make some friends, and have fun!]

[He watches, impressed, as Hiro makes his way out and then pulls himself up over the ledge. He's quite the little acrobat! Following, Axel hauls himself up over the egde and shoots a quick glance toward the guards, then silently makes a shooing gesture at Hiro.

[They hurry to the castle doors, and Axel gives it a tug. It appears to be unlocked. He grins, but his grin quickly vanishes as the door makes a loud creaking sound when he pulls it open enough for them to sneak inside. There's a shout from the guards, and Axel's eyes widen as they turn to run across the drawbridge to apprehend.]

Run for it! We gotta find someplace to hide!

Get inside! Fast!

[he yanks the door a little more open and darts inside of it, taking no time to revel at the inside. he runs to the first side hall he can find, looking for an open door or a kitchen or something. there has to be a cupboard or a table he can hide in.]

[He doesn't bother closing the door behind them, he just bolts after Hiro, dashing down a hallway and pointing to the first open door.]

In there!

[They dart inside. It's a drawing room of some sort. There were a couple of couches and low tables, all with flower arrangements on them. There were heavy curtains on the high windows, and--perfect! It looked like there was a closet.]

Hiro, throw open one of the windows, then follow me.

[He pulls open the closet and has a quick look. It'll be a tight squeeze, but there's space for Hiro to curl up in one corner, and Axel to stand in the other, obscured by someone's fine outerwear.]

They'll think we went out the window, so hopefully they won't bother checking in here.

[If they did, well... Axel could always see how he fared with a Sleep spell...]

[oh, perfect! he throws the window open violently so that... maybe they can even hear it, and then he slides into the closet. good thing they're both so damn skinny.]

Shh!

[got_it_memorized]

[He is shushing, gosh! Waiting for Hiro to get situated, Axel slides in behind some robes and then pulls the closet closed as the guards come charging into the room. There's a shout as they run to the window, and a pause as he presumes they look out. There's a ripple of confusion--'Did they jump out the window?' 'They'd have fallen in the moat!' 'Go check the grounds, quickly!'--and then the guards file out of the room again.

[Axel counts a full forty seconds before reaching for the closet door and pushing it open ever so slightly. He peeks out, then pushes the door a little more. The room is empty. They're in the clear, for now.]

Heheheh, it worked! [He opens the door all the way and steps out, then beckons for Hiro.] C'mon, let's go check this place out.

[hiro sighs in relief, but he's grinning ear-to-ear.]

You're the boss.

[and a quick pause]

... Hey, don't tell my brother about this. Seriously.

[got_it_memorized]

[Axel snorts a laugh.]

Why would I tell your brother? I never even met the guy. Don't worry, I got'cha covered, kiddo.

[He points down a hallway and gives Hiro a grin.]

Come on, let's see what's down here. So what's your brother like, anyhow?

He's a nerd.

[immediately]

... But he's alright. [hiro loves him more than anything in the universe don't let his words fool you axel]

He's the medic on the Bishop.

[he says all of this while walking down the hall with him]

Back home, he was in the robotics program at the university in town. It's the best program in the country, and he helped me get in at my age.
